Gt I get my nappies from Kiddicare -£20 for a months supply (or would be if dd hasn't had diarrhoa for the last 5 weeks Shock)

INeedThatForkOff · 03/01/2013 22:42

Whoops. Sitting on the sofa snuggling both DCs all day made me irrationally hungry (though looking back I think it might have been dehydration. Seriously, couldn't do anything without one of them screaming. Anyway, I've pulled it back by making the decision to stop before I completely blew it, and have totted up the points of the extra stuff I ate. I can cover it by using quite a lot some of my weekly points and get back on it tomorrow.

By the way, MSE has a link to a cashback site offering more than £30 on WW membership. WW 3 month online membership is also on offer, so it's effectively free Smile. I was going to do it on my own, but as a member I can use the online tracker to keep tabs.

kirrinIsland · 03/01/2013 23:48

Managed the evening without troughing too much. Chicken and rice for dinner and piece of bread just now. I really need to get some healthy snacks in.

I bought some porridge oats today - now I just need to train myself to like it!

I will do some form of exercise tomorrow, even if it's just a short walk.

GTbaby · 04/01/2013 01:24

apple what brand of nappies is that. We just use pampers ATM as like suckers we got some free so stuck with them.

Goatbongohohoandjinglejingle · 04/01/2013 01:47

Today was seriously crap on the eating front. The best I can say is that I went for a walk. Blush
I am looking forward to being in charge of the cooking next week so I can force veg on DH plan healthy menus. I am a Good Food fanatic and looking forward to happy wallowing in the kitchen. If When Babygoat lets me!
I also have a fab book called The Soup Bible - never had a duff recipe. Until yesterday. The celeriac, leek and spinach soup was so horrible I just chucked it Sad And I was so looking forward to it! Sticking to celeriac and thyme next time.

TheDetective · 04/01/2013 01:49

I am trying to remember what I ate today. But I can't remember anything until 8pm when I had tea?? Weird. Anyway, I had ciabatta with a small amount of mozzarella Blush and tomatoes. Not exactly healthy. But not terrible. I think.

Wracking brain... Did I eat anything else today? I don't think I did. Seriously. Hmm

Oh fuck. I did. I had some McDonalds chips. Duuuuh. It was the only place in town open for me to sit at 5.30pm with a baby who wanted feeding. I forgot. Why did I have them?! Whhhhy!

Anyway. Ignoring that... I have bought some things for the next few days, healthier snacks, some fruit, a cucumber (I luuuurve cucumber!) and some cherry tomatoes. Tomorrows tea is quorn fajhitas. Lots of veg to go in them. I have bought stuff to make a spag bol for Saturday, and it's the slimming world recipe I use, although I add more tinned tomatoes than their recipe as I don't like it so dry.

Exercise wise. I've been out the house. Walked around town for 2 hours, and asda for another hour. Does that count?! Also been sweating my imaginary bollocks off taking the decs down and hoovering. My hoovering is like an intense work out. I have to lift the Hoover at each stroke as it leaves my carpet looking shitty if I don't. So I'm lifting an 8kg hoover atleast 50 times doing the whole house.

I'll count that as exercise. Grin

I need to find something healthy for breakfasts. I hate cereal. I don't like any breakfast stuff really. Except the unhealthy shit like fried eggs, or pancakes.

Oooh, could try scrambled eggs? But then I'd want toast. And I don't like healthy breads! Just white. Which isn't going to help matters. Blush

TheDetective · 04/01/2013 01:52

I also cried walking round asda. Stupid effing perineum. :(

I need it to get better or I can't risk going for a longer walk. Might try aqua aerobics as that shouldn't hurt my lady bits, surely?

applecrumple · 04/01/2013 02:51

GT -just4bums. They're really good (apart from the fact that they smell of burnt almonds, which is a bit weird Blush)

applecrumple · 04/01/2013 02:54

Ouch detective poor you. Hope that gets better soon. Will the chlorine on the swimming pool hurt it though ?

yuletopian99 · 04/01/2013 05:15

horsey, valium and candy, thanks for responses... Won't go hell for leather (would be too much on the stitches yet anyway!), but dying to do something in terms of walking as the foul weather here has us rather cooped up indoors.

Have been eating largely as and when, along with dh, who is pretty healthy bar a major chocolate obsession, so we eat the same but minus the blocks of dairy milk on my part. Have used my fitness pal as a diary/food monitor for two years now,.just to keep an eye.
Yesterday got up v late so had:
Turkey omlette for lunch
Pate on toast at 6pm,
Homemade pre-frozen fish pie at 9.30pm
Left over xmas pudding.

Not exactly diet foods! (adds up to almost 2000 kcals with my pre birth intake about 1700 but with exercise on top of that to remove 350 cals..)

