As there are so many of us doing this, the chat thread is moving pretty quickly - and it means that lots of questions are being missed.

So here is a specific thread you to post any questions you might have about Bootcamp or low carbing.

Mrshoolie lacto free milk has half the carbs of regular milk and tastes fine in tea and coffee.

Prolificmincepiebreeder · 14/01/2013 08:46

Morning!
2 questions for you if you don't mind.
I've lost 7lbs in about 4/5 days, chuffed to bits! I've had a weight plateau ever since and I never cheat. What can I do? I need to lose another half stone at least. I'll continue going but I'm quite disheartened. Is a plateau common this early on? Thought I had lost a pound alas the scales weren't quite on zero!
Second question: can someone please link to the spreadsheet? Thank you. I can't find it!

BigStickBIWI · 14/01/2013 08:57

Cheeky, Pistey! Not everyone gets up at silly o'clock like you do
Grin

MrsHoolie - You don't have to give up having ordinary milk in your tea and coffee if you really can't cope without it! I still have 2-3 cups of coffee with milk per day.

The reason for avoiding milk is because it quickly adds a lot of carbs into your day, and dairy can impeded weight loss for some people

Found the spreadsheet!

prettybird · 14/01/2013 09:12

captainmummy - rooibos is caffeine free so should be ok to include in your daily water allowance.

WillieWaggledagger · 14/01/2013 09:48

prolificmincepiebreeder, when you say a plateau, how many days are you talking about, i'm guessing just a couple?

with this WOE you tend to lose quite a lot quite quickly at the beginning (not everyone does, though), as you're depleting your glycogen stores (about 3-4lb i think) and retained water too. once you start burning fat you won't see a loss on the scales every day (or even every week necessarily depending on how much you have to lose) even if you're sticking to the guidelines to the letter, and hormones and daily activities can have an impact on the actual number you see on the scales too - long-distance travel seems to make me gain lbs like you wouldn't believe, but no change in how clothes fit! however, as long as the overall trajectory is downwards, and you look and feel good in your clothes, and you're enjoying your food and feeling positive then all is well.

7lbs is a great start, so please please don't feel disheartened about not losing since then - you're still much lighter than you were this time a couple of weeks ago and hopefully you feel better in yourself too!

BigStickBIWI · 14/01/2013 10:16

Prolific - I will echo Willie's wise words. I will also use my big stick too! How can you be disheartened when you have lost 7lbs?!

Healthy and sustainable weight loss is around 1-2lbs per week. You can't expect to see a 7lb loss every week. Nor will you see a loss every day.

But, stick with it, enjoy your food, and it will melt away.

cathyandclaire · 14/01/2013 10:24

Can I echo the voices of reason above me Grin...I stuck for a week or two ( even wobbling up at times) and then loads randomly wooshed off one day. Keep at it and the results will come.

MrsHoolie · 14/01/2013 10:32

Thanks. I will have tea and coffee again but just wanted to be extra strict on Bootcamp. Once I have lost a stone I'll start having a couple of cups a day.

I'll also give the lacto milk a try.

Before this Bootcamp I drank she'd loads of tea and coffee (with skimmed milk)and not enough water so I think this has probably helped with my 4lb weight loss this week Grin

I have been following the IPD hence giving up the caffeine.

slatternlymother · 14/01/2013 11:18

What can I put with the mushroom pate on the recipe pages? It looks so delicious, and normally I'd spread some on melba toast or something. What is equally delicious? Thanks

bulletwithbutterflywings · 14/01/2013 11:25

Is is this ok to have? It looks OKish carbwise but it has apple and walnuts in it?

mumat39 · 14/01/2013 11:37

Hello.

I still find I'm craving something sweet after a meal. Is there anything I can have to help me get rid of that? I realise it's due to the fact that I have had nothing sugary for over a week but I was hoping that that feeling would have passed by now. Yesterday I really struggled but managed to avoid the temptation.

Thanks again.

bulletwithbutterflywings · 14/01/2013 12:21

Oh, bum. Just realised that link is useless!

Xenia · 14/01/2013 12:49

bullet, it has sugar and sugar substitutes and fruit apple and nuts in it, so I suspect the answer is not and it sounds really really processed.

PennyHofstadter · 14/01/2013 13:16

I've just eaten almost half a roast chicken for lunch! Someone please tell me I haven't just thrown the last few days away.

BigStickBIWI · 14/01/2013 13:16

That will be really sweet, bullet, never mind processed - and we are trying to curb our sweet teeth. I'm surprised the carb count is so low, given the ingredients - lots of 'forbidden' stuff in there - not just the apple, but also beetroot and sugar

I presume it's some kind of coleslaw? Why not make your own - much better and less carby!

mumat39 - you need to stick with it, give it another week and hopefully those feelings will subside. When we move to Bootcamp Light, you will be able to have fruit in the form of berries, so you could always have those after a meal if you really need to.

OP posts:
BigStickBIWI · 14/01/2013 13:17

Why would you, Penny? Roast chicken is carb-free! (Unless you've coated it with sugar or honey of course!)

However, if that's all you have had, then you won't have had much fat; you do need to make sure you are eating plenty of fat.

OP posts:
BigStickBIWI · 14/01/2013 13:18

slatternly - Little Gem lettuce leaves would make a good 'holder' for a dollop of pate. Or slices of cucumber, or pieces of celery.

OP posts:
PennyHofstadter · 14/01/2013 13:24

It did have all the skin on it BIWI so hopefully that will have helped with the fat content. Nope no sugar or honey, I'm a sweet free zone!! I had it with some green salad leaves and I'm about to tuck into avocado as well.

BigStickBIWI · 14/01/2013 13:31

Oh good! I hope you dressed the salad leaves with an oily dressing?

OP posts:
PennyHofstadter · 14/01/2013 13:55

Eek Blush I left my salad dressing at home by accident today. I promise faithfully to have something fatty when I get home.

BigStickBIWI · 14/01/2013 14:04

I'll be checking ... Wink

OP posts:
bulletwithbutterflywings · 14/01/2013 14:11

Ah well, I'll stick with normal coleslaw. :)

mumat39 · 14/01/2013 14:23

Thanks BIWI. I will try.

Is there a pattern to how the losses work out. My clothes aren't feeling any looser really which is whati was hoping for, so I'm wondering where the 4.6lbs came from IYSWIM? So I find myself focusing on the weightless.

Also, should I expect to lose the same again in the second week? I read somewhere on one of the earlier threads that it's possible to lose a stone in 2 weeks for some people so I guess I'd set my expectations slightly of high.

Thanks again, for answering all my questions, but also for starting these threads. I actually feel I'm in control of my eating for the first one in a long long time! Thanks

mumat39 · 14/01/2013 14:24

Does anyone have any ideas for what to do with left very roast lamb? Something simple and easy would be perfect.

Thanks in advance.
