CAMBRIDGE DIET - Surely someone will want to join me?

I am seeing a CD Counsellor in an hour and hopefully will start tomorrow. I'd love a support thread to share tip etc and keep each other going.

I'm 5 ft 4, around 11 stone 13lbs < although will know for sure in a short while! > and a size 14. My goal would be 10 stone I think and a size 10/12 - so around 2 stone to lose.

Anyone want to join me?

I saw my counsellor today although started last Saturday by buying my neighbours products off her. I'd done it before so it wasn't a problem and I couldn't get of my counsellor.

I originally lost 3.5 stone 18 months ago and did a good job of keeping it off but following a family bereavement I gained a lot of weight back due to comfort eating and now have 2.5 stone that I want to lose.

Assuming you've not done it before the most important thing is you have to drink the required amount of water otherwise it'll slow your weigh loss.

Other than that - good luck!

AliceInPoundland · 23/06/2012 08:49

Hi fedupandtired.... well done on your results and sorry to hear you put some back on. I will certainly take your advice and drink my 2 litres!

This could end up being a thread just for me at this rate so we shall see!

I have not eaten/drunk a thing yet so going to treat myself to a yummy Hmm choc mint sachet in about an hour and half a litre of water.

My cup runneth over

OP posts:
fedupandtired · 23/06/2012 12:55

Not just you - you and me!

AliceInPoundland · 23/06/2012 17:26

Oh good! Company. I've name changed as I am not sure I want all my MN buddies to know about this Hmm

So- today!

I had a chocolate mint shake and liked that. < Although 'like' may be a little strong > and am now eating some maple porridge which is quite unlike any other porridge I have eaten.

And I have drunk 1.5 litrs of water so far

Plus I'm bored

OP posts:
fedupandtired · 23/06/2012 21:05

I quite like the choc mint but my favourite is Toffee and Walnut. Seriously yummy. I tried the porridge for the first time last week and thought it was disgusting although it would definitely been more palatable if I'd used the blender before heating it which I shall try 'cause I've got a pack left.

Also tried Mango for the first time (new, limited edition apparently) which was okay. I'm not on the bars yet but they're really nice too.

AliceInPoundland · 24/06/2012 10:24

I think I have a toffee and walnut! i will give it a whirl later.

Started the day with a choc mint and three large glasses of water. I may give mango a go later. The porridge is pretty vile isn't it? However, makes a change I guess.

What have you lost so far fedup? < apart from the will to live >

AliceInPoundland · 24/06/2012 16:50

Feeling OK towards the end of day 2 but bored to fuck already. I am also much more familiar with my bathroom than I ever thought i'd be... in and out in and out... I have one wee and then need another literally 15 minutes later.

Two shakes so far today - both choc mint - and a load of water. I don't feel hungry per se just... dunno. Bit tired, bit bored.

I'll try and be more riveting later < to my audience of one >

A friend of mine did this and lost 5 stone.

PippiL · 24/06/2012 21:21

Alice, stick with it!

I'm reading with interest as I've just contacted a counsellor. Waiting for a call tomorrow.

I'm a few lbs heavier that you, size 14, 5'5" want to get rid of the spare 2stone I'm carrying.

Can't wait to get started now, but am a bit nervous. I'm going to need all the support I can get!

henryhsmum · 24/06/2012 21:30

I am seeing a consultant on Friday! Got about a stone to a stone and a half to lose so hoping I can do it quickly!

I am worried about drinking so much as I work in a classroom so can't take toilet breaks for about 2 hours!

PippiL · 24/06/2012 21:39

I'm mostly worried about how I can cook the family food and not eat it, not even a tiny bit. Going to have to steel myself for that.

Henrysmum, can you drink quite a lot in the morning before work and get your wees in before you start, then the same for lunchtime, then drink like a fish after work??!

AliceInPoundland · 24/06/2012 21:42

Oh fab! More people!

Well, I had a mango shake for tea - making it three shakes in total today. It was alright. The key is to use a hand/stick blender, use chilled water and lob some ice in. It tastes palatable then. I cannot advise on the soups as refused all of them on the grounds that they sounded fecking grim.

The weeing thing is an issue, yes henry! Today I have drunk 2 litres give or take and visited the toilet approximately 11 times. I usually go twice in a day- maybe three times.

Pippi - we are probably about the same? I weighed in at 12 stone 4...although this was after mars bars, kit kats and a caramel egg. Oh and a diet coke. And with jeans on. Goal set at 10 stone 4 but there is no chance that I will stay on this past about a month or so. I'd like to see 10 stone 13 and then I intend to either stop or go it alone. I am hopeful for well over a stone off in this month.

OP posts:
PippiL · 24/06/2012 22:08

I think I would be about 12st 7 after dinner and with jeans on!

I'm aiming for 10st, but would be pleased with 10st 7. I would be happy with comfy size 12 clothes.

