What's a sensible amount of weight to lose and how can I get rid while bfing?

DD is nearly 8wo and I have one of them there post natal bodies (you know, tummy shelf, back boobs, thighs like whales mating) that I swear contains a thinner woman.

I am 5'4" and 73 ish kilos (11 st 7?).

How much should I lose and what's a good way to do it while bfing so I don't starve?

Crikey: that'd take me to below my pre-pregnancy weight! Well done!

DH, bless him, reasoned that losing weight fast is silly because I won't get my money's worth from my post-natal fat arse jeans (true Yorkshireman). Apparently I should aim to lose weight slowly and sustainably, until the jeans have gone at the knees...

Okay, I have had a salad for lunch. Grin

I sort of naturally lost all my baby weight and a little bit more in the year after I had my dd, and I was a breastfeeder. Was drinking less alcohol and am not a fan of cakes and biscuits so wasn't eating any too many of those, although I understand that it can be easy to overeat because bfeeding makes you hungry. I was out walking with the pram for hours every day, too.

It took me down to about a stone less than when I got pregnant :)

1-2 pounds a week is healthy.

I really struggled to lose weight while DS was EBF when we started weaning it's seamed to help with weight loss. We are still feeding and I'm still losing weight but have started doing couch to 5kn with a running pram (DS is 16 months)

this will sound odd but check with your HV/children's centre/GP as my local surestart ran a course called Lite 4 Life mums. it was free helped with healthy eating but bonus was DS and other kids were in a creche (for free) while we had and hour long exersize class.

I know the adage is 9 months on 9months off but will take me more like 18 months to get to where I want to be ( slightly below pre pregnancy) however I ate as if i might be having triplets and stopped all exersize when pregnant as I was a lazy piggy. I will not be doing this next pregnancy.

Congratulations!

Also remember that while it might not always feel like it your body has just done something amazing and it is continuing to do that while breastfeeding so try not to be too hard on yourself.
