If you struggled with over eating for years and stopped and lost weight, how?

I'm struggled so much. My sons almost 2 now and I still need to loose 2 stone, it just feels impossible.

Joined WW and have lost 5lbs, but I've done shit this week, I've just ate.

I just keep fucking up and am sick of it :(

Lighter Life light. Google them.
I'm a serious over eater (will eat sweet food until I feel sick and then savoury to cure it) I ended up 5.5 stone over weight after DS4.
Lost 2 stones with WW over 1.5 years but it was just too slow for me. I start a diet like WW and lose 2lbs and reward myself by eating a massive bar of choc!
Joined Lighter Life Light and lost 3.5 stones in 100 days. Dropped from a size 18 to a size 8/10. Weight 15 stone to 9.6 stone. BMI 28 down to 19.5
Managed to keep it off for a year now. It's a replacement meal shake instead of food diet, like slim fast. Worked well for me as I was in and out the door with the kids. They predict 3lb weight loss every week or if your doing total 6lb every week.

Its too expensive for me. I've tried slim and save but because theres no support, you just buy the packets I failed miserably :(

I was in a binge/starve cycle for years with weight varying wildly.

Low carbing helped me, it was v v hard for first few days, but after that the physical cravings went. So now I just have to deal with the mental side (easier said than done!) but it really did help with the actual eating behaviour and I now don't snack and have proper meals and stop when I'm satisfied

I have halved my bmi in about 18 months

My fitness pal got the best review of all the free apps. I've been using it since christmas and I'm eating far less as I know I'm at my limit. No huge weight loss yet although my waist and stomach look slimmer Smile

Yy taking note of what you eat and why definitely helps and keeps you accountable.

As others say it does depend on your triggers - boredom, stress, tiredness, sadness etc as to the best course of action

Do be a bit kinder to yourself though and try not to think of yourself badly

It's very early days but I have a great deal to lose and am happy so far with My Fitness Pal. It really helps that I've friended those on the Chiefs and the MFP threads on here and we support each other. I've lost half a stone in 4 weeks (and was away for the weekend during this) and I'm happy with this. I've been overweight since I was a child and have tried all sorts, including a Lighter Life-type diet, but I just put it all back on. For me, I think I have to take it slow to make sure it all stays off.

A big ote for MyFitnessPal from me too. I've lost 47lbs in a year using it. Just the act of looking up and logging calories on it has educated me completely on correct portion sizes. I didn't go too far with the calorie restriction - that is, MFP recommends 1200 cals a day which for me was too little food (I felt very deprived so then binged) so I set myself a 1800 maximum a day. Now I'm fasting on thr 5:2 diet so am logging more calories on the days I'm not fasting but I'm still using MFP.

I lost most of the weight on diet alone but late last year as I became lighter I started cardio 4 times a week too - 45 mins intentive exercise that brings me out in a sweat.

Oh forgot to say, there're two great MyFitnessPal support threads on here - one is MyFitnessPal 5 and the other is Oi Chiefs! Grin. A lovely bunch of very supportive "losers" Grin.
