Sorry for the late start to this thread. I had an appointment at my gym for an induction this morning.

If you haven't already, put yourself on the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness

Good luck for the week!

BIWI. Not weeping about needing to lose weight but about being 40. Sadly you can't help me with that one!

To be fair I am newish to weightloss. Pre DC I had never been on a diet. So being so fat post DC was a real shock.

When I lost a lot of weight on Dukan last spring I exercised. Swam 3km four times a week and the weight really dropped off.

Think the answer is gym. I am struggling to find the motivation to go at night after DH comes home. Someone get BIWIs stick and chase me there. Grin

You are a mere youngster. I'm 53. Watch me weep!

Who knew that there could be such pleasure in eating cold cuts wrapped around a piece of salty butter :D

However I have a question... I got beetroot in my veg box. I've just had one cooked dippedI in Mayo with horse radish and my buttered cold cuts. How bad is beet root? It was very yummy

MrsHoolie · 05/02/2013 14:42

Thanks Gless,I will have a look at the recipe section.

BIWI · 05/02/2013 14:43

Well, Iamaslummymummy, it's not on the allowed veg list ...

7.3g carbs per 100g. But it's a dense vegetable, so you need to be sure how much you are eating!

Skandi
You are the same height as me but my happy with myself weight is another stone
I have however lost 2 stone in the last year and turned 40 last year. All the positives on this woe have actually been better than the actual weight loss iyswim. If I had given up alcohol I would have lost more too.

When you were the weight you want to be were you eating well or depriving yourself?

In relation to the gym I would be realistic in what you can achieve especially at night if you are already sleep deprived. How about an exercise DVD in the day?

Iamaslummymummy · 05/02/2013 15:04

Low low carb dinner for me then Grin

prettybird · 05/02/2013 15:18

I've just made myself have some yoghurt with extra double cream and a few raspberries as I realised that I hadn't had enough fat today! :)

prettybird · 05/02/2013 15:20

I've also discovered that a few frozen raspberries (as long as you can still separate them) are wonderful wee tasty "sugar" rushes once you're on Boot Camp Lite of course :)

Pretty, I love nearly frozen berries with a some cream.

I've also just made the Tiffin. I missed out the flax seeds and sweeteners as I don't have any, but it is delicious anyway I licked the spoon, the coconut makes it taste quite "sweet".

It's in the fridge, I'm going to have it with a cup of coffee in a bit.

littlermissstan · 05/02/2013 16:10

Ooh, this looks like an amazing low carb pudding if you miss out the honey!

PostBellumBugsy · 05/02/2013 16:26

Oh loving the look of the baked ricotta littlermiss

I do a baked custard, which is very easy & quite comforting too in a puddingy kind of way.

1 egg
150ml double cream
few drops of vanilla essense & bit of nutmeg
one flat teaspoon of sucrose

whisk egg, cream, sucrose essence & nutmeg
pour into oven proof bowl
put bowl into a dish filled with water
bake in oven at 180 degs for half an hour

About 4 carbs in total

You could probably just about get away without the sweetner in this, particularly if you lobbed in a couple of blueberries or some raspberries.

colette · 05/02/2013 16:37

lost 1lb- which is fine . Can't keep up with this thread, just dip in and out , but it is great that it is so active! Keep it up Smile

colette · 05/02/2013 16:38

really fancy that baked custard - will try frozen berries . Kids will love it too

WillieWaggledagger · 05/02/2013 16:42

i have done panna cotta for people coming round for dinner, served with fresh berries - in individual pots so mine just doesn't have sugar in. you could add sweetener i suppose but i find the cream and vanilla beans are indulgent enough

Tigglette · 05/02/2013 17:26

I had berries and double cream as a treat this lunch time - there's something quite decadent about having yummy cream in an office in the middle of the working day. The baked ricotta looks yummy, am loving the food ideas on this thread and the recipe one.

BlackAffronted · 05/02/2013 17:27

Just posted a photo of my amazing lunch! I would certainly serve it at a dinner party, it looked so pretty :)

Waiting on my dinner, its another makey-up thing - quick fried cabbage & shallots, tipped into a baking dish & a little cream poured on. Topped with 2 pork chops that I quickly browned & grated cheese then into the oven. Looks & smells divine, lets hope it tastes it!

Might weigh tomorrow to see what damagete kitkat had, so that it proves to me that I cant do it again! Gah, I dont even like kitkats! Nor chocolate really, it was never my treat/reward food. Wonder why I went for it rather than crisps, which used to be my utter downfall?

BIWI · 05/02/2013 17:28

Iamaslummymummy - I can't see how that can be low carb - if it's jam, it will be a lot of concentrated fruit, so probably very sweet and even more carby. Like the difference between eating a piece of fruit or drinking a glass of juice.

I'd avoid it myself.

BlackAffronted · 05/02/2013 17:29

Oooh that baked ricotta dish would be perfect if you had guests, serve them the full version & have a honey free one for yourself & no one would ever know.

skandi1 · 05/02/2013 17:38

BIWI Grin.

Gless. Pre DC my weight was between 145 and 150lbs. And I made no effort at all for that!!! I would eat tons, more than DH and rarely visit the gym. Perhaps just once a week for a swim. And I had a very corporate job which involved lots of lunches and dinners and tons of food.

I think, given that I was used to eating everything I wanted, it's really hard now post two DC and I am fat for the first time. I have no idea about diets, portion size, and exercise.

I stupidly assumed I would go back to normal after the birth of my first DC and it was a shock to me when I didn't. It's as if pregnancy broke my body and metabolism. Not only did I get fat, I developed rosacea and spd all of which persists now. All that on top of the never ending tedium of no sleep, nappy changing and whining often makes me wonder what on earth I have let myself in for! Wink
