Moment of Decision

Hi all! Just pondering, as you do on a Sunday afternoon if you are not keen on tennis.....

Some of you are probably like me, have made half hearted attempts at dieting before, but not really been into it. However, my latest attempt is really focused, and I am not finding it difficult as I am constantly thinking that "this is a lifestyle, not a diet".

I think everyone has a trigger which makes them focussed to finally make a serious attempt to lose weight.

Personally, mine was when I stepped on the scales, and saw that I was over 17 stone Shock. I am now in the 15's finally, and aim to get down to 13 stone. I am doing this with a combination of calorie counting (1200 a day) on MFP and exercise, mostly walking. Walking seems to be good when you are overweight, as you use up so many calories heaving all your extra weight around - yay finally, a benefit to being overweight!

I would be really interested in hearing what has triggered others off into making the big decision that this time they are really going to seriously lose weight?

I had spent so much time thinking 'I'll buy that jacket/skirt/dress/whatever when I'm a bit slimmer' and realised that after 2 kids I wasn't ever going to look magically good in the clothes I wanted unless I actually did something. So I watched what I ate and got fit, and now I indulge in good clothes as a reward/motivation not to get big again (heck, I can't afford to replace this lot!)
