Welcome to thread 10 of the Paul McKenna's I Can Make You Thin weight loss system.

The Golden Rules that will aid you on your journey with our like minded support system are:

  1. Eat what you WANT
  2. Eat when you are HUNGRY
  3. Eat CONSCIOUSLY
  4. STOP eating when you are satisfied and full

This weight loss system is about re-educating your body; learning to listen to it and in doing so losing weight and inches. So forget diets; they may work for a while, but they aren't permanent solutions. This is a new way of living for your brand new life!!

The Paul McKenna system really works and is easy to maintain.

I've C&P'd our previous threads links as they are helpful.

Here are the book choices on AMAZON which is all you need to get started! they aren't compulsory, but they do help! it's something to refer to and listening to the cd's can really focus you.

This is the tapping technique EXPLAINED - this can be useful to combat cravings.

You don't have to buy the book and CD, but we have found that they do help and somehow they keep you on track, so it would probably be a good investment and will cost you far less than a couple of trips to WW or SW meetings, so do consider having them in your life.

Please feel free to join us, whether it's 10lbs or 10 stones you want to lose.
We are friendly, supportive and successful, but we're not hungry OH NO we're not!!! so come on in and start living your new life today!

Itfinally that is fantastic, really well done. I am in size 16 clothes and it is just so nice being able to wear normal things from normal shops and feel normal! Lots of normal there, but I am sure you get it!

DH has just been verbally offered the most fabulous contract. Please please let the paperwork etc get sorted

Solo · 13/09/2012 14:49

Ali, HALF and BBB I am rolling up with laughter here! Grin BBB I keep my clothes horse, hanging rack, ornament exercise bike Blush in the hall currently. I do aim to put it upstairs in my new bedroom when I can actually sort the arrangement out but I am worried that it'll become an even more used storage area! I'm dreadfully disorganised!

IFH that was great weight loss! well done you! you'll do it again, I'm sure of it because you know PMK works. I also know it works, but need to focus and zone in...yes, may do the day to start. I'm also going to stop buying myself the Dc's treats, because I end up eating them too and when I'm really not hungry.

I didn't ever look at Kinky's blog. If anyone does, please update us. Really hope all is Ok with them.

Ali fingers all crossed here for you and your Dh (or...your Dh and you!).

Going to try the multi tasking! will report back...assuming I'm not in hospital with concussion!
Spider bite still ugh! toying with taking the oral ab's...hate hate hate taking pills! and bound to get thrush with those...

Checking in to say I hope that everyone is well. Obviously, I haven't been PMKing for some time, but I still believe it is the best system for sorting your weight for life.

I went back to SW as I needed a diet to follow. Luckily, I have found a really wonderful group and that has spurred me on to follow it and not give up after a couple of weeks. I've also made some friends, which has helped my mood a lot.

DD is ticking over nicely at the moment. Her counts held over summer and she's having another attempt at school. Just over 7 months of chemotherapy to go!! Can't wait til we finish. I've actually done a full two weeks without needing to stay home with her. I just hope things continue in this fashion.

Sending love and will have a proper read through and see how everyone is doing. Smile

BigBoobiedBertha · 15/09/2012 17:43

Hi Kinky, Glad to here things are OK with you. I can't believe your DD has another 7 mths to go though - she seems to have been having chemo forever. I can't imagine how you all must be feeling but it is great that the path is a little smoother at the moment. Long may it last.

I won't criticise you for doing SW - sometimes we need a kick start on these things. I consider it myself from time to time but I am too lazy to actually go! Blush I reckon Pauling would be ideal for maintaining and when you no longer feel like a real diet is appropriate. We've said before that the reason diets fail is because they stop - they have to come to an end because you can't spend your life counting calories or points or whatever. If you have something to take the place of a diet which stops you going back to your old ways then your chances of success have got to be a lot higher. I hope it really works for you but don't be a stranger. I would love to hear how you are getting on, I am sure we all would.Smile

HaveALittleFaith · 15/09/2012 17:49

Oh kinky that's about as good as news can be :) I'm glad DD is ok at school and you've not had to have time off with her. I won't knock SW, my Dad has lost 1 1/2 stone with them! I think it really just taught him menu ideas and how/what to cook. I'm glad it's so supportive for you. You can still apply the Pauling principles like chewing your food etc, it's just food ideas isn't it?

