Is the 5:2 diet the same as the Genesis diet?

... that's it really; just wondered if anyone knew...from what I've read it seems that the Genesis diet is two days of consecutive fasting whereas the 5:2 is two non-consecutive days?

I started off on the genesis diet but after 2 weeks found it really hard going as i felt I was very restricted. I've been doing the 5:2 since (though I actually do 4:3) & find it far easier & yes the principle is the same. Good luck.

Thanks. Why did you think it was harder Aftereights?

sorry...you said it was more restrictive...is that because you could only eat the low calorie things the diet said rather than making your own choices?

Basically yes. On genesis I've still been able to go to eat lunch/dinner with friends on fast days & join in a low calorie meal. Don't sniff at it though I've lost a stone in 6 weeks. Come & join us on the 5:2 thread!

WOW! that's amazing -I'll give it a go.
