Okay I am going to be 100% honest on this - rules are

Post your height, weight and dress size
what you want to achieve
post everything you have eaten and drank every day if possible.
Also post details of any exercise taken.
When someone has been over indulgent we need to help support and remind them why they want to lose the weight.

anyone up for this?

I will start

I am 5ft 5" and weigh 16 stones Shock
I am a size 20 (but try to squeeze into 18!)
I have never been skinny but would like to be able to buy clothes anywhere so get to size 14ish.
I will post details later of food and exercise taken.

Someone join me please?

I'm going to join you - although I warn you my statistics are not pretty, and I have a damned sight more to lose than any of you!

I have been overweight all my adult life, I'm a bit of a compulsive over-eater and I comfort eat too - I suffer with depression and the more depressed I get, the more I eat. I binge as well, and as a result I'm the heaviest I've ever been. I don't want to die of a heart attack before I'm 45 but at this rate I know that I probably will. I also had gestational diabetes when I was pregnant and would far rather not end up with diabetes either.

OK, so the statistics ...

I am 5ft 9" and weigh 21 stone
I am a size 26/28 bottoms, and a hideous size 32 tops.

My healthy eating and exercise plan starts tomorrow, because I can't go on the way I have been. I want to be around when my dd grows up.

Hello sanchpanch and WWB Smile

sanchpanch you really don't need to compare yourself with anyone else at the moment, you need to concentrate on yourself. She may be thin but I bet she has loads of issues of her own, and you're probably a much nicer person than her anyway.

WWB well done, you've taken the first step, you may feel that you have a long way to go but this bit is the hardest bit to do.

I've really only just admitted to myself that I have such a problem with binging and comfort eating. I haven't spoken about it much in RL either. I have a couple of RL friends who come on MN but I don't mind them knowing, however I don't think many other RL people would really understand.

My mood really affects my eating habits too, if I'm down I can eat a ridiculous amount of food, none of it good. I just need to re-educate myself to have a different response to the triggers I suppose.

schneebly · 12/04/2006 15:22

Hi Sanchpanch - glad you are doing well today - resist those easter eggs and ignore talk of exp new gf - you need to just concentrate on you!

Welcome Wigwambam and well done for joining us - you know what you have to do and so do we but it isnt always easy just try your best to stay positive and plan ahead as much as possible to avoid impulse eating - even include healthy snacks in your planning if you like and we are all here to support each other and help us achieve that goal!

I have so far had 2 slices wholemeal toast and a banana, snack of strawberries and yoghurt and some homemade soup for lunch. I am having spicy cous cous for dinner - I will post below how to make if anyone likes!

Soak your cous cous in veg stock and set aside.

Use fry light spray or small drizzle of olive oil in a pan and fry up some garlic, chillies, spring onion and red pepper until soft then combine with the cous cous - I usually make enough to keep some for lunch next day.

Anyone else having something nice for dinner?

also forgot to say if you have a 'bad' day dont use it as an excuse to give up - just draw a line under it and start afresh in the morning!

tangerinecath · 12/04/2006 15:25

We're having chicken breasts wrapped in lean bacon, with steamed veg and new potatoes.

Yum Smile

i need to lose about 2 stone but I am not divulging my weight on here - I just cant sorry. Ive recently lost about 18/20 lbs and do feel loads better although a lot of people say I look like Ive lost more which is helpful.

I will divulge my height which is 5'3.5 (it all helps) :)

Would love to be my pre-pregnancy size 10 again but realise that wont happen and would be happy with a size 12

tangerinecath · 12/04/2006 15:40

resisiting the temptation to smother it in lovely creamy peppercorn sauce (out of a packet, not home made!)

I WILL RESIST.

tangerinecath · 12/04/2006 15:43

Wow Jampots that's great! Any tips for us fellow dieters?

Am starting to feel like Marjory Dawes now!

Dust? Anybody? No?

Littlefish · 12/04/2006 15:56

I'm back - feel worse than before. Tried to buy some new trousers but it was a complete disaster. Nothing fits. If they fit on the thighs, they're about 6 inches too big round the waist. If they fit on the waist, it does not bear thinking about what they look like on my thighs and bottom.

I am dreading summer.

