No spreadsheet to link to this week, as the LBD challenge is now over!

I don't know about anyone else, but I have definitely not had the greatest of weeks, and I'm keeping on keeping on until we get to Christmas.

Not quite sure yet what my own Christmas strategy is going to be, but I also guess it depends on where I've got to with my weight by then. I know that, having achieved my first major target of losing 2 stones, I still have more to go. So my next really major, very psychological target, will be to reach 9 stone. Something I have been trying (and failing) to do for the last 10 years! But now it seems so much more achieveable, especially with all you lot giving such brilliant support.

This week for me starts with a super strict day today. I'm out to dinner tomorrow, with a groups of ex colleagues, and venue is not yet chosen, but is likely to be a Chinese, which always brings its own problems. not to mention the wine

I'm also out to lunch on Friday, so it looks like Wednesday and Thursday will also have to be super strict!

(the main reason I was going was to have all the white covered up, so it was any appointment time I could get!)

DH has just said to me - yours isn't the only diet you know.

Little does he know.

We are going to take over the world.....

halfthesize · 03/01/2013 20:14

Grin @ wine

timidviper · 03/01/2013 20:19

Grin at hairdresser before gym!

The Hairy Bikers are driving me mad too! Why would you spend so long trying to make a low fat pie? Confused

The new thread is a bit scary isn't it? There are just so many people there. With all the demands for attention I think I'm realising how the octomum feels! Good luck BIWI!

MulledwineGless · 03/01/2013 20:32

I think BIWI needs our help so if its ok with you BIWI I'm going to answer to best of my ability any questions from new starters?

happygolucky0 · 03/01/2013 20:50

Hello everyone. I have look at the spread sheet (thank you). I have been trying out a few bits ready to get started for Mon. Gosh there is so much sugar in stuff I thought was low cal!! Anyway my question is .....Is it normal to feel so bloated from the water? If so is there anything to help? And will it get better. I guess it has been a shock to the system as my aim is the 3 litres! Thanks for any answers.

Doshusallie · 03/01/2013 20:59

I'm trying to as well mulled, you might have noticed!! It is scary though I agree, not sure I'm going to be able to keep up with all the posts like before when I go back to work next week.

MrsHerculePoirot · 03/01/2013 21:02

I am never going to keep up either after returning to work on Monday!

BIWI next time I go to the gym I'll look out for the highly coiffured member and come over and introduce myself Wink

MrsHerculePoirot · 03/01/2013 21:08

happygolucky come over to the new thread: here

But in answer to your question the bloating will go within a few days once your body realises you a going to keep drinking water and it doesn't need to retain it like a camel!

BIWIshYouAMerryChristmas · 03/01/2013 21:19

Thank you - I will definitely need help I think, especially as I'm back at work on Monday!

MrsHP - I didn't look well-coiffed for very long, I can assure you! Soon reverted to my usual red-faced, sweaty look. (And I won't at the David Lloyd for much longer - took umbrage at the price increases and have moved to Virgin Active over at Colliers Wood.)

OP posts:
MulledwineGless · 03/01/2013 21:21

A lot of new starters will be back at work / normal routine on Monday so it might calm down a bit

WillieWaggledagger · 03/01/2013 23:06

Thanks mrshp - I should be ok setting it up but might need a hand with weigh-ins start coming in on Monday as sometimes people accidentally move things or delete things and new starters might arrive, and like everyone else I'm back to work next week

Based on last time the numbers will almost certainly whittle down sadly, but we do always seem to pick up a few more long term low carbers which is really nice

I think my weigh-in will be dreadful, but I have to take the long term view and remember the position I was in this time last year and I am about four stone lighter I think

BIWIshYouAMerryChristmas · 03/01/2013 23:08

Wow, Willie - 4 stones down is fantastic!

MulledwineGless · 03/01/2013 23:10

4 stone Willie! That's brilliant
What a start to 2013

timidviper · 03/01/2013 23:17

Willie Well done on the 4 stone. I have put some on over Xmas but am taking inspiration from you and others on the thread and feel confident that I will lose weight this time. You "old hands" at this should all be proud of yourselves, it is your positivity that is driving this,

WillieWaggledagger · 03/01/2013 23:19

Shamefully I am now I think about half the weight I was this time two years ago! Low carbed the whole way, but with low fat too initially - bootcamp meant I could sustain it through to a weight that I was happy with.

Doshusallie · 04/01/2013 08:57

Wowzers willie. That is truly amazing, well done!!! You should share that on the monster thread, it will inspire people.

MrsHerculePoirot · 04/01/2013 09:02

Blimey Willie that is amazing! I am waiting until Monday to get started properly, this time next year my aim is to be one of the inspirational 4 stone losers (or upduffed!)

EwanHoozami · 04/01/2013 09:10

Willie that is bloody marvellous Thanks

Jacaqueen · 04/01/2013 09:18

Hi everyone.

Wow Willie 4 stone is fantastic.

I am away for a few days and have totally lost the plot so Monday will be my start day. I have been trying to keep up with the other thread but have lost the plot with that too. So many new posters but I will also try and be more help next week once husband and children are out of the way.

ToomuchheuchatendofHogmanay · 04/01/2013 11:20

Hello, just checking in to wave at all my old chums in case I lose sight of you under the wave of newbies coming at us!!! It's fab but also a bit scary, it's like the Low Carb Underground Resistance has come out from the shadows and is now manning the barricades, chanting and flag waving "we shall not be moved!"

Grin

I will try to help with questions too if that's ok. My work is quite erratic so am quite often home day times and out evenings so if I can answer I will. I think the idea of asking people to underline questions is great for spotting them on thread.

Anyway I shall shift to the interim thread now and look forward to chatting to everyone again. Am easing into things ready for Monday

Ps willie you rock!! Awesome!! Sorry Ds is watching Cartoon Network, I can only think in Disney-speak now!

BIWIshYouAMerryChristmas · 04/01/2013 11:55

I'm quite glad we have this thread going as well - feels like a bit of a safe haven, IYKWIM!

I actually had to sit down with a pad yesterday and take down notes of all the questions so that people could have their answers. I'm pleased, obviously, that low carbing seems to be such an attractive option for people, but a bit alarmed about what we - and it is 'we' now, not just 'I' - seem to have started!

OP posts:
JessicaWakefield · 04/01/2013 12:44

Willie that is absolutely brilliant, well done you! And I remember how inspirational your post was at the start of the last bootcamp describing your journey. All this and you understand spreadsheets!

JessicaWakefield · 04/01/2013 12:49

Was looking at the Diabetes UK website yesterday as DF is diabetic and was appalled and shocked in equal measure at their nutritional advice. Here is the UK's biggest diabetes charity which lots of patients look to for guidance and they're advising you eat basmati rice and brown bread. They are also predictably negative about the role of low carb diets in managing the condition. I think it might take many years for this woe to be recognised for the metabolic genius that it is.

Prolificmincepiebreeder · 04/01/2013 12:56

Wow willie that's brilliant! Congratulations!
I had a wobble earlier, not helped by ill grumpy DC. I thought of you lot and how welcoming you have been already! It spurred me on to keep going! So thank you all.
Lunch was: tinned pink salmon with cream cheese and watercress. Very satisfying.
Dinner, I'm not sure bacon and salad?
I've run out of eggs!
