Welcome to thread 10 of the Paul McKenna's I Can Make You Thin weight loss system.

The Golden Rules that will aid you on your journey with our like minded support system are:

  1. Eat what you WANT
  2. Eat when you are HUNGRY
  3. Eat CONSCIOUSLY
  4. STOP eating when you are satisfied and full

This weight loss system is about re-educating your body; learning to listen to it and in doing so losing weight and inches. So forget diets; they may work for a while, but they aren't permanent solutions. This is a new way of living for your brand new life!!

The Paul McKenna system really works and is easy to maintain.

I've C&P'd our previous threads links as they are helpful.

Here are the book choices on AMAZON which is all you need to get started! they aren't compulsory, but they do help! it's something to refer to and listening to the cd's can really focus you.

This is the tapping technique EXPLAINED - this can be useful to combat cravings.

You don't have to buy the book and CD, but we have found that they do help and somehow they keep you on track, so it would probably be a good investment and will cost you far less than a couple of trips to WW or SW meetings, so do consider having them in your life.

Please feel free to join us, whether it's 10lbs or 10 stones you want to lose.
We are friendly, supportive and successful, but we're not hungry OH NO we're not!!! so come on in and start living your new life today!

Oh bless you! Things are gradually improving. Being pregnant has helped a lot actually. We are both cautiously excited. I have had to ask him to help round the house cos I can't do it all and he has graciously started helping. We're having counselling which isn't easy but I think will help in the long run. I am convinced we'll get there in the long run :)

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 22/09/2012 09:36

Welcome and welcome back Jes and Shy :) I always buy full fat, except for Lurpak where I get the lighter version.

Faith I think you will come out of it stronger. DH and I wafted along on a cloud of happiness for several years and I think it almost made it harder when things got tougher, because we had no mechanisms for resolving conflict. We are still dreadful at arguing, things get out of hand pretty quickly, but we are working on it Grin

Solo I am in the same place as you, really struggling to get my head on it at the moment. I must check into this thread daily, as it really does help me.

Where are BBB and ppeat??

My next little goal is that we're going away for a long weekend for our anniversary (5th) at the end of October. We had planned just a night, but DH had a tax rebate so we've decided to splash out a little. I have several things I would like to wear that are just a wee bit tight, so half a stone in the 5 intervening weeks is my aim.

We're off to my parents for the weekend, it was Dad's 65th birthday last week so we are having a get together. Eldest DB has separated from his bitch of a wife, so there is a good chance of having a nice time! That sounds very flippant, but she has been a blight on him and our family, and although he is very upset (they have only been married 2.5 years) it is good to see the old him emerging from under her cloud.
I am going to try and Paul, but my Mum's cooking is fabulous and the wine will be flowing freely which always means good intentions go out of the window!

Shybairns · 22/09/2012 09:58

Went out for dinner with my parents last night. They are committed members of the clean plate club, although they are not particularly fat.
I had a burger and frys. I found the salt blew me up like a baloon and I was soon uncomfortable in my jeans. I left 80% of the bun, nearly half the chips and a quarter of the burger. Not easy when my parents were encouraging me to eat more.

Salt is a killer!! Went to the cinema after eating and had to sit with my jeans undone for the whole film. Of course the extra 2 stone I'm carrying didn't help either!

Solo · 22/09/2012 14:22

Well, that's good HALF :) keep at it; it can help enormously.

Ali I am just so low right now and am eating without any control at all :( I've now gained 13lbs and I am just going around in circkles...hate the weight gain, comfort eat, hate what I see, comfort eat...argue with Ds, eat, have to contact work, eat some more...and on it goes. I feel utterly out of control right now. Tried to listen to the disc this morning, but my discman is no longer working...none of my cd players work except the lounge one and I don't spend any time in there and Dd always has the tv on anyway.
So...now I need to lose a minimum of 2st.

Enjoy your Dad's birthday weekend Ali :)

Why is it that mean and nasty women get a half decent man and ruin his life and then there's me that is actually not a bad person and I find the crap men that ruin mine?!!!

I must sit down and moan on the moany thread, but I'm aware that it'll disappear soon, so I may just wait til I start a new thread and then let it all out.

Shy you sound like you would've had a good night if it wasn't for the salt. Good for you not over eating though, so well done! great restart!
I never add salt to anything at all these days; haven't for probably about 9/10 years.

ppeatfruit · 23/09/2012 17:20

HELLO EVERYONE!!! welcome newbies and returners Smile Grinjust popping in to say i'm back You knew i was going for a long time Solo.

BigBoobiedBertha · 24/09/2012 12:24

Hello. Hope you are all OK and haven't been blown and/or washed away in this weather. I am trying to track down the fool who said to me last week that it hadn't rained for ages. I hold them entirely accountable for bringing a curse and with it, the rain, down on our heads.Smile

Thanks for the PM Solo. I haven't been gone that long - it didn't feel like it anyway, only a week. Most of that week nobody else posted too but we have a busy timein September - 2 birthdays and the start of term plus I am proper working for DH now. Routine was all up in the air but should finally settle down now.

Anyway, reading the thread, do we all need a gigantic kick up the derriere? I think I do!

ppeatfruit · 24/09/2012 15:38

You asked upthread for the belly buster and neck exes. solo I may as well share them for the newbies too, BTW DEAFWORM it's Fab to hear from you!!!!! O.K. P.P's brilliant belly buster ex,-:

  1. Lie flat (on a firm mattress or floor if you're feeling virtuous Grin
2, raise yr head and shoulders slowly to 5cms (and count 5) then hold for 5 then slowly lower; IMPORTANT; KEEP YR HEAD IN LINE WITH YR SPINE DO NOT POKE FORWARD OR LET DROP.
  1. Do this 3 or 4 times night and morning; bring your arms above yr head if you want to increase the difficulty.

