Week 1 Weigh-In - Little Black Dress Low Carb Boot Camp

WillieWaggledagger · 30/09/2012 16:17

i know you're all dying to get started on the low carb boot camp, and for those who haven't done this before, here is the link to the spreadsheet where you should record your starting weight for Monday 1st October in column c next to your name. Please don't touch any other columns for now

weight is recorded in lbs, so if you have problems converting from kg or stones, FiddledeFat made a handy widget which can be found in the tab at the bottom labelled 'conversion'

if your name isn't on the spreadsheet then you can add yourself by adding a new line and dragging the formulae down from an adjacent row, or just ask me to add you and I will do so as soon as i can

good luck with the first week of bootcamp!

MiM = Muffin in a Minute. No good for bootcamp and to be honest I think they are pretty vile.

caramel it gets better, promise you that.

Gosh - so many posts since yesterday afternoon! So many delicious new meals to try out. Bake Off was good/torturous wasn't it? Although I'm gutted Catherine went, I thought she was lovely. Anyway... moving on! Similar to yesterday.. breakfast was yogurt, cinnamon, coconut oil, chromium! Never thought I'd be having that for breakfast a few years ago (Special K and skimmed milk was the old breakfast du jour.. and I was a LOT heavier than I am now...) Lunch has been the old faithful scrambled eggs (2), parma ham, parmesan, leftover veg (green and roasted). Hmmmm tonight.... thinking I might go for something comforty. BIWI's Moussaka looks delicious, or Bee's Chilli Bake from the IPD cookbook... ( I can tell the weather is on the turn..)

My colleague at work is doing some (frankly ridiculous) super low cal / low fat (hissssss) diet. She looks utterly miserable and wretched and gazed upon my scrambled eggs and melted butter with a mixture of hatred and hunger. ".. you eat AVOCADO??? BUTTER?? (horrified) CHEEEEEESE????? ..." etc..

I have tried to explain the virtues of ditching the sugar laden cardboard crap she's eating - yes, I have spied 'Go Ahead' bars people. It's falling on deaf (ravenous) ears though ....

Thinking of you WineGless.

Can thoroughly recommend the salmon burgers from www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/7712/superhealthy-salmon-burgers absolutely gorgeous dinner.

Today has been good so far, 2 boiled eggs mashed with butter for breakfast and a buffalo mozzarella and avocado salad at lunch, this was out so slightly suspicious of the dressing but hoping not too disastrous.

Dinner will be ginger pork "faux" fried rice, don't think I will bother telling DH it's cauliflower rice and see if he can tell. Think upping the water really is helping with energy levels as feel so much better today.

Hope everyone has a good day.

caramelwaffle · 03/10/2012 14:18

Thank you Jax

Oh that sounds grim Limonata

butterfliesinmytummy · 03/10/2012 14:19

Had a good day today, lots of salmon, threw leftover tandoori chicken in mayo and had that with salad for lunch (coronation chicken?) The best news is that after 3.5 days, my head has cleared and I feel totally on the ball (good news as I'm a swimming teacher so not being 100% alert is potentially dangerous...)

Still drinking lots and lots of water but not weeing as much - does your body adapt or should I be over 3 litres? Shock

caramelwaffle · 03/10/2012 14:21

BIWI bought shares in Andrex. She is now super rich*

*this is a total lie

butterfliesinmytummy · 03/10/2012 14:23

I thought she'd bought up all the carb-free mayo and was selling it for vast profit on ebay*

*another total lie

caramelwaffle · 03/10/2012 14:25

No. It was the celeriac farms, and has created a mafia at the Farmers markets*

*lie, lie, lie.

Collywibbles · 03/10/2012 14:38

Please send me be strong vibes lol! I have got to bake a cake this afternoon for the SSAFA big Brew-Up tomorrow! Although I don't actually feel like eating cake so I should be ok! I am going to make Lorraine Pascale's Peanut Butter Squares so don't really have to "bake" either - bonus!

Did another Tabata session followed by Bokwa this morning - my legs are now officially broken! (Not literally obviously!)

butterfliesinmytummy · 03/10/2012 14:48

Wow Colly you put in all that work, don't undo it with something as lowly as a peanut butter square! Strong vibes heading your way.

