I have been trying different diets and I did lost weight every time I tried. Later I gained all the lost weight. I know why this happened - I just couldn't stick to it and gradually gained even more than what I've started with.
My plan is to go for healthy diet and regular dance to music for say 15 minutes or more a day. This I know I can do as it is not as hard.
So, no missing meals. Breakfast-vegies/fruit/berries
Snack - veg
Lunch - soup/big bowl of a salad with a little olive oil and lemon
Snack veg/fruit/nuts
Dinner - what we have as a family with salad
max 2 cups of coffee a day with honey instead of sugar
1 to 2 cups of tea with little honey and lemon
Water during the day.
Occasionally porridge with milk, honey and berries.
Sometimes a slice of garlic bread, 3-4 plain biscuits.
For pudding - low fat/plain yogurt with berries/fruit/fruit salad

Would you like to join me? Would be nice to do it together :)
Any suggestions/exchange of ideas/plans are very welcome :)

Honey in coffee and veg for breakfast!!! Grin

I'm using my fitness pal and doing shred. This is with a view to taking up running again.

friendly7 · 29/06/2012 22:48

Hi AnyoneForTennis, well, I read that honey is better than sugar and I can't drink coffee without sugar or something sweet in it so I think honey would be better for me. I also reduced the amount of coffee, I used to have 5 or more cups a day, now 1 or 2. As for veg, I have veg or fruit or berries for breakfast. Not doing shred as I know I wouldn't be able to stick to it. Just trying to find something I can have on a permanent basis although I know I'll have some days when I'm not able to stick to it.

Hi friendly, I think the first step you should take is to drop the sweet drinks, honey or otherwise. Experiment with herbal teas, you can get a cinnamon spicy one that has a surprisingly sweet taste.

I'm building up to a lifestyle change myself but I have to get rid of a long-lingering virus first.

Good Luck! Smile

Hey friendly, I totally need to join you! Been down the same road as you - after putting on weight with 2 fairly closely-spaced pregnancies, successful diet (lost 4 stone!! Grin) but then put most of that back on again. Am feeling crap about my significant pudge round the belly now - doesn't help when DS plays trampoline with his lego man on my spare tyre as I sit on the couch! Blush Got to do something, but need motivation - so let's do it together!

friendly7 · 30/06/2012 09:38

Hi grimblesmother, thank you for your kind advice. Hope you feel better soon.
You see, I'm not enjoying herbal teas, I've tried many of them and occasionally I make myself drink them treating them as medicine rather than as a pleasant drink. I like coffee but can't stand it being not sweet. So I thought I'd have a teaspoon of honey in a cup of coffee and have no more than 2 cups a day. Well, I'll try to have one cup a day whenever possible, sometimes no coffee at all. Thank you again for your help. Good luck with your weight loss. Please let me know how it's progressing.

Hi rufus5, yes please, let's do it together. We can support each other, I know it's much more fun when we can exchange ideas and motivate each other.
Let's start today and have fun with healthy eating, dancing to music and walking. I find music I like - disco, zumba on youtube, etc.

Ok friendly, I'm putting this in writing like you did, because otherwise there's absolutely no way I'll stick to it. Like you I'm going to just eat more healthily and exercise more. Cutting out the treats (although I did finish my B+J's choc fudge brownie ice cream last night, just to remove temptation of course!) and cutting down portion sizes.

How much are you hoping to lose? My target is at least 1 1/2 stones. I know I can do it because I've done it before. Just need to be motivated and disciplined. Here goes!! Good luck!

friendly7 · 30/06/2012 11:35

So sorry rufus5, I only understand kg. I'm hoping to loose 8 kg. My goal is to fit into dress size 10. At the moment I've managed to get to size 14, was already wearing size 16. I weigh 68,6 and my height is 1.63. I'd be pleased if I weigh 60.
Enjoy a nice and healthy weekend :)

That's about 1 1/4 stone, so we're pretty similar in our targets. However that is probably where similarity ends - your current weight would be my 'dream' target weight!! Anyhow, lets give it a go!

friendly7 · 01/07/2012 08:26

I think it's fantastic we are similar in our targets. Let's try our best. Wishing your dreams come true and even better than you are hoping for :)

Hi rufus5, how are you doing? I'm having fruit, veg, salads, water, herbal and fruit teas. Family dinner later, not sure what we'll have.

Hey friendly, that's great so far, well done you! I have been good so far today, cereal for breakfast, soup for lunch. Did have steak and chips for dinner this eve, but was my brother's birthday and that's what he asked for, so had to do it for his celebration meal! What about the exercise, you managed any today?

friendly7 · 02/07/2012 22:51

Hi rufus5, I had good meals today apart from the whole can of baked beans for dinner. Well, we were having ready made chicken kiev with baked beans, bread and butter and chips so I thought my best bet would be having baked beans. Later I had my home made salad. I also had coffee with one spoon of honey in it instead of sugar. Still need to do some exercise. Will try in few mins.
You are doing fantastically well!

Running in to shake pom poms and yell go you. (Then slopes off embarrassed as I had takeaway tonight!)

friendly7 · 03/07/2012 08:08

Hi Wolfiefan, I'm sure we all have take aways from time to time :)
Just start today and carry on, forget about take away. Running is excellent but it's not for me, I prefer walking as it's easier...

Wolfiefan · 03/07/2012 09:04

What a lovely reply! Well I have lost nearly 3 1/2 stone this year so a takeaway won't kill me! I have a bad back so running isn't for me either but I can interval train. I do yoga and just started Pilates too. Just need to sort my back so I can Zumba again!

friendly7 · 03/07/2012 12:08

Thank you Wolfiefan :)
Hope your back is better soon. Your weight loss is fantastic!!!

Oooh, please can I join in? I'm 10st 7, I think that's about 67kg. I need to get down to max 9st 7, preferably 9stone. I've already lost a lot, but it's very slow progress and I seem to have really lost my motivation now that I've not got much more to lose!

I'm trying to have:
Coffee first thing
Brunch (don't like breakfast) toast or sandwich
Afternoon treat eg low fat crisps
Evening meal to be homemade and 1/3 of my plate to be veg.

My hardest time of day is after tea, so I am going to try and eat tea as late as possible so that I'm still fairly full and won't snack before bed.

Oh, and only treats to be home made, if I actually have to bake it myself it takes away the instant gratification of just getting chocolate out of the fridge and I'm lazy so less likely to bother!

friendly7 · 03/07/2012 18:07

Hi Rockchick1984, of course, we are delighted you are happy to join us :)
