How to get back in the zone after a weekend off the diet?

I've been counting my cals on mfp all Summer Hols. I am in this for the long haul so intend to carry on after next week once the kids are in school (and I'm back at work).
I've lost a few lbs, but not as many as I'd have liked. I'm fully aware though, that I'd have put weight ON if I'd not been careful over the last 5 weeks.

I've decided to have the weekend off. Then it turned into the long-weekend off.

I need to get back on to it tomorrow and stop being lazy about my planning of meals or making sure my portion sizes are sensible.

It is really hard when you need to get back in to it and for me the fear of the scales at slimming club does the trick!! Ive been going for about 18 months and lost 4.5 stones. I have just had a really really really heavy 4 days of muniching on everything I shouldnt and today was my first one back on the wagon! For me personally it helps if i try on something I have recently purchased (something a bit fitted) and if I feel it isnt as comfortable as it was say last week or the week before it helps spur me on. I also fill up on LOADS of fruit and veg so my hands are permanently occupied but with strawberries rather than malteasers! Good luck, hope you find your groove again! :)

Thanks for your reply. I think I'm back in the zone.

I made the mistake of weighing myself this morning instead of waiting til I'd been eating sensibly. I've put on 2lb (!) but hopefully a lot of that will drop off quickly again. Basically, I'd undone all the good work I'd done for 5 weeks. Some of it will be the weight of the food I'd eaten hopefully, but we'll see.

I've not done the classes route this time as failing at an official weigh in would often see me throwing in the towel. I'd love to be able to pinpoint what I did differently 2 years ago, when I dieted over the Summer, lost lots and went on to get to goal .

I am a little over my cals on mfp today, but haven't eaten for Britain. The only way is up! (And Zumba tomorrow will earn me extra cals too).

Believe me my scales at home can be one weight on a monday and then 2 pounds heavier on a tuesday depending on what I have eaten!! It really can be down to one big meal and excuse my crudeness but if you have had a trip to the loo or not!! :) I have been hovering at the same weight for about 6 weeks now an I CAN'T seem to get below it so I feel your pain! I also put on 3 pounds about a month ago and I could have punched someone I was so angry!! Great that you are doing Zumba though....I am infamously lazy and I am trying to avoid admitting that I need to start excercising to boost my weight loss again! I am going for a pre weight watchers weigh in tomorrow so fingers crossed!! Good luck this week! :)

Thanks Marmalade. I've dropped that 2lb already, so you were right.
