no more Skinny Fat we're getting toned!!!!

How about a lovely new thread where we can pat each other's backs and applaud the virtue of all the exercise we're going to do to get rid of the skinny fat, and just be stronger and fitter?

What are you going to do? I'm not a massive fan of Jillian, so I'm doing different Tracy Anderson DVDs. I just did the post pregnancy one and may need some the therapy it was so hard ;)

www.nerdfitness.com/blog/2011/06/13/60-pounds-overweight-to-6-pack-abs/

i've name changed- i often do. I like the american council on exercise's chart on fat levels as you can define which category you go into. Even when i was only 19% fat i still felt flabby and needed to tone up. I was slim though- undoubtedly so, but far from emaciated as i was well within the healthy BMI for my height.

According to a chart i saw today, although my waist size is fine for my height ideally it should be smaller. Nurse i saw recently for a health check said it was envious but at 26.5 inches and a height of only 5.2 doesn't feel envious to me. I guess we all know when we feel ok about ourselves and letting things slide too much is IMHO dangerous.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Body_fat_percentage

the top link is interesting as it shows a young man's body change as he starts lifting weights, the final stage is most impressive, he loses virtually no more weight but drops body fat and looks so different. Wonder if there is a woman's story out there?

I can pinch a LOT of inches.... Having done some reading it seems hardcore cardio plus serious weight lifting is the way forwards but like I said previously I did the shred for a few months and it did nothing! I was a bit anaemic and my diet wasn't brilliant (not terrible either, but not perfect) so maybe this was why?

I run quite a bit but not since the summer cos I had a hip injury. It's still tender now :(

My scales often say error when working out my body fat, but is usually 24-26%
So how do I tone my arms and inner thighs?
Legs, bum and stomach are not bad from all the running (and bit of swimming and cycling) I do.

Morning all! Feeling a bit stiff today as upped my weights on squats and lunges at a class last night. Going to the gym tonight to try out the Powerplate, will try out the different exercises on it and report back.

Shit - have you tried tricep dips, push ups etc?

I've been to yoga tonight - lots of Ashtanga style sun salutations and many planks... My poor tummy is wondering what's happened to it!!

shit you could try Tracy Andersons mat workout / it's about 5 or 6 pounds on amazon and has the toughest arm workout ever. It looks so easy but is SO difficult and really great for strengthening your arms without lifting weights. It's only about 8 minutes long for the arm section of the workout. Yoga's pretty good too. I like it cos it complements running really well, stretching out everything that gets tight with running, and there's plenty of postures that use your arms supporting your body weight which is good for keeping them toned and strong. HTH xx

I don't know!!! The mat workout I have is the one with a pinkish cover, the one at the top of the list if you put "Tracy Anderson mat" into amazon. That looks like the US version. Or maybe she's releasing a new DVD?

new BodyBalance routine rolling out across the UK at the moment - a good time to start as even the experts will not know the routine so EVERYBODY will be getting it wrong!

Never got a shot on the Powerplate as everyone in the gym was looking for a shot, ended up doing another Body Pump class as everything else was fully booked. I thought it would be really hard as I had done the same class the day before but strangely not so much. Hmmm..May have to really rethink the weights I'm doing.

All the Les Mills classes will be starting new routines shortly, (in my gym after the new year) which inc Body Pump, Sh'bam, Body Balance etc which does make it a good time to start.

I have been hiding because I have not been exercising Xmas Blush and feeling ashamed at my lack of effort in comparison to the rest of you.

But, did an outdoor exercise class on the beach tonight. Consisted of:

Warm up stretches.

20 press ups, 20 high knee jumps.

Rugby-type drill, one person holds pad and braces, the other person drives with their shoulder up and down the beach while the first person tries to stop them (exhausting and kills your quads).

20 double kettle bell presses - with 2 x 10 kg bells (i.e. kettle bells from the ground, lifted and pressed above your head.

20 lunges while holding 2 x 10 kg - interspersed with single kettle bell presses.

35 more press ups, 35 sit ups - both using a bench to hang off for extra pain.

50 metre bear crawl.

200 metre sprint.

Warm down stretches.

I'm knackered but happy Xmas Smile

Hello folks, how are your Fridays going? I was out of the house from 7am till 10ish pm yesterday, so didn't do any exercise, funnily enough.

Today have had a bit of a full on with the kids and the house, should do a Tracy DVD but can feel an evening of beer and telly beckoning. Is anyone else being virtuous?!
