Welcome to thread 11 of the Paul McKenna's I Can Make You Thin weight loss system.

The Golden Rules that will aid you on your journey with our like minded support system are:

  1. Eat what you WANT
  2. Eat when you are HUNGRY
  3. Eat CONSCIOUSLY
  4. STOP eating when you are satisfied and full

This weight loss system is about re-educating your body; learning to listen to it and in doing so losing weight and inches. After all, eating a meal is not a competition.

Many people have issues around food. Many of us have been brought up by the 'clear your plate' parents of yesteryear which leave us feeling guilty if we leave even the smallest morsel of food, but we are working through this guilt or any other hang up we might have, and we are learning to leave a bit on the plate; return to it another time if we really want to or even feed it to the dog or the bin!

So!! forget diets; they may work for a while, but they aren't permanent solutions. This is a new way of living for your brand new life!!

The Paul McKenna system really works and is easy to maintain.

I've C&P'd our previous threads links as they are helpful.

Here are the book choices on AMAZON which is all you need to get started! they aren't compulsory, but they do help! it's something to refer to and listening to the cd's can really focus you.

This is the tapping technique EXPLAINED - this can be useful to combat cravings.

You don't have to buy the book and CD, but we have found that they do help and somehow they keep you on track, so it would probably be a good investment and will cost you far less than a couple of trips to WW or SW meetings, so do consider having them in your life.

Please feel free to join us, whether it's 10lbs or 10 stones you want to lose.
We are friendly, supportive and successful, but we're not hungry OH NO we're not!!! so come on in and start living your new life today and make 2013 your year to drop a dress size or several.

Hi ladies!! May I join you? having referred to this thread on a thread in chat (iykwim) so I thought I'd mosey on over and have a look...
Ok, my story. I went to the seminar 2 years ago, knowing that Paul McKenna wouldn't work for me. I mean, really. Hypnosis? For being fat? Whatever. But, mum wanted me to, and I'd been having NLP counselling for about 12 months, so I thought I'd give it a go (if only to shut mum up!!).
Now, I never weighed myself. Slightly regret it, but I weigh "heavy". I'm 6ft, broad shouldered, big boobed, big hipped. I was fat, but proportional, if you get me. Anyway, the biggest trousers I was wearing were a 22. the jeans I wore to the seminar were a 20. that was February 2011. in the July I bought a pair of size 14 skinny jeans. Shock (though there were a one off. Everything else was a 16, though a little loose. But I don't like tight clothes)
18 months later and im a loose 18. So, 2.5 weeks ago, me and mum went back to the seminar, where we both had the hypno band fitted. This time I have weighed myself, and I was 107kg Blush the Friday after the seminar in the Saturday. (I had to go out and buy scales). I haven't weighed myself again yet, but I have gone down a notch in my belt today!! I may weigh in Friday... Or I may not. I don't care, I'm eating less, so something will happen.
Good luck and conscious eating to all of you, and thanks to having for pointing me in thus durectin.

lustybusty · 13/03/2013 20:59

Omg. Sorry, that was long. With typos. And missing capital letters. I'm going to blame the phone. Yep, definitely the phone. Grin Blush

HavingALittleFaithBaby · 13/03/2013 21:22

Ooh hello lusty! Welcome! :) I hope you'll find this thread a lovely support network.

7 shifts to go....

ppeatfruit · 14/03/2013 08:14

Morning lusty Grin Of course you can join us you're obviously an old hand so it shouldn't take much for you to get back 'into' it with or without the virtual gastric band. Yes as having ( you're not counting the shifts are you? !!!) says this is the nicest thread on MN.!!! IMHO Grin

Dottiespots · 14/03/2013 12:28

Hi Lusty.....Welcome. Smile

lustybusty · 14/03/2013 19:01

Thanks ladies!! I'm a bit embarrassed that I had to go back, but as mum pointed out, it's a bit like passing your driving test, the bad habits creep in without you noticing. The one biggie I have noticed, and was wondering if others find the same is...
I love cake/crisps/chocolate/junk. If I "eat what I WANT" that tends to be crap. Granted, a little crap (half a happy meal instead of large nuggets meal, double cheeseburger and mcflurry) but still crap. And the carbs. For the first week I pretty much just ate bread and crisps. But then I get a craving for veg and dip. So that's what I've eaten for the last week. I can only think I'm thinking (albeit subconsciously) "I know if I have proper food I'll be too full for the tasty tasty crap, so I'll just eat the crap", until my body becomes aware of the need for veggies... Has anyone else found this at all? Please? or is it just me being a weirdo?

nevergoogle · 14/03/2013 19:52

lusty, I was at the seminar back then too and did really well for about 6 months or so, but the bad habits crept back in.
i've been back into it for 3 weeks now, and this time with the hypnogastric band and so far so good.

8.5lbs lost so far ladies!

ppeatfruit · 15/03/2013 07:57

lusty you have hit on a slightly controversial topic on this thread Grin we usually get on, but there are different opinions about P.M.'s Eat what you WANT rule.

I have followed my Blood Type for health for many years (before going onto P.M. and do WANT to eat healthily) so reached my target size 10 and am maintaining.