Well I was a bit Shock this morning, I climbed on the scales - been keeping an eye on my weight since getting pregnant but trying not to obsess - I'm under 13 stone!! 12st 12.5 to be exact! I guess that's the balance of feeling sick and not eating much at times then scoffing loads at others? Wearing my skinny jeans while I still can. DSis had asked to borrow all the clothes I won't fit in for a while Wink cheeky!

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 15/09/2012 20:15

Kinky that is great news Smile

Solo · 16/09/2012 01:14

Hi Kinky :) how lovely to hear from you and sounding so much better ~ positive too :) I'm glad Dd is steady; I hope things continue to be that way or better!! Dooooo come and 'see' us on here; I think we all think of our little group as a group of friends and I also think that we all care for and about one another; I think that's a good thing and nice :) so, come back regularly.x

Hi everyone else!

I have decided to get a proper start on everything from Monday. It's going to be my first day back on PMK, sorting my home out etc. Hopefully, I'll be distracted by the work and wont think about the food!

Thanks all for your kind words, I am getting myself in gear today! I've just done day 1 of the shred and left half my omelette. Going to listen to the cd tonight.

Wishing all you ladies a great week I will report back in a few days after hopefully getting back in the 'zone'.

P.S- I only have the one cd that came with the book- has anyone got the 5 cd set? Do you find it helps more than just having the one cd? Thanks Smile

Solo · 18/09/2012 10:57

Yes, all of us that went to the seminar have the 5 disc set. I do like all of them I have to say, but I like certain cd's over others.

I have come down 3 3/4lbs. Right direction.

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 19/09/2012 10:50

rustle rustle

That is the sound of me turning over a new leaf. Grin

Listened to the CD last night, and this morning I've been for my induction at the gym.

Solo well done that is brilliant!

Egg - I have them all but only listen to the main one.

HaveALittleFaith · 19/09/2012 10:54

Good work solo!

Great start Ali! What kind of gym?

I'm off work - uti affecting my kidney (ouch!). The doc I saw said its quite typical at this point in pregnancy and called it the joys of motherhood!. I am chilling on the sofa. Wait continues to fluctuate around the 13 stone mark which I'm happy with. Tried to listen to the CD last night but couldn't hear it over DH's snoring!

Solo · 21/09/2012 09:50

Come on girls! gee up!!!! we are stuck aren't we? we aren't posting and I think we need to post.

I'm not in a great frame of mind today. Will pop over to moan later I think. Yes, later.

I'm back to Pauling. Posted on here a couple of times back in July. My main struggle is emotional eating/drinking due to getting divorced.

But as far as diets/healthy eating plans go I think doing this is the least stressfull as it requires the least planning.

Do you shop with low calorie foods in mind or have you just stuck to the meals you've always made? I can cut out take aways. And I've managed to stop drinking through the week. Only having alcohol on a friday and saturday night.

Anyone doing the finger pressure thing?

HaveALittleFaith · 21/09/2012 16:57

Hello one and all. Well I'm still up the duff and still around the same weight. (Yay!) 9 weeks today, got my scan 17th October.

Howdy to shybairns I think fresh meat will help us all to post more! I actually don't buy 'low fat' anything these days actually I just ate McDonalds but I didn't get lunch and was stoopidly hungry! I buy what I really fancy, stuff that tastes really yummy. That's what I noticed since I started Pauling - how good food tastes! Better to eat a small portion of what tastes good and chew it well than eat lots of low fat crap and not really notice it. That definitely one of Paul's rules. Initially I went a bit mad about eating all kinds of processed food but gradually adjusted to a more balanced diet but with yummy treats.

Jesayan · 21/09/2012 17:21

Hi, i know this thread(s) has been going a while, would you mind if i joined? Have just started pauling. I like the fact that you don't count cals or record every morsel of food, all of which i find soul destroying. I have a ridiculous sweet tooth and an addiction to chocolate. Would you go cold turkey on chocolate? If i give myself permission to eat it, i will never stop! Need to lose three stone by june next year :)

HaveALittleFaith · 21/09/2012 17:33

Hello jesayn! Ooh more newbies. Welcome welcome! We have become a bit static so the more the merrier!

Re the chocolate - do you want to be able to have it occasionally, or vit it out totally? If its the former, I'd reccomend the tapping technique. If its the latter, I'd try the technique where you imagine it's combined with something really disgusting! Do you have the book and CD?

