Sorry the main reason I started this thread instead of reading all the others was because it's difficult to keep up on the fast paced threads. Once i get the gist of it I will join onto one of the other threads.

SO...Can someone explain it to me in plain English Grin

I missed the Horizon program and cannot find it on iplayer.

Am I right in thinking I eat as normal 1 day then the next I fast (eating no more than 500cals) Is it really that simple???

So if I started today with a fasting day can I drink my tea as normal? (skimmed milk no sugar)

And finally, if I am hungry, am I ok to eat an apple/grapes and possibly something like scrambled eggs on toast or even a jacket potato later??

I am hugely overweight :( but I don't eat stupid at all! so I must admit I am hoping this is something that could work for me.

There are two different diets.

The Horizon programme was the 5:2 diet where you fast for five days out of seven.

Then there is the alternate day diet where you eat normally one day and fast the next.

On both diets you eat a maximum of 500 calories on the fasting days. how you use these calories is up to you so, yes, you can drink tea and deduct that from your allowance.

you fast for 2 days out of seven, not five. You'll be very ill if you fast 5 days out of seven.

I think it's the alternate one that I was thinking of then (or even just fasting 3 days so mon, weds and fri.
Thankyou for your replies, I just wanted to make sure I was understanding it right Smile