But I bought a book called "Wheat Belly" by William Davis M.D. for DH and it talks about the addiction and subsequent huge rise in blood sugar (Dh is approaching type 2 diabetes) that is accompanied with eating wheat and all sorts of other issues.DH can't cope with P.M. but every time he stops eating wheat his belly goes down and he becomes happier and calmer and healthier. so that's one reason why some of us have issues with the Eat What You want rule.

ppeatfruit · 15/03/2013 08:01

P.Mc. does say if you know a particular food makes you ill then don't eat it.

ppeatfruit · 15/03/2013 08:02

Sorry never Congratulations Grin!!!

pimskie · 15/03/2013 14:52

Hi, I am just starting today....wibble....
Think the rules sound very straightforward and easy to remember, but not sure I'll know how to recognise I am full.
One thing I do worry about is that I am a terrible comfort eater. I scoff chocolate by the bucket load if I am stressed/upset etc. So clearly not eating when I'm hungry! Any advice how to sort that out?

lustybusty · 15/03/2013 16:42

never that's amazing!! I haven't got back on the scales yet, too scared.
pp yeah, hadn't managed to read all the thread when I posted, so all, please ignore that bit of my message...!!
pimskie have you got the new icmyt book? That should have either tapping or havening in it, a lot of people swear by both (I can't get it to work for me at all, I've had 2 counsellors and PM try to teach me and I still don't "get" it. I've also found (much to the amusement of my housemates) that when I get the munchies saying OUT LOUD "am I hungry or am I bored" takes away the "bored" hunger. Maybe you could try that? I also live about 10 mins walk from a little Tesco, so I don't keep chocolate in the house. If I want chocolate badly enough, I have to do the 20 min walk to go get some.
Good luck!!

ppeatfruit · 18/03/2013 09:59

lusty are you saying that P.M. has tried to teach you in R.L.!!!!Grin like PERSONALLY!!!! There's a few on here who'd quite like that Grin!!!!! There also some who think that he's a slime ball but I belong to the" he could hypnotise me any day" Grin brigade.

Cupcake1982 · 18/03/2013 10:43

Morning ladies,

I have been trying pm gastric band and have failed miserably :(
I think I might need to go back to the original pm plan as when I have done this in the past I have had more success. Everyone else seems to be loving the gastric band and some people have amazing weight loss with it but I just can't stick with it for some reason.
Any advice welcome (I have to overcome this or I will end up back at ww!!)

ppeatfruit · 18/03/2013 11:08

Cupcake1982 Morning and a big welcome back Grin (i vaguely remember you on here am I right?)

Everyone is different and if you used to do well then why not come back to us !! We're lovely and we're not offended Grin But I will say KEEP AWAY FROM W.W.!!! it's not a like it's a big deal to start on the P.M. way again is it?

Cupcake1982 · 18/03/2013 11:21

Thanks ppeatfruit,
Yes I was on here recently :)
You are right I do need to keep away from ww! last year I lost 3 stone on ww but I have put every last pound back on (and prob now a little extra too!) I have a lot of weight to lose but its also important to me that I start to feel confident in my body too and it stops me putting my life on hold in so many ways (oh that all got a bit deep then!!!!)

Plus how often should I be reading the book/listening to the original cd etc. Is it worth me still listening to the gastric band cd do you think????

I really want to do this :) xx

nevergoogle · 18/03/2013 19:44

had my first wobble today, i'm about 3 weeks in.

i got hungry while driving, so reached into my bag for a pack of those big lovely medjool dates. I ate 6, and i know that probably 3 would have satisfied, but just kept eating while driving. In total today I have eaten 9 dates (the whole pack).

And now i feel bad. Help.

I was hungry. I didn't eat consciously. I didn't stop when i was full.

Drat.

ppeatfruit · 18/03/2013 21:19

nevergoogle It's not a big deal we've all done similar Grin and we're not supposed to say its 'just' dates but it could've been creme eggs !!They give dh a bit of a 'tummy' I love them. It's as you said a wobble so not to worry just go back on it when you feel hungry again!!

nevergoogle · 18/03/2013 21:21

i may never feel hungry again after today!!!

nevergoogle · 18/03/2013 21:22

i'm going to make sure i keep my bag in the boot out of reach.

ppeatfruit · 18/03/2013 21:26

cupcake Just listen to the CD that you like most ( love going 'out' of it for a while so i don't like the one without the trance Grin) also read the book! TBH I haven't done either for ages i'm sort of 'in' the mode now IFYSWIM.

If you've given up on the gastric band thing might it be confusing to continue listening to the CD? I don't know 'cos alhough I read the thread about it I don't know enough about it to comment google might know more Grin.

ppeatfruit · 18/03/2013 21:30

It's the lack of consciousness when you're driving isn't it nevergoogle ? Though I'm no angel and when I'm really hungry I DO eat some figs or dates and walnuts when driving I don't overeat them. Now my homemade almond chocolate brownies can tempt me!!

nevergoogle · 18/03/2013 21:33

i do either CD to be honest. i listen to the 'i can make you thin' one more often than the gastric band but just listen to whichever one i feel like.

nevergoogle · 18/03/2013 21:36

yes, i really wasn't concentrating on the food. i think I was also thirsty, but didn't have any water to hand.

lessons learned...
put food in boot of car
don't forget water bottle
er, don't buy figs cause you'll scoff the lot.

Grin
Dottiespots · 18/03/2013 22:22

Im still not convinced that the Gastric band is safe but thats just me. I dont like the way so many people have said they feel odd, sick, pain, etc after installing it and i read that when its done privately that you have to have it uninstalled at some point. Sort of freeks me out making my body feel its had an operation. As I said, just me and i wonder if there will be any long term lasting effects. Time will tell but Im very curious. I listen to the original space out cd with the lovely countdown. Dont fancy Mr. McKenna at all but find his voice brilliant for sending me off. ha ha.
Welcome back Cupcake.....things is if you can do ICMYT normal than you have a tool you can use for life really. Whereas with the gastric band, it only works as long as your under the hypnotic affects and how do you know when it might have worn off.
