Week 7 - Little Black Dress Low Carb Bootcamp - Only 4 weeks left!

Confess all here

I see some have already been to check in this morning - fab!

So how are you all doing? I'm sensing that there's been a bit of wibbling and wobbling going on (present company included) so maybe it's time to have a couple of super strict weeks?

Given that the party season will soon be underway, a couple of Bootcamp weeks should consolidate our losses and hopefully get a few more of those pesky pounds out of the way.

The soup may not be too bad - I seem to recall that one of my low carb books has a recipe for carrot soup! And if you can make sure that you only have a small amount of cheese sauce, you should be fine.

Well yes but I think the doctor is assuming you're eating below your fuel level in order to lose weight (which we're not)

BIWI · 15/11/2012 18:12

Lavender I was thinking about you this morning, as I got off the scales, and about the apparently non-existent weight loss.

I said my rate of loss is very slow, which is true, and it can be very easy to get despondent about it. However, looking at the spreadsheet, I realised I am 5lbs down since we started.

Yes, that's less than a pound a week - but it's still 5lbs! And I'm really pleased. Stepping back and taking the longer perspective is a really good thing to do every now and then.

Come on ladies, get your thinking caps on

captainmummy · 15/11/2012 18:33

That is useful BIWI - i'm doing xmas this year for 6. It'll be turkey, but I was going to do lots of veg sides, and avoid the potatoes, yorkshires, stuffing etc (like I do with the sunday roast). Must get some xanthan gum for the gravy - anyone any idea where?

Will prob have to have some xmas pudd tho, and MIL always brings fruit salad and cream, and mince pies (even tho no-one eats them)

But I don;t do a starter, and there will be bubbly, and wine...

Doshusallie · 15/11/2012 18:48

Captain, Christmas day is all bets off. I will be having Christmas cake, quality street, roast pots, turkey sandwiches, cheese with crackers, the whole pigging shebang. I will no doubt have the most tremendous gut rot next day, but I am really looking forward to it.

hurricanewyn · 15/11/2012 18:55

Me too Dosh.

Have spent more time planning what I'll eat, than what presents I'll buy Blush

WillieWaggledagger · 15/11/2012 19:31

I tell you what I am going to have on Christmas Day. A mince pie (maybe two Wink). I adore them and would normally eat my own body weight but I will wait until Christmas Day and savour it

I'm not really too fussed about turkey etc and Christmas pud is bleurgh. I can take some 90% chocolate and that will keep me happy. But I am not missing out on a mince pie

JaxTellerIsMyFriend · 15/11/2012 19:34

Off out soon and I am starving!

sybilfaulty · 15/11/2012 19:56

Hello all!

Busy few days here, but LC all the way! I love this WOE so much that I really can't imagine eating bread, pasta, potatoes etc on a regular basis. Clearly I still miss toast but reckon once I am in maintenance a couple of slices once a week won't hurt. Now I'd rather keep shrinking.

Doshusallie · 15/11/2012 20:57

Tea was this. 4g carbs for the whole thing. Ate it with a whole courgette and a lot of broccolli. Delicious and I am very very full.

Have eaten a lot of food today:

Alpro yoghurt and 2 baby bels
3 egg omelette with yellow pepper and mushrooms
The above for tea

Celery and pate, 4 Brazils, pkt pork scratchings, and 2 teaspoons of peanut butter. A lot of food, all low carb but still.

Viperidae · 15/11/2012 21:50

Well my ice cream experiment worked! It was a bit too sweet so next time I will cut down the Splenda and it will be a treat rather than everyday food but, yaaaay, a low carb pudding!

I used 3 seperated eggs, whites beaten and combined with 1/4 cup Splenda, yolks mixed with 1tsp vanilla extract and 225ml double cream whipped. Fold it all in then pour into ice cream machine. YUM!

Apart from a blob of that I have had 2 rashers bacon, 2 eggs, prawns, salad, mayo and a handful of macadamia nuts.

Saw a friend today who was very complimentary about me looking slimmer!

Off to our friends for the weekend tomorrow and I have no control over the food at all so will just have to chill out then restart Mon. Am going to weigh tomorrow am as Monday may be too demoralising.

