NOTHING. In fact I have put on 2 lb. I actually want to cry :(

I have tracked and stuck to my 26 points, have drunk 1.5-2 litres of water every day and have excercised. The only thing I can think of is that I have got really constipated and haven't been for quite a few days, so that might account for a gain. I've had plenty of fruit and veg (no more than 5 portions of fruit each day), but I don't understand.

It didn't even occur to me that i'd put on weight-i am so disheartened.

:(:(:(:(:(

Oh let's Sad the important thing is to keep going and next week you might get a huge loss.

Constipation is an issue for me too so I got some movicol from the Dr and lost 3lbs after a no loss week.

I think I would cut out some fruit though.

AuntFini · 20/06/2012 20:50

Oh that's such a shame. I never lose very much in my first week but I have never gained. Did you use any weeklies. I lose more when I use them, espeically when I'm doing lots of exercise.

This kind of diet doesn't work for everyone though. If you don't lose next week you might want to think of low carbing or something? WW is more about low fat I think, which isn't great for everybody.

Caerlaverock · 20/06/2012 20:54

I am the same. Ww has worked in the past for me before pro points but I seem to struggle now I am going to stick at it though.
Auntfini the new propoints scheme is. Less low fat and more geared towards low carb.

I am doing WW and have lost 2 stone 1 pound so far. In my second week though I gained too despite being really good like you.

Then I looked carefully at pro points, added up the calories I was eating and came to the conclusion WW were just giving me a way too high an allowance. I now allow myself 20 points a day, no weekly points and I point fruits at 1 point per 50 calories roughly. the weight has been coming off steadily since. For some people this would be too little and I am not suggesting this for you ... Just saying maybe look qualitatively at how much youve had. I have a very slow metabolism and I will not lose weight on over 1300 calories per day however I look at it.

The reason I still go to WW is I do still follow the programme and the points (just fewer of them) I love my meeting which is really friendly and I think the programme is slanted to help you make healthy choices. So I think there are a lot of reasons for sticking with it. I know several other members who have to stick well within their allowance to lose, though.

Finally I am convinced free fruit is a total red herring. Summer fruits are juicy and full of natural sugars and you can't just eat them without one eye to the calorie counter.

Anyway really empathise and so sorry you feel disheartened. Dieting is a pig without gaining weight in the process. Fingers crossed!

MrsMangoBiscuit · 20/06/2012 21:52

1300 in a day? I can manage that in a meal. Blush
I'm following this. It's been working so far, and I'm feeling pretty good, so certainly worth consideration. Good luck OP. :)

rushingrachel · 21/06/2012 11:08

I know 1300 would starve some people! And I could eat it in a meal too, that's why I needed to lose 4 stone!

just wanted to offer some sympathy to OP as I know it's disheartening not to lose when you follow the programme rigidly ... Lots of people have been struggling with pro points and i am sure it's the potential for consuming big amounts of calories in exercise points, weekly points and fruit that does it.

Losing weight is grim ... It's whatever works for you I guess.

foreverondiet · 24/06/2012 07:47

Look at your diet. Eat more protein (1g per lb of body weight), as a result to stick to calories/points you eat less carbs. Cut back on fruit to one a day - free fruit is a total red herring.

My aunt - is in her 60s has been overweight and following ww or similar HER WHOLE ADULT life. Anyway she was v upset and asked, why doesn't it work for me, am I destined always to be obese. She was eat 3-4 fruit an day and cereal for breakfast.

I said cut the fruit, cut the cereal and she said, oh not doing faddy low carb. Anyway she agreed to cut fruit to one apple or pear per day, cut the cereal but still eat pulses and starchy veg like carrots/parnsips (but not potatoes) and cut out grains.

She is now consistently losing 2lb a week, now lightest she has been for year, but still has a way to go. It was the fruit that was keeping her fat.

I agree with forever

I'm doing the old weightwatchers but also cutting my carbs.

So a typical day Is:

Natural yogurt for breakfast or wholemeal toast if I fancy it

Tuna, lettuce, peppers, spoonful olive oil

Chicken, butternut squash and cabbage

It's working for me, although I do have to take movicol daily for my Constipation!

I completely agree re fruit being no points too.
