i think this thread talks FOOD too much for me to be focussed!

Pinot · 18/01/2013 11:24

Mo, wotcha. IS your school shut?

BupcakesAndCunting · 18/01/2013 11:25

Hairy Bikers Beef and Ale casserole with mashes sweet potatoes. FTW. Honestly, proper comfort food. And their Old fashioned Chicken and Vegetable casserole.

DH has a goat's cheese and roasted veg'lasagne in the fridge. Spicy potato wedges in the freezer. Honestly, it is taking me all of my strength not to rip the door off the fridge and wedge my face into the lasagne like ahorse with a nosebag.

Pinot, I do feel on an even keel tbh. Are you still on your AD's?

Mo, how much do you have to lose? If you're near ideal weight it will be harder. You know this already though, o dieting guru. Wink

Yup, will be forever I expect. Thing is, lovely, when they are working you don't feel like you need them. By definition, when they fix your levels, your levels feel really good. Do be careful - I know some folks use them intermittently or for a short period, but for me, I crashed badly and I wouldn't wish that on you.

TheTigerDidntComeToTea · 18/01/2013 11:30

Morning all, thanks for all the friends on MFP, much appreciated, made me feel all warm and tingly!!
I didn't manage to post yesterday as its my day off and I seemed to be on the go all day. I seem to have much more time to post here when I'm at work - that's not the right way round is it?

BUP - sorry no loss cos it looks like you've been really good, but maybe it's just saving it up for next week? Strangely, I found a box of mince pies in the cupboard last night. I always buy them even though no one round here likes them - Just.in.case... They were out of date though so I persuaded myself to bin them!

DoubleMum - mmmmm baked apple? Sounds lovely - I saw apple slices in the coffee shop this morning but managed to resist but I could have a baked one instead - good thinking!

No snow here AT ALL, very disappointed, the kids have a new sledge all ready to go!

BupcakesAndCunting · 18/01/2013 11:33

I understand, Pinot :(

I would rather be Mrs Blobby than be a wreck like I was last year. I wonder then about switching brands? The only thing is, I had terrible start-up side affects and they were almost worse than the anxiety/depression. Gah!

I made the cauliflower cheese soup yesterday that someone linked to last week. It's so delicious and doesn't make you feel like you're eating something super healthy.

We have a snow day today and ds who loves soup but detests cauliflower saw the soup in the fridge and asked if he could have some of that delicious looking soup for lunch. I'm not saying a word and I'll see if he realises.

We'll be going for a walk later. I've been so busy with work i haven't been for a walk all week. It's that time of the month so I'm feeling really fat.

DoubleMum · 18/01/2013 11:53

I've only just realised I haven't eaten anything yet today. That's good right?

Herecomesbod · 18/01/2013 12:03

Thanks for the recipe links & have just ordered the Hairy Dieters book on kindle.

Has anyone else thought about some sort of non-food treat when they've lost a certain amount? If so, what would it be?

I'm setting my weight loss goals at 1/2 stone intervals, but struggling to think of treats, as a treat for me would normally include things like a blow-out dinner in a nice restaurant, but don't think I can do that now in case I fall off the wagon.

RandallPinkFloyd · 18/01/2013 12:04

bups another 15 stoner here, you are not alone.

I wish I knew the secret to this weight loss business I really do. I've lost what I think is loads in a week but I have no idea why. Yes I've logged everything absolutely correctly but I've barely done any exercise.

I've done nothing different to you and pinot, and your food diary looks a hell of a lot better than mine!

I'm scared its a fluke and it's all going to have gone back on by next week. It's either that or my metabolism really is broken.

I'm no help whatsoever, I can't give any advice because I haven't got a clue what I'm talking about. I can give you both a reassuring squeeze though.

It must be so disheartening to feel like you're not getting anywhere. Don't know what else to say.

WiseKneeHair · 18/01/2013 12:08

Afternoon Chiefs.
Well, I have done my exercise for the day Grin
But what is all this talk of horrible, carb laden, fat food.
Ok, it's most definitely not salad weather, but there is lots of yummy, healthy, comfort food we have have. Isn't there?
I'm having lentil ragu with spaghetti tonight, so it better be bloody delicious and filling and everything.
double if I don't eat for too long, I end up starving and eat even more food, usually crappy food too, than I would have if I'd eaten earlier.

