Don't eat sugar, flour or potatoes. Job done. Well, it's worked for me anyway Smile

Low carbing then?

BorisJohnsonsHair · 05/06/2012 12:41

Yes, but not in an Atkins way. Still eating normally, and having stuff like milk in tea and coffee and some fruit, so not cutting out all carbs. I think a lot of the low carb diets are a bit too extreme for most people. Just cutting out the refined carbs and spuds has been easy to work out, not too hard to stick to and means that there's plenty I can eat. I suppose it's a bit like slimming world red days used to be, but having read about the science of insulin highs and lows it makes perfect sense to lose weight like this. Just wanted to suggest that others might find this as simple and effective as I have. BTW, I'm no stick, but have finally got my BMI down to under 25 after about 10 years of trying.

Works for me - I keep weight off with carbs under 100g a day or a bit more if exercising - this is not a ketosis diet though, I eat fruit, veg, dairy and pulses. I get totally constipated on ketosis type diets, so can't stick to it.

I have done it just as easily while still eating spuds, I love potatoes.

I just cut out wheat and sugar.

littledolly · 05/06/2012 22:02

I cut out wheat a few weeks ago & felt 100 times better. Lost the plot last wk with it though so after reading this, I'm inspired to get back on with it.

Can I ask though how much you all lost? I lost a stone with WW, got stuck, took up couch 2 5k, and an still stuck despite loosing inches. Would love at least another stone off.

I've lost 1st 12 lbs so far, but I was exercising more than I am at the moment. I hope to continue losing 1 - 2 lbs a week for the next couple of months.

Wow! That's great Boris - well done! Did you eat low fat too, or just as normal but without wheat and sugar?
