I can't believe I've managed it. I'm so pleased with my self. I'm 38 and I've never done this before. I've started the Couch to 5K and I actually managed to run
With a BMI of 39 I'm amazed I could do it. I thought I'd have to give up half way through.

Just wanted to tell someone other than DH

Yey! Keep it up. I am on week 5, and Laura is my new best friend. So chuffed I managed 20 mins!

(MN NN invented 4 years, 2 DC and about 2 stone ago).

Thanks BRS! I didn't use Laura is she good? I have an app which let's me choose my own songs and then interrupts when I have to run / walk. It's cool. It shows me a map of my run too.

Ooh, I like the sound of your app. I am using the nhs podcasts. Laura is the lady who talks you through the runs and gives you motivational tips. The music is nit really my taste though.

Broken I like the sound of your app, what's it called?

BrokenBananaTantrum · 30/05/2012 19:39

I searched for Couch to 5k and its the one by run double. It's free for 2 week trial then its £1.60 which I thought wasn't bad. I'm still on the trial. Want to see if I can keep this up before I buy it

Woo hoo you! Well done!

Just started week 3 and I ran for 3 mins TWICE today! Two weeks ago a put up a post here asking if there was a chance I might die going on my second run of week 1 and that was just 60 second runs

I use Laura too - don't have anything to put apps on but that sounds really brilliant, especially the map thing - have to work that one out myself. Really like Laura though

Well done and keep it up! I was in your position a couple of years back and I've just done my second 10k and am also 2.5 stone lighter than I was then. You can do it! Smile

Seriously- STICK AT IT.

I started Couch to 5k 2 years ago. I struggled to run for even a minute and remember vomiting violently at the side of the road.

2 years on- Im doing 10k runs, joined a running club (run approx 6 miles- 8 miles 3 x a week ) and I'm doing the Great North Run in sept.

If I can do it then ANYONE Can- I really admire people who stick at running because it isn't easy!! but the rewards are magnificent!!

Good luck x

Wow thanks everyone. It's great to hear how you are all succeeding. It gives me hope. My legs hurt today but it is a rest day so I hope they ease off before I go again tomorrow.