Think I need to go and see my gp - poss pnd.

schneebly · 12/04/2006 16:01

Wlcome Jampots and congrats on your weight loss so far! You can do it!

Littlefish - go see your GP asap, I feel better just having spoken to HV once and dont dread the summer because by the summer you will be slimmer! I know it is really hard to be positive sometimes esp when depressed but do you think losing some weight would make your happier? If the answer is yes then resolve to help yourself as much as you can by doing this wholeheartedly! Believe that you can do it and you will. Smile

jampots · 12/04/2006 16:03

well Ive been eating little and often (every 2-3 hours) mainly white meat, fish, vegetables, fruit although I wont pretend I havent scoffed the odd biscuit or slice of pizza :)

Also drinking loads of water makes me feel great - hot water especially and I also drink lemon juice in hot water quite often. Green tea too.

mazzystar · 12/04/2006 17:30

evening all

I have nearly stuck to the food doctor diet for three days. had to improvise a wee bit here and there (I draw the line at quinoa). was exhausted last night and the night before but a bit better today. the hard bit is that its no fruit for the first 7 days, and I'd ususlaly scoff a load of it. haven't managed any significant exercise but stomped around town today and dh has tommorrow off, so I'm going to go to the gym.

sounds like everyone else is feeling purposeful. i've really got to lose the weight this time.....

schneebly · 13/04/2006 10:57

Goodmorning folks =- how you all feeling today? Still eating sensibly? Still feeling positive? I am having a bit of a down morning and have the HV coming to visit to talk about PND but hopefully will feel better afterwards. Just had cereal for breakfast and planning leftover cous cous for lunch. Good luck for today. Smile

tangerinecath · 13/04/2006 11:35

Good luck schneebly - these things always seem worse before the event, it'll be fine :).
Had another lapse last night, ate one of dd's easter eggs that was in the back of my car on the way home from work Blush it was only a little one though.
I find it so very hard to resist sweet food when it's in front of me. It'll be easier after Easter when there's no chocolate hanging around.
Everything else I ate yesterday was healthy though.

mumball · 13/04/2006 12:30

mumball · 13/04/2006 12:48

Am going to get weighed tonight at S/world, so wish me luck, I haven't been for a couple of weeks as I have had other comittments (sounding very posh) bit worried that I haven't lost any weight. My big problem is nibbling, I eat my DS left overs as well Blush

CarlyP · 13/04/2006 14:18

my ll counsellor done a fab visualisationthing last night. where you visualise what you want to looklike, imagine the road infront of you, then step into the 'new' you, look back at the road......then go back to where you are today and you will realise its not so ba, and you will get there

tangerinecath · 13/04/2006 14:38

Hi all,
Had a great day eating wise so far. I always fall down in the evenings though.
Jampots I'm on green tea too, it isn't so bad if you neck it!
CarlyP interesting about lighterlife, I looked into it but I don't think I could manage a liquid only diet. I just need to train myself to stop the blowouts. The visualisation thing sounds really interesting though, I read the Paul McKenna book and it had similar things in.
Welcome Mumball :)

Schneebly how did you get on with the hv?

mumball · 13/04/2006 16:46

Thanks tangerinecath ! It's funny my worse time for being naughty is during the day, when everyone is home in the evening and we've all had dinner I am fine. I find it really hard being alone or just with DS as I pick at his food. I am really p-d off as well as I don't eat biscuits and crisps and I haven't touched any real huge amount of chocolate for ages, haven't even bought myself an easter egg this year. But I can match my DH plate for plate at meal times (sometimes more) I really need to lose weight for my holiday in august this year. as I am fed with being the fat women on the beach! What does the Green Tea do for you?

mazzystar · 13/04/2006 22:46

Green tea is full of anti-oxidants and very low caffiene so generally very healthy. I think there are some claims that it boosts metabolism but I am not sure about that. I've drunk it for years, I love it, but it is an acquired taste. If you don't much like it at first, you could try the twinings versions with pear and apple or grapefruit flavourings, really nice.

I was quite ill with digestive problems a few years ago, and was sent to a homeopath/nutritionist in the hope of avoiding surgery. She put me on a strictly sugar-free diet and it was amazing how quickly you can break the craving for sweet things - less than a week. My downfall is snacking and portion sizes. If anyone's got any suggestions to help with those I'd be really grateful.
