Now I just need to go. Well done to all the slimming ladies on mumsnet! Keep up the good work! :) I'm going to try and find inspiration in this part of mumsnet from now on. :)

Well done! what do you plan to do? Classes?

Gemtubbs · 11/09/2012 20:09

Thanks for replying dontpetthesweatythings. :) I went along today and just had a little go in the gym. Classes are included in my membership, so I do hope to try some. I find the gym itself a little bit boring/embarrassing/painful.

Ah! You will get over it trust me, I was the same. Just remember - no one is interested you, they are all concentrating on their own thing!

I struggle in the gym with out my music, got an ipod or something?

Classes are MUCH better while you start to get fit
Zumba
pilates
Yoga
Bodybalance
Spin
Aqua
Bodyvive
Salsa
are all good for those new to the whole thing

Well done! Classes are the trick, especially if you are looking to lose weight and increase cardiovascular fitness. The list that TalkinPeace2 gave are all good for beginners, although Spin can be a bit of a shock to the system the first time.

Once you've got your confidence up a bit, get one of the Personal Trainers to show you how to use free weights - they are much better than the weight machines, which mainly encourage bad habits.

I went to my first ever class today (body combat) and go for my gym induction next wednesday.
I was really, really scared but the guy doing the class was friendly and even though there was only 5 of us I couldnt have cared less when we got started as I was too busy trying to keep up with the moves.
I have booked myself in for a class each morning next week and cant wait until I can get into the gym.
Good luck.

Well done on doing Combat - its a tad energetic for me !!!
best thing is to try LOTS of classes and then settle on a mixture that makes you hurt a little bit each week.

It wasnt untill I came out and seen someone I used to work with waiting to go into the next class that she told me it was one of the harder ones to do so I was pretty proud of myself on all counts. Grin
Next week I have total body workout, bums tums and thighs, body combat and kettlercise booked in and body pump the next monday as part of my try them all thing.
I have done all but the newest Jillian Michaels dvds so am not really unfit just overweight.