ChasingDogs · 18/01/2013 12:18

Can I join in? I was inspired by the last thread to start trying to shift my 2 stone belly blubber. I've been ignoring it the past few years as I live quite far from the coast, so there's no immediate risk of being harpooned.

If the snow is making you crave a warm wintery treat I can recommend the options hot choc sachets. They're really chocolatey, and the normal ones are only 38 cals. The extra indulgent choc brownie ones are 60. They're oddly filling too Grin Sainsbury's are doing them at 7 for £1.50 atm.

Does anyone know of a porridge alternative? I tried the oat so simple pots but they're just too milky and gluey. The dog had the last half of it. Now he's full and I'm hungry. Sad

I'm Jhg2010 on mfp if anyone wants to add me. Although I'm doing home made pizza tonight, probably not the best time to let people see the food diary lol. Should be interesting to see how many calories they come too. Blush

hugoagogo · 18/01/2013 12:20

Ok, in penance for mentioning bad food, here is my recipe that I nicked from Nigella

grate or cut up very fine:
a thumb sized piece of ginger
a small chilli
2 cloves of garlic

put them in a jar with

a tablespoon of fish sauce
juice of half a lime

Shake it up.

My fave way to eat this is a spoonful in a bowl of miso with rice noodles, maybe a few bits of chicken + some fresh coriander, but it livens up anything salady/ricey/noodly.

BupcakesAndCunting · 18/01/2013 12:26

Awwww Randall thank you :) I love this thread.

DoubleMum · 18/01/2013 12:33

gobbymare · 18/01/2013 12:52

im spinning as I write this n sweating all over the place .

no weigh in till monday ... hopefully stones off haha.

double mum I will still be here after your at goal weight

Welcome back mo.

juneybean · 18/01/2013 12:53

I'll still be here with you DoubleMum want to lose 45lbs by July and that's only half of what I need to lose!

juneybean · 18/01/2013 12:56

I don't know what to make for tea, it's got to be portable as I'm leaving for work in 20 minutes but I honestly don't know what I fancy. I had my yummy tiger roll pizza for lunch.

gobbymare · 18/01/2013 13:15

I've done corned beef hash but I've taken all the fat off it so im hoping its not that bad I will also only have 2 tatties with it and no bread ... how bad can it be calorie wise?

RandallPinkFloyd · 18/01/2013 13:16

I. Ace a big bowl of salad the other day and it lasted me for three work lunches.

It was, lettuce, cucumber, celery, carrot, beetroot, some fat free chicken pieces and low fat feta. With just a bit of balsamic vinegar as dressing. It was bloody delicious and 42 cals for a massive serving.

I'd be lying if I said I was stuffed and a thickly buttered crusty roll would complement it beautifully but it does make you feel like you've eaten loads. Purely because salad takes so bloody long to eat.

It took most of my lunch break to get through it so I didn't have time to eat anything else even if I'd wanted to!

I'm having a snow day today so its taking a bit more willpower this lunch time but I still have half of last night's take away in the fridge to have for tea so I need to save the calories Blush

RandallPinkFloyd · 18/01/2013 13:20

Gobby the only way to do it is to go through the recipe and log everything with it's exact weight. It's a ball ache but it really is worth it.

If its something you make often, create a recipe for it on MFP, that way you don't have to log all the ingredients separately every tine.

karatekimmi · 18/01/2013 14:34

Afternoon chiefs

well done for losses, and remember it is a marathon not a sprint!

I left the house this morning to drop mini karate off at the childminders but turned around due to the weather! its not stopped snowing since 8.30!! I planned to shred and run, but looking after baby has put pay to that!!

I'm doing well calorie wise, but really need to eat more fruit and veg.

hopefully i'll get to play in the snow and burn a few calories!!

gobbymare · 18/01/2013 14:35

I wasn't that prepared randal.... I've just shot it all in but will only be having a cereal size bowl and log it as 800 as thats what I have left for the day. .. its not a usual thing I eat just a one off.

I hope to be more prepared next time.
