When will I notice any weight loss????

Over the last six weeks I've started doing a spin class once a week, a run once a week and have now built up to doing the spin class plus two or three 30 min runs a week.

I'm eating exactly the same because I already have quite a restricted diet for medical reasons so I think restricting it any more and I'd lose the will to live! So just trying to lose weight by exercising.

I'm 5'8" and weigh 12 stone. Dress size 14/16. Since going from very little exercise to doing what feels like loads of exercise, I have lost no weight at all. I'm not bothered about losing weight to be honest, I just though I might start to notice clothes becoming a bit looser. But no. Nothing.

Will I gradually start to notice at some point? Or is the only way to start dieting as well which I know I'll be crap at because I have zero willpower Hmm

it will take about 6 weeks to see changes IME - and am exactly same height weight and build as you - so know from bitter experience - and to be honest, I only did with adding in a "diet" - weight loss is 80% diet 20% exercise .. you will tone up and look better but scales possibily will not budge too much..

20% exercise and 80% diet puts fingers in ears la la la...

Is that really true? I really am rubbish with diet type things. I actually eat quite a healthy diet but I know I just eat too much. I appear to lack the part of the brain which says 'right you've had a big plate full of dinner, you do not need to go back for seconds'.

Will keep on with the exercising and see how it goes.

Does your body look any different if stand naked in front of mirror?

I have upped my exercise, eat the same, just like you. I have been doing it for 10 weeks now. I have lost 3lbs, BUT I must look slimmer as quite a few people have commented on my 'weightloss' even though I have lost and gained more than 3lbs in the past and not one person has noticed!

If I pay attention, I can see my thighs and hips look slimmer and tummy bit flatter. I am doing weights though and that it mean to help enormously.

Just keep going for a whilse long, try up the intensity of the exercise if you can (run a bit faster or a bit longer maybe?)

I would carry on as you are and ignore the weight side of it and just focus on how much better you look and feel - if you can not reduce your food, it is mad to use weight as measure of your success.. I recently took part in a bootcamp trial which was massively hard- 1 hour of full on bootcamp exercise every morning and 30 mins of burpees in evening with a strict diet attached... I followed it all and lost the same amount of weight as someone who could not exercise (same size weight sex as me - so almost a control) but just did the diet - that did teach me a lesson! the trainer also said that weight loss is more diet related but exercise helps you feel and look better and slimmer...

I exercise loads but limiting food and drink is the easiest way to see a difference in a reasonable length of time. I think you should start with dropping the seconds and then maybe move onto smaller portions of normal food, that way you are not omitting your food choices.

Thanks all. I'll definitely carry in with exercising because it makes me feel good and I enjoy it. Just need to try and exercise some will power with the food too.

I don't think I look any different when I look in the mirror but I suppose if I carry on I'm going to at least get a bit more toned even if just in my legs.
