Weight loss chat

A space to talk openly about weight loss journeys and challenges. Mumsnet hasn't checked the qualifications of anyone posting here. You may wish to speak to a medical professional before starting any diet.

Be honest - am I a deluded fool?

I have been steadily losing weight and have lost 6kg (1 stone) taking me from a solid 14 to a loose 14. I fully intend to keep up the good work and my aim is to lose another 6kg plus.
I couldn't resist a gorgeous pair of trousers in the sales today which were hugely reduced and perfect in every way - except the size. They only had them in a 12. I could do them up (camel toe on show) but have I committed a major weight loss/ fashion faux pas? I read somewhere that we should only buy clothes in the size we are, never the size we want to be.

You're doing really well so they should be fine, just don't get too hung up on them or try them every 5 minutes.
That said, don' forget about them else you might find them too big!

Look on them as your incentive to continue losing weight - keep trying them on as you lose weight and you'll find they one day fit you perfectly. Dont let it put you off/discourage you on your weight loss journey though

That is exactly the kind of thing I do.

But you will have to be more committed than me.

I bought the smaller size of a Boden dress that I have in their sale - I can zip it up but it looks awful, but it is my current incentive to shift a bit. Whenever I want a bit of chocolate, I picture that dress and it's helping me stop nibbling!

I think its fine. I made opposite mistake of buying stuff in size 10 when I got there, but ended up as size 8.... It will be good motivation to continue...

I think its ok if it's the odd item especially if you can actually do them up.

I also get rid of my loose clothes (especially trousers) otherwise if I'm wearing clothes that are a bit baggy I seem to think that I am 'there' already and I lose focus.

Top tip Camel - going home now to do just that!
