Thinking of doing the South Beach Diet - has anyone tried this?

I know it's low carb, and seems to be "good" fats rather than lots of meat fat. Has anyone tried this - how easy is it? I've been cutting down on carbs for the past 3 weeks - lost 5 lbs quite quickly but nothing in the last week, so really need a bit more structure and discipline I think. Have ordered the book which should arrive tomorrow, but just looking for a bit of encouragement on here! Thanks.

I did it almost 10 years ago now and it was fantastic, I lost a good couple of stone and found it very easy to follow. I did it over summer which helped as it's lots of salad and grilled meat, subsequently I didn't feel like I was sacrificing anything. I remember going out one night and having a couple too many drinks but danced loads (to counteract), I stepped on the scales the next day and I'd put on half a stone. A few hours later I thought 'hang on a sec that can't be right, I didn't drink that much', I weighed myself again and I'd actually lost half a stone and just not looked at the stone number at the top!! To this day I've no idea why it happened but I found that with the SB that randomly I'd just suddenly shift a mass of weight overnight. I tried it again about 2 years ago and it just didn't work at all. I followed the diet the first time day for day and bought every ingredient they suggested, it was expensive but I could afford it back then, two years ago however I couldn't afford all the steak and nice fish all the time and I think that's why it didn't work, because I was only doing it half heartedly.

I think it's a good diet and I did keep the weight off for a good few years the first time even though I dropped the diet and just ate healthily. However downside is that it is pricy but then that depends how much you spend of food anyway. I never bothered to customise it to make it cheaper so I suppose you could try that. I always loved the chocolate ricotta puddings and the masses of steaks mmmmm.

Still waiting for the book to arrive, but sounds like it should be good. Have lost another 2lbs now, so feeling quite motivated anyway. Thanks for your replies.