I have some motivation in my mind, just that I would like to have that feeling where someone notices the weight loss and mentions it. I'm going to try to keep thinking of that when it gets tough.

AliceInPoundland · 24/06/2012 22:32

Yes, me too. I read somewhere that you have to lose over a stone for people to start noticing. Terrific eh? Hmm

Well, I am hungry right now. I should have had a porridge < word used loosely > in stead of three shakes. Must go to bed as I just want to eat.

Hi,

Can I join. I'm seeing a consultant tonight. After months of trying to diet and sticking to weight watchers for a week or so and then going off plan I'm thinking that the sole source and lack of choice of food is the way forward for me to get back into all the clothes I can no longer wear!
I'm 11 stone 4 and aiming for 9 and a half stone.

AliceInPoundland · 25/06/2012 17:13

Hi georgie and welcome! We are a quiet thread so far as you may have noticed!

Well, today has been porridge and a choc tetra pack. Tea will be a fruits of the forest shake. I'm still making my way through another litre of water

I feel grumpy and tired and hungry. Day 3 for me. Keep thinking about cheese on toast. I have lost 3lbs in 3 days.

OP posts:
PippiL · 25/06/2012 18:30

I hear day 3 is the worst. Push on past it. 3 lbs in 3pm days. wow.

Waiting for this consultant to ring which she promised she would today. Frustrated and want to get started.

Twiddling thumbs.

AliceInPoundland · 25/06/2012 18:41

Can you call her? That is frustrating.

Fruits of the forest shake was ...ok. Drinkable I suppose. Chocolate mint is the clear winner so far.

I am still feeling hungry. Bought some ketostix today which show I am in ketosis now so that's something I suppose.

OP posts:
PippiL · 25/06/2012 20:39

I emailed another consultant who texted me back straight away to say she was putting the kids in the bath, but made a time to ring me tomorrow. Much more impressed.

Well, you snooze, you lose!

I tried my tea black today in preparation. Hmmm. I don't like sparkling water, so that's out. Guess its just plain old tap water for me.

AliceInPoundland · 26/06/2012 10:46

So day 4 in the house of hunger. I feel OK. Must stop hopping on and off the scales every day though. 4lbs loss so far. Ish.

Started the day with a toffee and walnut shake and it's the best so far. I actually thought it was almost delicious!

OP posts:
GeorgieWilson · 26/06/2012 16:00

How are you feeling Alice on day four? I'm starting to have a little bit of a headache now on my first day - dreading getting through the next couple of days if I'm going to feel rubbish!

Have only had strawberry shakes so far today and found them ok!

PippiL · 26/06/2012 20:29

Toffee and walnut. Am taking notes here.

You have to stick with it until I can join in the pain fun

katiewins22 · 26/06/2012 20:34

hello can i join. i really need to shift some weight quickly as am having operation next month and would like to be bit lighter to aid post-op recovery. Not major op - nothing too awful - mainly inconvenient.

Tried cambridge last year but couldnt get into a routine with it - I think i had too much on and the consultant was really overweight, unreliable and didnt seem interested. She put me off.

I have now found another consultant and am seeing her thursday so will start. I tried the soups last time and they made me feel ill so I am going to stick to the shakes. Somebody on another thread mentioned bars? The last consultant never mentioned anything apart from shakes/soup/porridge. She put me off the porridge by describing it in a way I won't repeat on here Shock

I will post when see new consultant. I am worried about doing this sole source - which is what I want to do just for 2 weeks - mainly because I really dont think I am setting my family a good example. Will see how it goes.

Kate.

5inthebedPPA · 26/06/2012 20:37

There are a few of us over here who've been doing CD for a few weeks now if you'd care to join us?

Not poaching anyone from your thread though Alice Grin

AliceInPoundland · 27/06/2012 07:58

Georgie - feeling OK - but bored and restless. Weighed in this morning at under 11 13 so it's working I suppose - just very dull indeed. I do sometimes feel very hungry, have to say, despite being in ketosis. I am usually a Pepsi Max kinda girl too so gallons of water is not my thing. I have stuck to it 100% however [ working on the assumption that there is no point in cheating as it just makes the whole exercise completely pointless ] and have 2 litres of water a day and 3 shakes or a porridge.

kate - I had a soup last night- mushroom. it was 'ok' ...I made it with boiling water though and whisked it. This helped a little. I couldn't drink one every day.

Am hoping to stick to this for maybe 3/4 weeks in total. I am crossing my fingers that this takes me to 10 stone something - as soon as i see 10 stone 13 I am so outta this diet.

5INTHEBED - I shall check it out. more traffic/support would be fab.

Work for me today - only between 10 and 2 but it makes the whole water thing very tricky as I keep having to go to the toilet. I am sure people think i have incontinence issues.

Day 5 today - had a choc mint shake [ along with toffee and walnut this is the nicest ] and am sipping water now for another 15 mins before I leave for school/work. I shall take a choc tetra shake for after work at 2pm.

Fingers crossed i last that long