WineGless · 15/11/2012 22:10

Hi feeling better today although not much like eating

Talking of Christmas this Nigella recipe is pretty low carb apart from the white chocolate but nice as a treat

Lavendersbluedillydilly1969 · 15/11/2012 22:14

Just checking in. Have had a pretty rubbish week so far food wise but just excelled myself by munching my way through a 200g wedge of Brie. Not great but just had the real munchies and was the only thing I could find in the fridge. Must be better tomorrow.

Viperidae · 15/11/2012 22:15

Wine Ina Garten aka Barefoot Contessa has that recipe in one of her books but without the limoncello which would probably cut a few of the carbs out if you were that way inclined.

WineGless · 15/11/2012 22:19

Viper- I would rather cut out the cream!!! Grin

I love limoncello

JessicaWakefield · 15/11/2012 22:54

Wine really pleased to hear that you're feeling better. BIWI hope you're not coming down with sinusitis and that you feel on better form tomorrow.

Ewan I was thinking about you this evening after some unexpected bedtime issues tonight with DD 2.3 yo and I was wondering whether things have improved with your DS's sleep after implementing the paediatrician's sleep strategy? Hugs to you, this bedtime stuff can be backbreaking and utterly morale depleting Thanks.

WillieWaggledagger · 16/11/2012 07:36

Morning, hope illnesses are improving

I have miraculously lost 3lb overnight, which I am deeply suspicious of as I have been losing 0.5-1lb per week for months, and am mostly just trying to maintain really. I doubt this will last until the weigh in on Monday and is probably jut the scales messing about, but I did check twice!

BIWI · 16/11/2012 07:49

Supposed to be interviewing all day today, standing around in Boots, and I have virtually no voice now.

I can't believe how long this cold is lasting, and really thought I would be getting better by now, not worse! At this rate, I definitely won't be at the gym on Sunday.

OP posts:
sybilfaulty · 16/11/2012 08:11

BIWI, I had a cold thing this week that meant I had no voice at all for 3 days, with limited voice thereafter. It's on the mend now though but has been quite virulent here in SE London. Lots of adults affected but hardly any kids (though I know of course that yours are adults anyway). Take care, drink plenty of water (as if you wouldn't) and try to rest it as much as you can. You will have to be the smiling silent one on the panel who just unnerves the candidates by nodding wisely and asking just occasional questions.

Get well soon

WillieWaggledagger · 16/11/2012 08:19

they were saying on the news today that you should expect a cold to last up to two weeks! try to keep warm. interviewing standing up all day sounds exhausting

BIWI · 16/11/2012 08:28

Ah. Not job interviews but market research interviews. And I'm on my own, so no-one else to do the talking!

And yes, standing up all day ...

OP posts:
Jacaqueen · 16/11/2012 09:24

Sorry to hear so many of you are not well.

I know exactly how you feel.

I have had this cold for 2 weeks now. I think it has 'gone to my chest', as my mother would say. My back is still really sore, I think with all the coughing.

I am spaced out with all the pain killers, house is a tip and I just have too much to do. I dont have time to be ill.

I had loads to eat yesterday.

B. Lidl yog with chocolate protein powder.
L. Pork belly slices. 4 of them.
D. Sausage, egg, ham and mushrooms.
S. Pork scratchings, 85 chocolate and more yoghurt.

I just didn't fancy any veg as my taste buds are not right at the moment.

Having said that I think I am going to make a really spicy cauliflower soup for lunch.

EwanHoozami · 16/11/2012 09:46

jac bloody good plan RE the soup, I might pinch that idea. Hope it eases the pain a bit, I'm a great believer in a medicinal soup.

Jessica sorry that you had a bad night and thank you for thinking of me. We took the pediatrician's advice for about a month (i.e. to keep 3yo DS up until 10pm to 'reset' his sleep clock) All that happened was that his behaviour during the day totally deteriorated with some fearsome tantrums and he kept falling asleep in his lunch Confused - night times were as bad as ever

hurricane - the cottage pie was pretty good with chicken livers, it made it taste richer and more gravy-ish without having to add any floury thickeners to the sauce.
