March Diet - Need to shed a stone in 5 weeks

Moknicker · 24/02/2013 15:43

Ive moved to the US and put on the dreaded New York stone and cant shake it off. I keep losing and putting on the same five pounds - xmas, ski trips, PIL visiting - everything keeps tripping me up.

I have a clear month till the end of March - no visitors, DH traveling so its now or never. Need lots of support to stay on the wagon. Anyone in a similar boat? What is working for you to stay motivated?

Day 4 of the shred done! Husband did it with me and we are planning on doing it everything morning first thing from now on - this is the only way he can do exercise is just to get up and get it done, so we will motivate each other along.

Scrambled eggs and smoked salmon for breakfast - not sure what for lunch and low carb chilli for dinner.

Going for a 4 mile dog walk now and then bowling this afternoon.

Lots of water!

All sounds good but still no real movement on the scales Hmm not going to worry about that though, I know I am doing the right things, haven't cheated once on carbs and have had no wine for nearly a week - unheard of!!

HugAndRoll · 03/03/2013 16:24

Hmm had a birthday party today and have failed dramatically. Tomorrow is a new day and ill keep an eye on party invites going forward and have that as my cheat day as I've now had two Blush.

Zoelda · 03/03/2013 21:23

Mmmmmm. Cake.

I might weigh tmrw.

Moknicker · 04/03/2013 13:07

55.6 today which is great for after the weekend. Overall didnt cheat too much on the weekend so am feeling more confident.

Zoelda - hope your DCs and cat are feeling better. Nothing derails a diet more than stress of this level.

Spam, Hug - great re the exercise levels. Hug - nothing wrong with occasional cake.

Back on the wagon this week. Only 4 more weeks to go for the end of March and slimmer us.

Zoelda - didn't see that post about your children and the cat Blush - hope all are feeling better, nightmare weekend for you Sad

Day 5 of the shred done! food good, water good and going to do my usual walk later. No movement on the scales Hmm but a real difference in clothes already - can't believe that the maid of honour dress I tried on last week is nearly looking okay. Dress I have on today for work is loose, whereby a couple of weeks ago was getting too tight - I am sure the scales will catch up so not worrying about that.

Zoelda · 04/03/2013 13:43

all good. kids off today but bloke looking after them. sort of...grrrr...

well done ont he 5 days of shredding! very good indeed.

what is that weight loss then mokniker?

and yes, 4 more weeks to go. amazing really. if i do this, im going to swim across the pond and come and give you a big hug for starting it, moknicker!

i weighed. somewhere between 10.5 and 11 stone. i was probably 11 stone last week. so not bad for after a weekend and on the start of my period.

pixi2 · 04/03/2013 13:46

Coffee and water are my staples.

If you fancy something sweet try a teaspoon of honey instead of chocolate.

Cereal such as porridge or bran flakes for breakfast and evening meal. Raw veg and salad for lunch- chewing triggers enzymes that make you feel fuller faster.

Cut out alcohol.

Note to self-follow own advice, been very slack lately and have just eaten an entire packet of biscuits. Yum.

Moknicker · 04/03/2013 18:20

Spam - really glad your dress is looking good on you - amazing the difference a week can make

Zoelda :) to swimming across the pond. Weight loss has been a kilo since start. it should have been more because its always easier to lose weight at the beginning of a diet. But - at this stage i'll take what i can get.

Pixi2 ; good tips. thank you.

Ironically since i started this last ditch diet im cooking more than ever before.

Ive been trying to think back to my life in the UK and what has changed to make me out on a stone (apart from driving everywhere);

I used to have a ready made healthy soup and salad for lunch and over here i cant find any healthy soup - they are all LADEN with cream and taste yucky. Ive started making vats of my own soup and hopefully that will help.

Next goal is to try and lose 1.5 kgs by March 14th which is my wedding aniv so would like to look nice when we go out for dinner (and hopefully not pig out)

I've fallen off the wagon. Maybe I can't cheat on the weekend as I fall back into bad ways :(. Someone shout at me please.

