2lbs a week for 35 weeks- anyone in?

I have a pretty big move coming up in just under 9 months. want to be at my ideal weight by then. This will involve losing a minimum of 5 stones (70lbs). I have come to the conclusion that doing a crazy all or nothing weightloss plan isn't going to work for me. what ordinarily happens is that I lose loads to begin with, then it all goes to pot and I put it all back on again.
So... would anyone like to join me. My first target is 10lbs by the end of november. I will just be eating lower carb, less snacking, more exercise where possible (7 mo dd and dh who works shifts, so a bit of a challenge sometimes!).

Evening all, that time of the week again is it? Chocchip if you carry on like this you're going to be a lot lighter than must of us. Tell me to mind my own but do you mind me asking how old/tall you are? Oh and well done on your weight loss.

Thanks both!
MrsL I'm 33 and 5ft 8. If only I was a couple of feet taller I might be in proportion!

Hello,

I have lost 1 lbs. not much but I have to get used to the fact that due my PCOS I lose the weight slower than other people. I started the shred again and I am on day 9. My muscles are in pain but I start to see a difference. I really need to drink more.

How is everybody else getting along?

Can I join? I have 3 stone to loose Sad I am the heaviest I have ever been and now have a wardrobe full of clothes I can barely wear. Something needs to change. I don't know how to start, what plan to follow but as I do no hardly any exercise I'm hoping if I start moving my arse the weight should come off. Any tips, help, support, encouragement would be so gratefully received Smile

XBenedict welcome!
I do Slimming World, I think a few people on here do low carb. Have you looked at My Fitness Pal? It tells you how many cals you need to eat to lose 2lbs a week (or whatever you want) and then you record all the food you eat and any exercise you do.

Well done MrsNJE.

I'm 2lbs less on the scales than last weighed, don't want to weigh again in case it changes.Grin

still on track, having mumsnet as peer pressure is my incentive. The low GI diet info is good for making me feel full sooner (smaller portion sizes) and for longer, now I just have to tackle the boredom/comfort snacking.

Will anyone be taking a few weeks off from dieting at Christmas? I'm already dreaming of the food I'm going to buy (namely cheese) Blush

I tend to spend all xmas grazing rather than eating meals, with the exception of xmas dinner and a family birthday where we have a meal out. I also eat things I would never let myself eat normally never mind when on a diet!

Ahh the tragic moment where you try to pinch the children's haribo and can't open the packet. That'll teach me :(

MrsLHofstadter · 23/11/2012 22:01

Haribo are far too tasty Sad

Has anyone ever tried anything other than diet and exercise for weight loss?

I was trying those XLS medical tablets but didn't really notice a difference :/

I was reading about those recently, people seem to have really mixed views on them. Heard two girls talking about inch loss wraps and laser lipo this week, not sure if I'd do anything like that though.

It's all gone horribly wrong. Can someone kick me up the arse/wire my jaw shut?

Come on choc, start again tomorrow, forget about today. I had a hen weekend so I too need to get back on it tomorrow. We can do it!

MrsLHofstadter · 25/11/2012 22:53

I wouldn't let one day/weekend get you down after how well you have been doing. You'll get back on it and put us all to shame as usual Wink.

I've broken my scales Blush I think the last 6 years have been too much for them, the constant up and down and then further up than before has taken it's toll at last...

Oh no!! That's terrible, how will you be a serial weigher now?!

I've no idea, it's actually stressing me out not being able to weigh myself several times everyday. I think I have scale addiction.

I'm in. I decided tonight that I need to start shifting this weight. I am a size 20 and I need to lose 5 stone according to my 'True Weight' calculator for Dukan. The problem with Dukan is that I can only afford to spend £40 shopping for a family of four and eldest DD doesn't like meat so the Dukan would be pretty difficult. There would have to be almost no meat and a diet of just oat bran and eggs :/.

So I'm going to use MyFitnessPal again. My calorie intake will be no more than 1400 a day, I'll eat well with potatoes, some meat, fish, vegetables etc but cut right down on bread and no sweets/cakes/chocolate. It's going to be hard but I'm giving myself until next summer as the Dukan plan told me I could do it by mid-August.

I'm very nervous as I can't get in a lot of exercise due to a painful condition so walking will just have to suffice.

I start at 8am. I am incredibly nervous.

ellargh I'm sure you will find all the support you need here, there is always someone around (I don't sleep, seriously).

Add yourself to the spreadsheet if you like and dive right in. We don't bite, as long as we've been fed Grin.

I use food focus which is essentially the same as my fitness and have 1500 cals a day. Maybe we could start a menu/recipe swap?
