Best way to loose the optimum amount of weight in 5 weeks?

PampersAndHuggiesMe · 24/02/2013 15:09

I was almost 14 stone after DS was born and have slowly been loosing weigh since ( I put on over christmas so had extra to loose to get me back to the 12 stone I am now)

I don't have many social occasions to attend which I think is the reason I'm pretty chilled in my attempts to loose weigh, I'm mostly just wearing scruff on the school run.

However I've been invited to an overnight thingy in about 5 weeks time. Its the first time I've been out on the town in years and I'm really looking forwards to it.

I already feel alot better at 12 stone than 14 obviously but I would love to be a bit smaller,

This has given me something to focus on and look forwards to, something I've not had upto now in my weightloss attempts.

So I want to grab the bull by the horns,

What can I do to loose the most amount of weight in 5 weeks? Please! I really need to loose a good amount!

Combine exercise with a healthy diet. Calorie count if it works for you. I tend to cut out the evening snacking! And have smalller portions. Have been running and doing exercise dvds and gone down from a size 14 before xmas to 12 and now a size 12 is loose but a 10 a teeny bit snug iykwim!

Shred is meant to be good.

I am not losing as much weight now (half a stone still to go) but am losing inches as i tone up.

PampersAndHuggiesMe · 24/02/2013 15:40

How many calories would get the best results? :)

Lo carb for optimum results . Could easily lose a stone in 5 weeks doing the Dukan. It's tough but very effective. I lost almost 2 stone of baby weight in the summer holidays . I don't care if its not the best way to do it I was desperate after trying about 6 diets .

5madthings · 24/02/2013 15:48

Ha my youngest turned two in dec it was about time i got on with losing the baby weight!

I dont do caloriw counting tbh but we are meant to have 1800 a day so anything below that but not too low as your body goes into starvation mode and you then wont lose weight.

Weight watchers and slimming world havw diets to follow or tge 5:2 diet serms popular on mnet.

Are you bfeeding? Only that mat make a difference, you dont want to diet too much if you are and some women find that theur body holds onto a bit if baby weight whilst feeding.

Re size 10 i am only 5 2 and petite, even a size ten i am not slim as i have boobs and hips! I am.never going to be skinny but i can be a healthy size/weight and be toned. I think being tonef makes a big difference in how clothes fit and your posture etc so making you look/feel slimmer iyswim?

Losing two stone already is really good! so you are doung grwar and uts best to loose weight at a steasy rate as you are more likely to keep it off.

Possiblyoutedled · 24/02/2013 15:48

Op ill do it with you if you like! I'm going on an enforced family holiday in may with skinny sils so I'd like to shift some.
I've Ben gyming three times a week for few weeks now and have really toned up so going to do that along with my fitness pal.

5madthings · 24/02/2013 15:50

Low carb diets are meant to be good but not sure they are recomended if you are bfeeding?

PampersAndHuggiesMe · 24/02/2013 15:51

No, I'm not BF,

Low carbing doesn't work well for me as its mostly meat based and I'm not keen on meat at all, so I just get bored immediately.

I don't want to be skinny, I just want to be 'smooth' and not have muffin top and such lumps hanging out all over ;)

we lost a stone each on six weeks dipping the hairy bikers diet and that was with no exercise. it's stayed off too and we're about to start the diet again but only Monday to friday to lose the next stone.

5madthings · 24/02/2013 15:54

Low carb wouldnt be for me either as i love carbs!

Have a look at the 5:2 diet maybe?

I dont follow a diet as such just eat healthily with reasonable portion sizes and less snacking. i did do the rosemary connely diet after ds2 and that was quite good.

Whatever you do foodwise it needs to be combined with exercise for best results.

Teahouse · 24/02/2013 19:52

Wolfcub...what is the amazing diet you speak of. Tell us more

PampersAndHuggiesMe · 24/02/2013 21:15

Its not so much loving carbs, I can do without them, but when the alternative is almost all meat I can't do it!

I am after ideas too. I need to lose a stone in 5 weeks. I have been calorie counting (1200 a day) for 3 weeks. Healthy diet, no wine and no snacks. Some exercise, but hard with FT job and 2 DC's. I have not shifted a single pound and feel crap!!!

Any ideas welcome. Also not so keen on meat, but may try no carbs and liveon beans......

Sticklebug · 24/02/2013 21:34

Pampers, how about a fish and lentil diet?

PampersAndHuggiesMe · 24/02/2013 21:37

Really Stickle? :( shit.

I was planning on just doing that but I'd cry if i didn't loose!

Sticklebug · 24/02/2013 21:50

I am gutted, and very close to reaching for the Wine.

I have been really good, using 'fitness pal' app to monitor calories. Out of 20 days I have had less than 1200 cals 18 times. Over by quite a bit once and by only12 another time.

Am really cross. Even borrowed some scales today in case mine were broken!

PampersAndHuggiesMe · 24/02/2013 21:52

Thats f*cked :(

I'm not suprised, I caved and had pizza the other day cause I was so stressed at it all. Completely stupid but it was just my reaction :(

So what you gonna do?

MyHeadWasInTheSandNowNot · 24/02/2013 21:54

Stickly - you can't do low carb and live on beans Grin

I am a vegetarian and I have been low carbing. I have lost 1 stone in a month.

I have tried all kinds of things in the past and nothing has worked this well - not SW, not WW, not low fat, not low calorie nor any number of other things.

PampersAndHuggiesMe · 24/02/2013 21:55

Myhead can you give me a few examples of you meals in a full day please!

OP posts:
Sticklebug · 24/02/2013 22:01

My head- what do you eat in an average day? I eat mostly vegetarian, with meat maybe once a month. Love lentils and fish. Are beans carbs? Thought they were protein! Doh!

Viviennemary · 24/02/2013 22:02

I knew somebody who once lost 19lbs on slimming world doing red days only. Also Cambridge shakes and bars soups are good for emergency quick weight loss but very expensive.

Viviennemary · 24/02/2013 22:03

19lbs in five weeks I meant to say!

MyHeadWasInTheSandNowNot · 24/02/2013 22:07

Sure - but please, bear in mind that if you eat meat/fish you have a lot more options :)

WeightyKaty · 24/02/2013 22:13

Best to concentrate on toning up than the number on the scale. I walk at least 10k steps a day and do pump twice a week and see a trainer. Weight not changing much but my shape is changing and have lost 5 inches from waist 4 from hips etc since dec.
Check your bmr (google fat to fit) for calculator and don't eat below that - it's what you need to breathe, blink etc. the 1200 on myfitnesspal is too low if you do anything more than lying in bed all day.

MyHeadWasInTheSandNowNot · 24/02/2013 22:13

Stickle - mostly food isn't one thing, it's made up of protein, fat, carbs just in different proportions :) Some things are single or just two - ie most cheese is just protein and fat, oil of course is just fat.

Once you are eating a ketogenic diet, you can up the fats and proteins and lose weight.

John Briffa has a book which is very good Escape the diet trap

Carbs are not a 'food group' - we don't actually need them... not at all.

There are carbs in veg etc, but you just eat the ones with a low count (so no potatoes etc).
