Craving stodge for the first time in ages...help!

I have been doing really well for the last six weeks. Have eaten well and lost weight, haven't really found it tough at all - on the contrary, it's been relatively easy. I am not low carbing as such, but have increased my protein intake and cut out sugar and refined carbs etc., and this has kept me out of my normal cycle of craving and bingeing. However, yesterday evening and tonight, I'm really craving sugar and stodge, can't think about anything else. I haven't changed anything about how I'm eating, exercising or anything else.

I haven't succumbed to the cravings yet, but I can feel my willpower faltering.I really thought I'd broken out of that old cycle. :( Why am I feeling like this now? And what can I do to make the cravings go away? Please help!

Hi Jinsei, I had similar to you experience and I think it is happening to many people. When we have to try hard to loose weight and we succeed suddenly we feel like going back to the things we tried to avoid. I think it's work for the whole life and from time to time we have to fight our wishes to eat sugary foods. For me it's easier not to eat any then to eat some, for some people it's easier to have little to feel they don't deny themselves and go back to diet they have. Everyone responds differently. I have fruit and veg which is naturally sweet and I have honey instead of sugar. When none of it is available I add more milk to coffee to make it naturally sweeter. I still have things like baked beans and some other things which have sugar in but I don't add sugar myself. I wish you success and happiness. Please let us know how you are getting on :)

friendly, thanks for your support, it really helps. I have managed to resist the cravings so far this evening, and the urge has started to wear off a bit now. I'm a bit like you, I think, in that if I start eating just a bit of sugar, I can't easily stop, so it's better to avoid it altogether. But it's hard...!

Jinsei, you are very welcome. I have to say I can easily have 3 Magnums or 6 biscuits!!! I can't have 1 ice-cream and feel happy or 2 biscuits and feel I had enough! So I know I have to say no before I try one. Hopefully you'll overcome your cravings. I just had a large piece of a watermelon and a peach. Both very sugary but these are natural sugars and I believe they are better. Good luck, please keep posting :)
