Welcome to thread 11 of the Paul McKenna's I Can Make You Thin weight loss system.

The Golden Rules that will aid you on your journey with our like minded support system are:

  1. Eat what you WANT
  2. Eat when you are HUNGRY
  3. Eat CONSCIOUSLY
  4. STOP eating when you are satisfied and full

This weight loss system is about re-educating your body; learning to listen to it and in doing so losing weight and inches. After all, eating a meal is not a competition.

Many people have issues around food. Many of us have been brought up by the 'clear your plate' parents of yesteryear which leave us feeling guilty if we leave even the smallest morsel of food, but we are working through this guilt or any other hang up we might have, and we are learning to leave a bit on the plate; return to it another time if we really want to or even feed it to the dog or the bin!

So!! forget diets; they may work for a while, but they aren't permanent solutions. This is a new way of living for your brand new life!!

The Paul McKenna system really works and is easy to maintain.

I've C&P'd our previous threads links as they are helpful.

Here are the book choices on AMAZON which is all you need to get started! they aren't compulsory, but they do help! it's something to refer to and listening to the cd's can really focus you.

This is the tapping technique EXPLAINED - this can be useful to combat cravings.

You don't have to buy the book and CD, but we have found that they do help and somehow they keep you on track, so it would probably be a good investment and will cost you far less than a couple of trips to WW or SW meetings, so do consider having them in your life.

Please feel free to join us, whether it's 10lbs or 10 stones you want to lose.
We are friendly, supportive and successful, but we're not hungry OH NO we're not!!! so come on in and start living your new life today and make 2013 your year to drop a dress size or several.

Hi Solo I've got the dreaded flu like cough\cold thing and i'm losing MORE weight 'cos my appetite's disappeared!! Grin How's things?

You're very welcome goldengirl I will say that we 've all managed to lose without the gastric band thing but what ever floats your boat Grin

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 16/02/2013 14:58

Hi golden - yes of course :) The main principles are exactly the same.

Hello Solo - how's work/course etc going? I know you were worried about juggling childcare etc - is that all going ok?

ppeat we've got a similar lurgy here, DH is especially afflicted (wouldn't you know!) and has retired to bed for the afternoon...

ppeatfruit · 16/02/2013 15:32

Ali Hi the worst thing is I haven't been ill at all for 7 years!! And DH who's on Lent and the 5:2 diet (which is working for him BTW) and is looking very self satisfied running about looking after me (it's usually always the other way round Hmm)!!

goldengirl18 · 16/02/2013 15:53

Afternoon all, I didn't know about the other books until after I'd ordered this from Amazon, I'm curious to buy the other book now,do you think it would be worthwhile?

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 16/02/2013 19:41

Golden I think 'I can make you thin' is amazing. It has really helped me with emotional eating, and there are exercises in there that help with body image and self-esteem issues. So I would say, yes get it.

Dottiespots · 17/02/2013 01:46

Were not moving away from the mindful eating that is PMICMYT . I dont tolerate carbs very well and had started eating them again but am trying to not have so many of them again. pp does her blood group way of eating combined with PM. No one was trying to stop anyone joining the thread, in fact there has been quiet a few new people on here. Were just all trying to find peace with our eating through PM but sometimes having to make a few adjustments to suite our own bodies.

KinkyDorito · 17/02/2013 08:53

I am back.

Less than 10 weeks left of chemo to go!

I was doing SW, lost a bit, but then started to regain LOADS. Now feeling massive, unwell, unfit and desperate to do something to break this cycle. It's been going of far too long now.

As I am certain I have a huge problem with white carbs - I nearly wrote crabs, but I find I get on fine with these when I meet one Wink - I am going to try to avoid. I know PMK isn't about avoiding, but when I am tired any plan I follow, including PMK, goes badly wrong, so I am working out strategies to try and avoid this happening. Knocking pasta binges on the head, that inevitable lead to chocolate, is one of my big ones.

I have been listening to PMK 'Change Your Life in 7 Days' for a few months now, and it has really, really helped me. I think I will alternate between the two recordings.

It is nice to be back. Sending much love. Smile Smile Smile

KinkyDorito · 17/02/2013 08:54

Ignore spelling. I am shocking this morning.

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 17/02/2013 08:59

Hello Kinky! How is DD?

ppeatfruit · 17/02/2013 12:03

Yes great to hear from you kinky Grin how is DD getting on as Ali says? (i think I'm psychic because I was thinking about you yesterday!!) P.M. DOES say if a food makes you ill don't eat it, we are all affected in different ways by different foods sometimes you can be aware of it sometimes not. Kinky I don't know if you know you can get wheat free pasta that's nicer than the normal stuff?

