Pistey - those are the three threads that you need! (But also, most of the recipes have been transferred by the lovely Justonemoregless to the low carb section in Recipes, which is in Food)
Eating out:
Thai - is probably the hardest place to eat at if you're low carbing as everything has sugar in it. Obviously you will need to avoid rice/noodles, but most sauces are also made with some kind of sugar.
Starters that are probably OK, if they have them - spare ribs, if they are dry rather than in a sauce; chicken satay, but go sparingly on the peanut sauce and the vinegar dip that they will come with.
For a main course, it's not easy. If they do Crying Tiger, go for that, as that usually has minimal sauce on it - or one of the salads like Yum Nua, which is a beef fillet salad.
Try asking for a side dish of stir-fried veg - our local Thai does a lovely dish like this which seems to be just cooked with a bit of soy sauce
Chinese is similarly awkward, although sometimes a bit more manageable. Lettuce wraps are good as a main course - a mixture of chopped pork and mushroom, with other veg, to be wrapped in lettuce leaves in place of pancakes. Avoid the hoisin sauce that will come with it though.
Sizzlng dishes are often better than other main courses, as there tends to be less sauce. And look at the vegetable side dishes too - a plate of stir-fried beansprouts or stir-fried waterchestnuts and celery make good additions to the meal
Crispy seaweed (which is, in fact cabbage!) is OK, but beware that it is sprinkled liberally with sugar!
Italian - as long as it's not just pizza/pasta, then this should be more easy to manage. Usually there is some kind of meat/fish main course that you could have. Look for salads as well, to replace any potatoes that might come with your meal.
Melanzane Parmigiana is a good choice - it's often on the list of starters, and sometimes I have it as a main course with a salad. It's aubergine with tomato sauce and cheese.
In terms of starters, if they do an antipasti of salami that is often a good choice - just avoid any bread that they might serve with it.