I made apple, oat and maple syrup cookies yesterday for my kids and although I would normally have scraped out the bowl and scoffed tasted a couple, I managed to keep my halo straight. If I can do it, anyone can (and I still have no idea what Tabata is)

Doshusallie · 03/10/2012 14:52

Colly wobbles I have never even heard of the types of exercise you're doing. Are you in japan? And I bake a lot and can resist my products quite easily these days, sweet tooth has gone completely. Good luck!

Re cramps - I now get them much more often than before this woe....if I bend over for too long I get a cramp in my side or tummy for eg. I think it is directly related to the water I drink, so do eat quite lot of salt.

B: Greek yoghurt
L: 2 frankfurter sausages, 2 boiled eggs and a celery stick with ate and coleslaw. All eaten standing at the fridge door, against IPD guidelines but hey I'm busy.

Did a 2.5km run this morning, first since tri on Saturday.

caramelwaffle · 03/10/2012 14:54

For example.

High intensity workouts, with short intervals from what I can gather.

I'll be trying those in the morning Confused

tartiflette · 03/10/2012 15:04

Hullo all, been off the map for 48hrs due to two vomiting toddlers. Have stayed strong though. Just torturing myself by watching the bake off while they nap...

WineGless have been thinking of you and those you work with today.

BigStickBIWI · 03/10/2012 15:25

If only I got commission from everything Grin!

caramel - I hate doing burpees! And such a ridiculous name.

Hope the DC are better, and you don't catch it, tartiflette! (Goodness I wish you'd change your name. I have no problem with any of the 'sweet' names, but yours makes me drool every time I read it!)

Collywibbles · 03/10/2012 15:29

Nooooo! I am in UK! Tabata is a high intensity workout - you do 20 seconds exercise then rest for 10 seconds - repeated 8 times and then you change exercise and do it all again for 8 different exercises. It is short, sharp and knackering! Bokwa is a new aerobics type thing but not too dancey (I am hopeless at Zumba) - it is based round letters which you learn different steps to! Great fun and very sweat inducing lol!

Collywibbles · 03/10/2012 15:31

Can I just say I don't quite do my burpees like that Caramel! - I am more of a wibbling wreak!

Jacaqueen · 03/10/2012 15:37

Colly it's like you are talking a whole other language.

NewStartSameStory · 03/10/2012 15:42

So far:
B: 2 eggs scrambled with 2 pre cooked (by me) sausage cut up into it
L: 1 little alpro yoghurt pot
Fell into bed with thumping headache for a nap woken up with thumping headache, shakes and a temperature. Not sure this is lack of sleep catching up, tail end of virus I have had or carb flu. I am very much looking forward to returning to my bed shortly and have completely lost the will to eat again (head) stomach otoh says I need to eat something proper. Might cook a load of frozen broccoli/cauliflower and stick some cheese on it.

halfthesize · 03/10/2012 15:51

trying to think of something to do with chicken breast and broccoli as that s about all I have in the fridgeConfused do have some garlic soft cheese!!

BigStickBIWI · 03/10/2012 15:52

You need to eat more, NewStart. You can't possibly just have a small pot of yoghurt for your lunch! And what about fat? Was there much fat in either your scrambled eggs or your yoghurt?

I know that carb withdrawal isn't good, but you need to be a bit kinder to yourself as well, and depriving yourself of food is not the way to do it.

LittleFrieda · 03/10/2012 16:12

Is it OK to eat this salmon dish from Waitrose (it's 1,2g carbs per serving)occasionally? With some brocolli and salad greens? I see no problem with it but what am I missing?

here

Jacaqueen · 03/10/2012 16:25

I would eat that everyday very happily. Its not exactly a ready meal is it.

captainmummy · 03/10/2012 16:27

Oh BIWI - across the back of the legs with the stick for me! I went to my friends for coffee (she has a new machine she is very proud of, but it does the strongest coffee...) and she'd made banana bread - she can't cook either but was so proud of this I had to have a slice. MFP puts it at 40g carbs!

Oh WOE is me.

CakeMeIAmYours · 03/10/2012 16:39

Turns out my 'Carb-Flu' was actually caffeine withdrawal - pleased to say that a double espresso has sorted me out.

Either that or Ketosis has kicked in suddenly?

NotAgainAndAgain · 03/10/2012 16:40

is cauliflower cheese bake on the list?
My choc withdrawal is easier now, raspberries sent into the freezer for the future.
But is there any "sort of pudding" at all? Some almond bake sort, i crave for the texture. Anything at all?