Moknicker · 04/03/2013 19:50

Hugs hug - everyone falls off the wagon occasionally. What matters is that you pick yourself up and get back on it. We still have four weeks left so a good amount of time to make some inroads into the diet.

People who lose weight successfully are those who can cope with setbacks not those who dont have any at all.

The weekends are always tough - it is my weak point as well. I am good during the week, binge during the weekend and then undo all the good work.

Could you do an extra walk to work off the miles and get you back on track?

OP posts:
HugAndRoll · 04/03/2013 21:09

Can't walk to work as have school and nursery drop offs but can go for a good walk on my lunch break and will shred tomorrow. You're right and as long as I get back on it I will be fine.

Moknicker · 05/03/2013 14:52

Went over calorie count yesterday and tried to do more exercise to counteract it which was so painful that it is easier to say no to the food.

No movement in weight - at least it hasnt gone up.

How are the rest of you getting on.

Moknicker - great well done on the scales not going up!

I not having such a great day, have done okay with food and water but have felt "Meh" all day - did my 3.5 mile walk earlier but ambled rather than power marched. Bit despondent that still no movement on the scales even though I know I am doing everything right. I have had this before though and I am sure in a week or two things will start moving in the right direction just a bit fed up as in my mind I had the whole 2lb a week plan and now it's not looking like that at all....anyway I will keep going, not done the shred yet but going to go do it now, that might perk me up! I also didn't sleep well last night and had the squits a bit yesterday so maybe that's it? Jeans are feeling looser and overall I feel better but there is something about seeing a loss on the scales that really motivates.

Fairyloo · 05/03/2013 18:25

MyLittleDiva · 05/03/2013 18:36

Can I join, would love to drop a stone for a big holiday end of April!

HugAndRoll · 05/03/2013 20:47

No energy at all. Children keeping me up at night so yet again shred not done.

Spamspamspam · 05/03/2013 20:47

Welcome newbies Smile

Right kicking the "Meh" to the curb!!!!

Day six of the shred done with heavier weights and managed the whole scissor crunches at the end for the second day running whoo hoo Blush

Been reading lots of articles about water retention when you start a new exercise regime -can last up to two weeks if muscles are really sore which mine have been with the shred so hoping the scales issue I am having is just that and going to keep going - five weeks today till I have to get into a swimsuit Shock why on earth didn't I address this in January?

Spamspamspam · 05/03/2013 20:49

Hug just go and do it now - it's only 20 mins.....

I had to force myself to do it tonight but I sure felt better when I did

MyLittleDiva · 05/03/2013 22:18

Can someone tell me about the shred? What do you do and does it work? Thanks : )

Spamspamspam · 05/03/2013 22:42

I know this is lazy but I don't know how to link so... Google 30 day shred by jillian michaels or go to page 11 on this section and there is a thread answering someone who is asking what is the 30 day shred

Spamspamspam · 06/03/2013 10:36

Day 7 of the Shred done by 7.10 this morning.

Not even going to mention the scales - in fact I might even get rid of them for the time being as they are not moving in fact went up again today. BUT I look so much better so going to keep at it - I know I am doing everything right, no cheating, lots of water etc so it cannot be weight gain....

Moknicker · 06/03/2013 12:37

54.5 today which is amazing but because i ate practically nothing yesterday as i was busy and trying to make up for day before.

Didnt exercise yesterday though - felt too tired.

Just need to make sure i dont stuff my face today as undoubtedly the scales will spring back up tomorrow.

OP posts:
Zoelda · 06/03/2013 17:54

Blimey you're nearly at your goal weight!! In two weeks. Well done!

Moknicker · 06/03/2013 21:29

Zoelda - its just water loss since i didnt eat anything yesterday. It will bounce back up tomorrow as Im eating again today.

Ive got to this point many time before but then i lose focus and it goes back up again so im not that excited about it.

OP posts:
HugAndRoll · 06/03/2013 21:49

Have eaten like a pig today Blush but did do trx. Going for a run tomorrow during my lunch break and will shred in the evening so if I'm careful all week hopefully it will balance out.
