get decent shoes - really worth it (I did what you are doing a couple of years ago, didnt bother with the shoes and knackered my knee) also a decent bra Wink

it gets better and makes you feel fab btw

also I found a bottle of water essential once I started running longer (I used to tuck it in the top of my leggings Smile)

I know you'd get fit and burn quite a few calories, but does running by itself make you slimmer? How does it compare with other exercises? Like, dunno, sitting on the sofa.

def burns more cals than sitting on sofa.

MrsBigD - well done that woman! the hardest step is the first one out the door.

My tips are to get decent shoes - and if you're serious about it buy from a proper sports shop not some spotty teen in a fashion sports shop. You'll get good advice and they won't make you buy something you don't need.

Keep up with the before and after stretches and when you are doing the running bit o your training don't go too fast. Stamina first, speed later.

Sign up for a Race for Life if there's one near you. Brilliant motivation and a great atmosphere on the day - it's all women and you can run/walk if you need to.

There's a runners thread on here in the Health section and a couple of 'new runners' threads about too. Come find us and say hello!

ok decent shoes is a first then :) Have a bra but that def needs updating as I must have changed size/shape after 2 kids Grin there's defo mor jiggle.

As for speed...SMBK... even a turtle could beat me atm Grin I'm defo going for stamina first, which I haven't got atm either :)
