Anyone on the Cambridge diet?

Bubbaloo · 24/02/2006 17:38

I started it last Friday, have stuck to it religiously and was weighed this morning to find I'd lost 10lb's in a week.
Now I'm looking forward to the chocolate bars that I've been given this week-can't wait to start chewing again.
Anyone else?

Just want to congratulate you! I don't know what the Cambridge diet is myself - but in regards to weight loss itself, congratulations
About 4 years ago I was a good 25kgs more than I am now and have kept it off. It's a lifestyle change realy, more than a diet, but a 'diet' in itself can help you get started. Keep up your good work

Bubbaloo · 25/02/2006 11:09

Thanks Kbear and congrats on losing your excess weight.
The Cambridgw diet is very similar to Lighterlife, where you drink shakes, soups and have choc bars.Although it seems drastic,I've got so much to lose(about 8 stone),so thought it would be worth a go.
So far so good.

well done you bubbaloo! I am on my eighth week and to date have lost 2 stone 9lb! it truly is an amazing weightloss and i do feel so proud..especially as i went shopping today for some basic bits and got size 12's! good luck on your journey that 8 stone will be off in no time

Bubbaloo · 26/02/2006 07:42

Wow that's amazing Laughinlil-I wondered if you were still on the diet! At the moment I'm not finding it difficult-probably as I haven't got to think about what food to have, just which flavour shake, soup or bar.
Well done you-that's fab!

I didn't know the Cambridge Diet was still around. I worked for them for a time back in the 80s during an ad campaign and we had literally thousands of replies every day. Haven't heard of it lately, so thought it had been usurped by Slimfast. Congratulations on your tremendous weight loss. Keep up the good work!

Bubbaloo · 20/03/2006 22:13

ThanksSmile.
I've been on it for 4 weeks now and have lost 22lb's so far.Finding it very easy-most definately the easist diet I've ever been onGrin.

bubaloo, how much do you tend to drink?

Do you have any flavourings, or the savoury drink,

i like the idea of the savoury drink, but it's the expense....

Norah · 02/04/2006 18:35

Hiya,

I'm on it from tomorrow too ! Have lost 2.5 stone on Lighter Life - then had a few months off but now want to get the last 1.5 stone off for summer !

Marigold Bouillon powder is with the stock cubes etc - don't buy the low salt one it is way too bland !

sanchpanch · 02/04/2006 18:39

Brillant Norah- i would love to have a support thread - where i can report to!!!!!! anyone else?

could we use this one?

cazH · 02/04/2006 18:41

Hi. Last year I lost 4 stone in 3 months with Lighterlife but my hair was falling out so bad I had to come off it. Also had real probs with constipation despite drinking loads of water. As I have a slight prolapse straining on the loo is not a good idea. Am thinking of weightwatchers next time, anyone had any really good results with them. I have some serious weight to get off

sanchpanch · 02/04/2006 18:45

I find ww ok, but i find it hard to stick to i am better off having nothing at all, some of my hair fell out last year after ex left me, it is ok now and i have lots of it anyway so not really a problem,

my cambridge women said if you drink over the recommended ammount of water it causes more hairloss,

cambridge is less water then lighter life.

dizzy34 · 02/04/2006 19:45

Hiya, the marigold boulion is with the gravy granules, stock cubes. I want to lost another 5 stoneish. Not sure of target yet.

sanchpanch · 02/04/2006 19:51

thanks i shall take a trip to asda before work....

lanismum · 02/04/2006 20:17

hello, can i join? i started the cambridge diet last monday, and i have my 1st weigh in tomorrow, its been quite hard, as i dont like the soups, only the shakes, but the hardest thing has to be the water! still, i can get my flavouring tomorrow so hopefully that will make it easier Smile

Bubbaloo · 02/04/2006 20:35

I'm the other way round-I only have the soups and of course...the yummy choc barsGrin.
I don't buy any flavourings ect...,drink about 3 litres of water a day(sometimes more),and struggle to even have 2 soups and a bar a day,as I'm just not hungry.
Sometimes, just before bed I realise I still have a soup to have, which is a pain, and I end up having it about 11pm,just because I've got to even though I don't fancy it.
I've still got another 6 stone to go,but hopefully I'll be at my target weight by the end of the year...I hopeGrin.

sanchpanch · 03/04/2006 15:06

well first half of day has been ok, had 1 litre if water, and stawberry shake which i did in the blender, and was fine,` i dont really fancy the soups so might need to change them at some point this week because the weather is nicer dont really fancy them, so need to email the lady....

How has everyone else been?

Bubbaloo · 03/04/2006 16:30

Glad to hear it's going well SanchpanchSmile.

Have been really good since starting the diet but gave in to half a jaffa cake earlier.Ds's fault-I wouldn't have eaten it if he hadn't have left itWink.

I find the shakes need to be whizzed up in the blender otherwise they go lumpy. The soups I just pour water on from the kettle and give a good stir and they're ok.
You'll enjoy next week-you can start having the bars from week twoSmile.

OP posts:
sanchpanch · 03/04/2006 20:14

yeah i did the shake in the blender, looking foward to the bars, which do you recommend

Norah · 03/04/2006 20:18

I only made it to 6pm - then my dd was desperate for me to have a slice of my birthday cake - so I gave in and now I'm about to have dinner !!

So I guess I will have to try harder tomorrow !
