10,000 steps a day... Who wants to join me?

I am tryin to do 10,000 steps a day and wondered if anyone wanted to join me?

We can use the thread to record what we do each day.

I have a pedometer and really want to use this to make me more active generally but starting gently really.

Who's in?

I'm in. Just got a new pedometer (last one died a death ... sadly not through overwork Confused).

Nagoo · 07/06/2012 19:12

7629 but I didn't put it on until after I did a exercise PS3 game with DS :)

CharlieUniformNovemberTango · 08/06/2012 13:13

Morning everyone!

My steps for yesterday came in at 12762!

I'm happy with that.

Just heading into town to get a few last minute bits for my brothers wedding so I should just about hit my 10 k today as well.

Welcome roguepixie glad to have you along for the stroll :)

Anyone heading out into the wind today? I've been out of the window and I think I'll be blown home at this rate.

13324 yesterday :)

sat on arse at work eating McDonalds breakfast today Hmm

CharlieUniformNovemberTango · 09/06/2012 07:40

Well Nagoo- everything in moderation!

I did 8487 yesterday. It was so windy do we walked to town to pick up my
Dress and then straight home.

Will be popping into town today but not much walking will be done Sunday or Monday. I think the pedometer might be a bit noticeable under my bridesmaid dress!

my mum wears hers clipped onto the front of her bra Grin

Thank you for the welcome.

Twonk of the year reporting in. Reached for my Omron this morning and found the battery was flat. How's that for forward planning? Blush

All attempts to buy replacement have failed this morning - no suitable shops open here on a Sunday(Brussels) - so have turned to plan B (a) try and be as active as poss today (dh on business trip so may have to be exercise bicycle instead of walk if dd not keen) (b) start MyFitnessPal (again) (c) eat carefully. Will return to Plan A tomorrow.

Hope the wedding goes brilliantly Charlie!

Milewalker I need to lose between 15 and 20 kgs and it's posts like yours that give me hope that it is possible!! Do you have any tips please?

Onlyaphase Sympathies. I've had a few health issues and am also horrified by my rapid decline in fitness - it really is depressing. Hopefully walking will be the best way to get us back on track.

Congratulations to those of you who have exceeded target, met their target, nearly met their target! Every step helps!

And thanks for the much-need motivation everyone!

QODSaveOurGraciousQueen · 10/06/2012 15:29

7654 today so far and a 2 mile bike ride

Nagoo · 13/06/2012 22:29

ha, I'd lost you there for a while....

13000 ish yesterday, and 23825 so far today Grin

I have been forcing myself to walk the school run, and I went round the shops today, as well as walking to work :)

CharlieUniformNovemberTango · 18/06/2012 22:36

Hello ladies :)

New week and a proper start at this target.

Steps for today : 12230

Very pleased with that!

How is everyone else doing?

OP posts:
CharlieUniformNovemberTango · 18/06/2012 22:38

Also, I'm making an effort to drink more water this week so does anyone want to join me in keeping track of my 8 glasses!

Today I've had 4 :)

OP posts:
CharlieUniformNovemberTango · 20/06/2012 17:05

Yesterday I did 12601 steps and drank 7 glasses of water.

Today I'm 9338 and I should get to target as I'm planning a walk after tea.

DD has gone out with friends and DS is being grumpy just now. I'm going to feed him and then let him take his scooter out round the square to enjoy the evening sun :)

Hope you guys are getting your steps in?

How was everyone's weekend?

I know I'm kind of talking to myself here but I'm pushing myself to keep this up and be accountable so I'm still here!

My steps:

Thursday - 4341 I had a horrific night of gallstone pain and it left me warn out and fragile. Was also pretty painful all day.
Friday - 3578 :(. Same reasons as above. All of those steps were pottering around the house and pacing through the pain at 10pm so no dedicated walking.
Saturday -9136. Finally felt back on track. Took the kids to a children's play festival in the park and wandered around all day.
Sunday - 10,567. Feeling better for it too!

Not much This morning as I'm catching up with house work but I will go out this afternoon after DS has woken up from his nap.

Hope you guys are still stepping :)

Nagoo · 25/06/2012 13:00

hello :)

I'm sorry about your gallstones! What happens about them? My grandad had some out. I should have kept them, they were pretty. Now they blast them with lasers or something don't they?

I've been forgetting about the pedometer Blush the main thing for me was making myself walk to and from school and work. I need to think about starting the dvd regime up again, but ATM the house is such a tip by the time I'm done cleaning I need a sit down MN break :)

CharlieUniformNovemberTango · 25/06/2012 14:33

I'm on the waiting list to have my gallbladder out. But it's a long wait!

I've been working to get the house sorted here too. We were about to be moved out then there was a legal hitch and we got to stay another two months but we are living out of boxed just now.

I've no idea what I weigh because I'd packed the scales.

That's why the walkin thing is good because I don't need anything that's packed and it works well where ever we will end up.

oops, just started a thread but then came accross this.

off to buy a pedometer tomorrow

newlark · 29/06/2012 21:18

I've just put a new battery in my pedometer. Will join in tomorrow :)

newlark · 03/07/2012 12:13

How is everyone getting on? I've just been logging my daily walking without trying to do extra just to see what I normally do - Saturday 5762, Sunday 5591, Monday 13229 (school run*3 as ds is only in pre-school for the morning plus after school dance lesson for dd). So I think I'll need to make more effort on days when I don't have the extra midday pickup, perhaps walking a longer way home.
