there is nothing more complicated to it than that.

Up to the age of 22 there are differences in growth rates
but after the age of22, if you can pinch an inch on your side ribs, you are eating or drinking to much.
Simple as.
Nowt to do with the different diets.
Just say no to at least half of what is on offer. For ever.

Generally speaking this is true but there are quite a lot of exceptions to that sweeping statement of yours Talkin. There are some thin people who eat TONS. I know one or two people with a bmi of probably 10 points lower than me who eat a hell of a lot more than I do. I am seeing one of them tomorrow. I will note what she eats and what I eat and report back to you.

OP did you really think your opening post was wise or profound?

I think even if you spent half an hour reading on the complexities of weight gain/insulin/obesity you would realise that making such grand sweeping statements in manner of Charlton Heston makes you seem rather dim.

MrsMcEnroe · 21/07/2012 15:20

Bloody hell OP. I am a size 6 and have never struggled with my weight but even I know that you are talking utter BOLLOCKS.

Sheesh.

reliablemillipede · 21/07/2012 16:12

Sorry, but I agree with OP - for the vast majority of people this is a true statement, the more you eat the bigger you are/get! simple! - the less you eat the smaller you are/get.

It's not rocket science and I don't think the OP was trying to upset anyone ?

Has anyone ever watched the programme with the skinny and the fattie ??? the fatties eat more than the skinnies !!

GetOrfMoiiLand · 21/07/2012 16:18

No it is not rocket science, but there are scientific reasons for weight gain etc, if you care to look them up.

GetOrfMoiiLand · 21/07/2012 16:19

And I have got no axe to grind - personally I am slim and always have been (except when on strong steroids)

RabbitsMakeBrownEggs · 21/07/2012 16:20

I'm personally blaming steroids and lack of mobility, versus love of good food.