Jesayan · 21/09/2012 18:00

Thank you for the welcome havealittlefaith. Yes i have the book, the cd and the app! Oh and an additional journal, do you all use the journal ? I have read yhe book a few times and am reading again as a refresher. It makes so much sense. Yes i would like to Never eat or want chocolate again, it pisses me off. I will try the relating it to something disgusting, but can't thonk of anything disgusting enough to put me off. Tried visualising raw fish with it before, but didn't put me off. Maybe doing it wrong! How have you been doing on the pauling front?

HaveALittleFaith · 21/09/2012 18:13

It's got to be really disgusting! I imagine smearing the food with marmite! Envy

I've been Pauling since New Year. Did really well the first two months, got quite ill (9 days in hospital) and fell off the waggon a bit. I was back on it from June time and got to about 9lb lighter than when I started and fell pregnant :) Currently trying to eat as well as possible around cravings and morning sickness. Balance appears to be maintained to the point that I'm fluctuating around the same weight I was when I got pregnant which I'd be quite happy with for my first trimester!

Jesayan · 21/09/2012 18:18

Congratulations on your Pregnancy !! Reviews in general are very encouraging. Am cooking oven chips at the moment, lets see if i can stop when i'm full :s

HaveALittleFaith · 21/09/2012 18:54

Thank you:) it took 2 1/2 years so we're delighted! We had to have some treatment for underlying health problems but it was just after I lost that weight that I fell pregnant when I went 'obese' to 'overweight'. My GP and I agreed that while the treatment had helped with the fertility problems, that it was probably no coincidence that I got pregnant after I lost weight too.

Make sure you concentrate on the food and chew, chew, chew! We don't have a dining table at the moment (long story - suffice to say we had a house fire, the tabs is the last part of the insurance claim we're getting). I hate eating off my lap! Eating at the table without the tv on is so much better.

Jesayan · 21/09/2012 19:13

Wow, i put all my weight on during and after my pregnacies so good for you for looking after yourself/ weight during pregnancy. I weight the same now as i did at 9 mths pregnant! I found myself craving all the crap i would never have allowed myself before. I was always quite strict with myself in terms of diet and exercise. But having slackened i never got my willpower back and my weight went from bad to worse. Chewing is an issue for me tend to wolf my food down.

HaveALittleFaith · 21/09/2012 19:32

Well I'm only 9 weeks so plenty of time for it to go wrong! But the puking certainly doesn't aide weight gain! I guess I'm quite careful about what I eat and when. I've found if I have two slices of tast for breakfast, I'm usually sick, whereas if I have one I'm not. Mostly I'm craving milk, mmm milk but I've always had skimmed so that's not really a problem. I am having lots of cheese too. Grapes are satisfying my sweet tooth. I aim to Paul my way as much as I can through the pregnancy. Sometimes it's too much to listen to the CD but I do it say 3 times a week and I notice I eat less crap opfor a couple of days after I've listened to it the night before.

Now remember this is a new start and Pauling is not about will power. It's about routine - reading the book and listening to the CD and making the habits became ingrained.

Jesayan · 21/09/2012 19:40

I can do routine!! Nothing will go wrong!! Sickness is normally a good sign that pregnancy is well established and healthy :) good luck. Will give this a good go and check in regulary ...thanks :)

HaveALittleFaith · 21/09/2012 19:45

After such a long time TTC, that's what I keep telling myself! Only 26 days til the scan :)

Go for it! I've never stayed motivated with any 'weight loss/management/diet' as long as I have with Pauling because I know it really works. Keep checking in!

Anyone heard from RunningUpThatHill lately? Are you lurking?

Solo · 22/09/2012 01:35

Oooh! welcome Jes and welcome back Shy :) I can't add much to what HALF says, but it is easy to do, but the disc is an absolute must :)
I always buy full fat stuff.

I have had a really bad day today (yesterday), but I think I must listen to the discs and read the book which I still haven't actually done! I don't have too long left now and I'm dreading my return to work, but I really don't want to go back either fat or in a bigger uniform! so I have to get my head round this! I also need to sleep more and properly and get on the exercise bike for a longer time every day.

HALF it took me 12 years to conceive my first baby (which I lost); 14 to get my Ds. Miracles do happen :) and I then had two more pregnancies before I conceived and went on to have Dd...and they said I'd never conceive naturally!! You'll be a great Mummy! how are things with Dh?
