How much and what exercise do you do a week?

Because I'm a nosy cow Grin but also find it motivating to see what others do, especially for losing weight.

Cardio:
Monday/Wednesday/Friday at gym
Speed walking on treadmill 25 mins
Stepper machine 20 mins

Strength:
Tuesday/Thursday at home
Mixture of free weights exercises eg biceps/triceps/chest/waist/back 20 mins (may increase this to 30 mins)

And you?

I used to be a hardcore gym bunny but I haven't made it back to the gym since having DS. Now I run about 2-3k three days a week and 5-7k two days a week.

Dededum · 28/01/2013 20:32

Hot yoga - 4/5 times a week - great for strength, flexibility and general zen like calm Grin

ceebeegeebies · 28/01/2013 20:34

I do either a Body Attack or Body Combat class 2 or 3 times a week and Body Pump class 2 times a week so 4 or 5 gym visits a week (can't really spend more than an hour there due to wanting to get home to put the DC to bed or DH wanting to go to the gym).

Occasionally I will do an extra 20 minutes core work in the gym.

Snusmumriken · 28/01/2013 20:36

Oh man, I miss hot yoga!

ilovepowerhoop · 28/01/2013 20:36

monday, wednesday, friday - powerhoop (45 min classes)
tuesday - body pump (1 hour)
thursday - zumba (45 mins) and Legs, Bums & Tums (but more like Metafit!) (1 hour)

Porkster · 28/01/2013 20:36

I aim for 5.

2 spinnings, 1 body pump, 2 treadmill runs & cross trainer sessions. Last week I managed 6 as I went swimming too.

I really want to do yoga but I'm too scared.

LillethTheCat · 28/01/2013 20:49

I started running last easter and have let it slip over the winter. I need to get back into it properly. My plan was to run 3 days a week and swim 2, but it never worked out.

I have got an exercise bike on the way from a competition I won so will have to invest time in that and my running. I lack motivation.

TheFallenNinja · 28/01/2013 20:52

3/4 runs a a week 5 miles + each.

Barbie1 · 28/01/2013 20:56

Monday personal trainer
Tuesday rest
Wednesday personal trainer
Thursday machine Pilates
Friday Zumba

I have just started the insanity DVD will try to do at least 3x a week.

TalkinPeace2 · 28/01/2013 21:28

when not working or poorly

Monday - swim a mile in 40 mins, 1 hr yoga
Tuesday - swim ditto, BodyBalance
Wednesday - swim ditto, 1 hour yoga, BodyPump
Thursday - swim ditto, BodyBalance
Friday - swim ditto, 1 hr yoga, BodyBalance

thinking of adding in another BodyPump and will restart cycling as the days get longer

BsshBossh · 28/01/2013 22:50

Talkin is Body Pump only strength training or does it have a cardio element to it too? I'm tempted by this class but would only manage 1 session a week I think - but not sure if 1 class a week is worth it - strength wise - to see benefits IYSWIM...

Oliver789 · 29/01/2013 12:45

I do more cardio exercises in my workout routine.
I do cardio workouts five times a week for at least 45 minutes a day.
Cardio is excellent for me to maintain my physical health and fitness.

TalkinPeace2 · 29/01/2013 13:09

pump has cardio - especially if you keep the weight a bit lighter and do all the twiddly jumps and bends

BsshBossh · 29/01/2013 16:55

Cheers Talkin. So is a "body conditioning" class more weights exercises and less cardio, does anyone know?

McPie · 29/01/2013 17:24

Monday body pump am, bums tums and thighs x 2 one am one pm and boxfit pm
Tuesday body balance am, body conditioning am
Wednsday bums tums and thighs x 2 one am one pm and body pump pm
Thursday body combat am, kettlercise and metafit pm
Friday kettlercise and boxfit am
As of next week there will be 2 more metafit classes I can go to on tuesday and wednesday lunch time.
It is a lot but I am doing Tough Mudder in August and its not all at the one time .
Our body conditioning class varies, some weeks its step others its body pump weights.

Snowkey · 29/01/2013 17:42

I run 3 times a week, do a military bootcamp thing in the park a couple of times a week too, rest 2 days a week. I like to be outdoors and as far away from a gym as possible when I exercise.

McPie Tough Mudder sounds like a good challenge, someone is trying to convince me to enter into a 10mile one - not sure I can take that much pain but it's a good thing to aim for...I need something to focus on.

Dededum · 29/01/2013 18:08

Wow - mcPie - that is substantial.

Porkster · 29/01/2013 18:13

Blimey, mcpie! I thought I did a fair bit but I now feel like a couch potato.

Are you honed, toned and gorgeous?

ceebeegeebies · 29/01/2013 20:43

Re Body pump, not sure what body pump classes some of you go to as the ones I go to do not have any cardio in them (apart from about 16 squat jumps in one track). 99% of the class is just strength training with weights.

ilovepowerhoop · 29/01/2013 20:45

I agree there is not much moving about in Body Pump but I still manage to get a sweat going especially with the squat and back tracks.

Bigbouncingbaby · 29/01/2013 20:48

Run 5 times a week for about an hour

DontCallMeBaby · 29/01/2013 20:53

Currently - nuffink. I have a frozen shoulder which is out of the worst of the painful phase, just really immobile now. I have a PT session on Friday to see what he can do with me, I'm going to give swimming a go while DD trampolines next week, having established I CAN get into my bra-back cossie by myself (poor little DD will have to help me with my sports bra on Friday), and I need to see if I can run. You'd think I'd be able to, but when my shoulder was really painful it jarred it terribly.

Once I'm better, I'll work my way up my gym's hierarchy of boot camps, and do metafit if it's still around by then.

ceebeegeebies · 29/01/2013 20:53

Oh yeah, I get sweaty but it is definitely not a cardio class.

TalkinPeace2 · 29/01/2013 20:54

ceebee
we have a very singy teacher who keeps adding wiggles and mini squats
and mixes up old tracks (Ecuador is her fave)
