Hi
I did two weeks on the 5:2 diet with some exercise on the days I wasn't fasting which was fine, however, I'm now back to about 10 hours a week, and am finding it along with the cooler temperatures, very difficult. I've been sort of compromising with the fast days being about 900-1000 calories instead.
I too wanted to lose about half a stone, and just 3 pounds to go, so am less motivated!

I have been fasting and today did spin on a fast day - it was fine

I run 20 miles a week - I'm on my 4th week of the 5:2 diet and I have not lost any weight....exercise is fine though, I normally eat a lower carb diet.

My colleague did the 5:2 diet - he has just given up because it didnt really make any difference to his weight.

I didn't think that weight lose was the point - it was about changing markers in your blood - the weight was a possible by product

I wouldn't say I do a lot of training, but I do weights on the 5:2 diet with no problems. I work out usually in the morning before eating whether it's a fast day or not. Doing lots of cardio on a fast day I would imagine would make you hungrier, so more difficult, but some people seem to manage it. The 5:2 diet seems to affect people differently, so I think you would just have to try it and find out.

Ivykate weightloss may not be the reason why you chose to fast but for many others it is an important factor in convincing them to do it in the first place.

tellemlate, but if you use this two day fasting for losing weight with the idea that it is a diet that may cause confusion and if they don't lose weight they will then give up - like the persons friend - which means they will not gain the health benefits as they stop.

I swim a mile most mornings and do up to two classes a day
and am now doing 5:2
see no reason to change any other part of my routine - I normally do the gym before eating anything in the day.