BTW this really works 'cos it activates the muscles and they continue to work you can also help them by pulling them in to the count of 20 while on here or washing up etc.

The double chin ex. is acupressure;

  1. you press gently under yr chin either side of yr adam's apple to the count of 10 and massage gently for 3 or 4.
2, Repeat on the centre and base of yr neck. Do this when ever (its also good for coughing fits and colds.)

It's in the Chang book Sols BBB hello! I wanted to say what extreme good sense you talk ref. diets failing. My very long exp, has shown me that healthy diet, exercise and P.M. really are the answer to maintaining. Smile

Shybairns · 24/09/2012 20:04

I could do with some hard stats ladies. How long have you been Pauling and how much have you lost?

I have 2 stone to loose and I'd like to have it gone by next summer.
Thanks

HaveALittleFaith · 24/09/2012 20:17

9 months and about 10lb but I fell off the wagon when ill and couldn't exercise. I gained back what I'd lost but had lost the 10lb in about 3 weeks by Pauling and walking 3-5k in the evenings.

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 24/09/2012 20:29

Shy I have been Pauling for a year and a few months, and I've lost roughly 1.5 stone in that time.
BUT - I started when DS2 was only a couple of months old and I've been BFing which has made me starving, tired, hungry etc etc. I've had a blip since my periods eventually came back and a couple of pounds have gone back on, but I have been exercising so am actually slimmer. So in dress sizes, about two and a half.

This is without doubt the longest I have persevered with any kind of 'diet' or way of eating, and it has sorted various of my food-related demons.

Shybairns · 24/09/2012 20:32

Thanks Faith. I don't actually eat past the point of being overly full anyway. My main issue could be that I sometimes eat to the clock rather than when I'm properly hungry.

And of course choosing chocolate instead of a drink of tea or water or eating something with some nutritional value.

I'm trying to exercise at least 3 times a week but so far I've only managed twice. Not easy being a single parent.

Solo · 24/09/2012 23:07

Shy I lost 2st in all, but have gained quite a bit back recently. I think in all, it took me about 8 months to lose the 2st. I now need to lose at least 2stones from now and I don't have very long to do it either!!

I have ME and I'm a single parent too, so exercise is difficult all round. I really need to be able to walk the school run, but it's hard to do nearly 6 miles a day when you can hardly get out of bed.

OP posts:
ppeatfruit · 25/09/2012 10:09

Morning all Smile Shy you don't have to do 'gym' exercise or go out at all; 2 or 3 times a week (depending on my mood)Blush I dance for 20 mins to the radio or C.D.s before breakfast or go out for a power walk, I do the above stretches and other acupressure exes. every morning, i stand on my toes and pull in my belly to 20 while washing up etc.

With P.M. I lost just under 3 stone in a year but it really fell off when I started the exes.

Solo why don't you try giving up wheat for a week or 2 (you can have rye or kamut or spelt bread from waitrose or Sainsbos so you don't have to give up bread) I make my own bread with those flours 'cos wheat stops my digestion dead and I can't loose weight when I'm on it. My new DIL has ME and she totally has it under control with taking ginseng and giving up wheat!!

Solo · 25/09/2012 10:30

Pp I tried doing that before, some years ago whilst I was on a detox diet. I cut out all wheat, rice, oats, dairy etc, certain types of vegetables and gave up salt and caffeine too. I was thinking about trying it again whilst following the PMK way of eating, but it does then turn into what you can and can't eat... I do know that cutting out all the food stuffs that basically ferment in your gut mean that you lose weight and your tummy, but it can be quite hard when you enjoy certain food stuffs. May try the ginseng though.

IME ~ which is long (13years), you cannot control ME, only manage it, but mostly it controls you because it dictates what you can do, how much you can give your family or society. It can feel like a punishment tbh. It is still little understood and often ridiculed; even one of the GP's at my surgery told me 'I don't hold with that' meaning she didn't believe in it.
I'm dreading my return to work because it is very stressful, which brings on an attack in itself without all the added physical stuff. Ho hum.

OP posts:
ppeatfruit · 25/09/2012 10:50

I'm not saying it's easy but for your health both mental and physical it 'd be worth it. The blood type would probably be best 'cos then you're removing what you actually shouldn't eat and it leaves more than what you cut out before; whole rice is good for everyone. I spose I'm used to it now and apart from going out (when i try to be organised enough to take my own food Grin).

Solo · 25/09/2012 11:37

I did cut out pork for two weeks Grin

OP posts:
ppeatfruit · 25/09/2012 12:58

Morning all Smile I must tell you lot this; I'm very proud 'cos I've finally taken all my size 14\16s to a chasser to be sold or recycled so now I CAN'T go back can I?

HaveALittleFaith · 28/09/2012 11:12

No you can't PP! What a nice feeling that must be! I on the other hand put all my were already on the snug side clothes under the bed because I doubt I'll be in them for a while! Weight this morning still under 13stone Shock but I guess I'm eating a fairly balanced diet...really enjoying fruit! However my belly is growing and my jeans are tight. At least I know that must be baby and not fat though?!

How was the spag Bol solo? We had chilli and tacos last night, it was ruddy gorgeous! :)