Iheartpasties · 04/01/2013 06:00

I have taken the lentil soup recipe! Thanks, will think about trying it out. It sounds quite nice and I?m sure it would freeze as well. I heard somewhere yesterday that Mushrooms are practically calorie free! I guess I will have to stop frying them in butter though!! But I have looked up some healthy mushroom recipes to try out. I love mushies.

And today I have squeezed some lemon in my water and tastes like squash! So that is cutting down on squash drinking!

I have had two good days with food and getting some exercise! Yey. Maybe one day this weekend I will weigh myself?! Eeek. Scary.

INeedThatForkOff · 04/01/2013 08:03

I've planned ahead today to try and avoid the late afternoon slump:

Weetabix & banana with skimmed milk
OJ
Nuts
Mini Crunchie Smile
Egg salad sandwich
Muller Rice
Filled pasta with sauce and veg

There, that's what I'm eating today.

DS is now more poorly and obvs I can't give him anything. Don't plan to take him outside. However I do have a hydraulic stepper which I plan to use for 3 x 10 mins. MiL is coming to help me today, so hopefully I'll get half an hour for a walk. I'll put DS in the sling to do some housework.

ValiumQueen · 04/01/2013 08:08

detective white bread is not saintly, sure, but it is a better option than fries so long as it does not have butter and other fatty foods on top. I find I cope better with the idea of adding healthier things to my diet rather than taking away nice but naughty things, and I do not do it all overnight in one go. I still have white bread at the moment, but one slice not twelve, and without the inch of butter and foot of cheese. In a couple of weeks time I will probably want to swap to a home made bread which is way more tasty.

ValiumQueen · 04/01/2013 08:12

Well done fork for planning ahead, and good to see it is pretty well balanced, substantial, and includes a treat! Also, you could easily use your circumstances to say 'fuck it'. Gold star for you!

INeedThatForkOff · 04/01/2013 08:22

Thank you VQ. I'll be eating white bread and pasta today too. My aim is weight loss, following a reasonably well balanced diet. Not interested in super healthy or low carb, because I just find it boring and won't stick to it.

ValiumQueen · 04/01/2013 08:35

Would low carb be bad for bf mums? My instinct is it would. Does anyone know any specifics? I am cutting back on complex carbs, but increasing veg and fruit.

OP posts:
applecrumple · 04/01/2013 09:02

I'm guessing it would Valium. Anyway what you don't eat your baby doesn't get either. I've cut out wheat but I've replaced it with other grains so I still get the carbs. Complex carbs are fine anyway

Catbag · 04/01/2013 09:10

apple you are magnificent! I did not know that it was so much cheaper to bulkbuy nappies online. Obviously with twins I go through thousands of nappies a day, so this represents a significant saving Grin Found a discount code worth 5% too (kiddivc19) so have just bought 360 size 3 nappies for £37. Harumble!

INeedThatForkOff · 04/01/2013 09:19

Oh fuck it. I was just about to do some exercise when DD yelled and woke DS. Now I'll be lucky to shower. I'm fast learning that good intentions are one thing, but actually fulfilling them with two DCs is quite another!

applecrumple · 04/01/2013 09:27

Happy to help! Smile Kiddicare are brilliant too - free delivery over £29 & a 1 hr time slot. We've bought lots of stuff from them, but be careful as some things are more expensive than places like JL. You just have to be savvy. Of & don't know if you've ever bought anything from vertbaudet? Their clothes are just lovely & once you sign up they always send you discount codes so you can get some real bargains. Worth noting though that their clothes do come in a little bit snug on baby

Iheartpasties · 04/01/2013 09:30

I am planning on being good for 5 days a week and then maybe relaxing a bit on the weekends. Just perhaps a treat or two over the weekend. We'll see how i go!

wannabedomesticgoddess · 04/01/2013 10:16

TheDetective I would be very careful with aqua aerobics if I were you. The water may help the pain but you might not be able to tell if you are over doing it and then the pain could get worse later.

kirrinIsland · 04/01/2013 10:48

Porridge is revolting :-(

Prolificmincepiebreeder · 04/01/2013 11:20

I agree with wannabe I did myself more damage to my pelvis when I did aquacise as I pushed myself, it didn't hurt in the water!

I got myself a bargain running jacket in Primark today. Quality seems good, it's black with pink trim, inoffensive £10. I'm pleased. Just waiting for the right size trainers to be delivered then ok off on my couch to 5k.

I'm doing the low carb boot camp-day 2. I'm struggling tbh. I need sugar and carbs. I know the first few days are the hardest. It's when I look at how my clothes fit and there is this 3 month pregnant tummy looking at me. Patience is a virtue.
Sorry for the rant, we are all stuck inside today.

Prolificmincepiebreeder · 04/01/2013 11:20

Kirrin I agree!