I'm being flippant here but my stomach has shrunk because I can't eat due to the flu (I'm sure it's flu because it's lasted for a week, it is unheard of for me to be ill for a week)!!Grin

KinkyDorito · 17/02/2013 15:13

Hope you feel better soon ppeat. I think i might continue with wholemeal - in measured amounts - as I know that when I eat this, it doesn't trigger binges. I know my pattern now and am determined to break it. I'm also trying to cut sugar, just because I am genuinely scared that if I keep going like this I am going to get something nasty. I'm just going to try and make better choices.

Hello to Ali too Smile.

DD is getting there. She has hospitalised after Christmas with flu - her jab didn't work. She was really poorly. But she's been okay for the last couple of weeks, with just 9 more to go. Can't wait!!!!

GlaikitFizzog · 17/02/2013 17:07

GlaikitFizzog · 17/02/2013 17:54

I'm not HowToLookGoodGlaikit, I think she was a paulette but I've not seen her around for a while. I'll have a scroll back and find the other thread. :)

ppeatfruit · 17/02/2013 18:56

Hi Cupcake.....dont worry about whats happened just get back listening to the cd and doing the four rules. Small steps. Doesnt matter how many times you lose it you can always start again.
Chin...how it going.
PP agree with you about the dresses in Boden....just meant that the sleeve length was a bit better maybe.
Glaikit here hopefully is the Face book link www.facebook.com/?sk=welcome#!/pages/Paul-McKenna-i-can-make-you-thin-my-journey/261435027219112
This lady has started her own journey with the gastric band and it seems to be working well for her.

nevergoogle · 17/02/2013 21:17

tb · 17/02/2013 22:06

Hi everyone,

I'm back at home after spending a rather horrid 2 weeks away.

I'm starting to feel well again, after 2 weeks of not eating properly. I seemed to have loads of missed meals, just due to circumstances, and flattened my glasses collecting some rather fetching scars in the process. It was really sad that I missed dh's birthday, too. Leaving home for a 2,500 mile round trip with a senile gps isn't something I'd do again.

However, I've now lost 11kg since November, and my waist is reducing. I bought a leather belt last week, from somewhere that makes them out of offcuts. I could only fasten it on the last hole yesterday, but today it's on the second one. Maybe I'm losing some of my gut at long last.....

I'm still eating the way I did in the clinic, although buying us a box of chocs from the cat as a valentine's present wasn't a terribly good idea......they're not as good as I remember, either. I prefer Aldi's chocbloc....

On the good side, I met some fantastically helpful people when I spent 5 hours driving around Shepherd's Bush looking for somewhere that I couldn't find. There were some lovely mechanics in Wood Lane who tried to help me find the right way, a taxi driver etc etc. Then there was the fantastic chip shop I found on the way north, who did scallops - thick slice of potato fried in batter - I haven't eaten one in years. Dh was really jealous.

Back to normal this morning, though, as I walked to the baker's, and had to fight my way through the old codgers gossiping outside the door. However, the don't seem to consider it gossiping, although they would if it were several elderly women. They were all in the bar, too when I went to buy the paper. Strangely, it's men's work to go and buy the bread and the Sunday paper that has the tv pages for the week. However, the butcher's was completely empty Grin

Dottiespots · 17/02/2013 22:28

PP well Ive searched and searched the " important columns on weddings this week but can find a wedding with black bridesmaids dresses. mmmmm. any more hints please???

Dottiespots · 17/02/2013 22:29

ppeatfruit · 18/02/2013 09:51

nevergoogle Are your Dcs at school in Dartington or Totnes? GD is at the CofE in Dartington.

Hi tb Can you eat normally or do you have to use a straw? Grin

HavingALittleFaithBaby · 18/02/2013 21:03

Hello all! Just poking my nose in to catch up with you all :)

Generally sounds promising for most. Tb, sorry to hear your time away was rough but sounds like you're doing well?

Kinky! How luffly to see you! Only 10 weeks to go :) Sorry to hear DD was so ill but it sounds like she's progressing on the whole?

I've got quite used to gluten free pasta after several years of it. I still miss proper bread but have adjusted to the GF stuff. ppeat was it you who offered to send me a recipe for GF bread? Cos yes please, I'd like it!

I'm 31 weeks tomorrow. Rather rotund, bump getting in the way a lot! Weight gain still hasn't gone too crazy (not obsessively weighing myself but) it seems to vary from between 7 and 9lb gain so far which I'm very happy with!
