Well only 0.5lb off this week which is quite disappointing for my second week. But my tmi is just about here so I'm hoping that's the reason as otherwise it will have confirmed that I am indeed a freak of nature and that I will never be able to lose weight again, no matter what I do.

On the plus side, I guess, I didn't gain or go back to square one which is what usually happens by a Monday so I shall keep the faith for a while longer.

BIWItheBold · 28/05/2012 19:30

But moonshine you have lost virtually half a stone in 2 weeks! That's fabulous!

OP posts:
Hepsibaaah · 28/05/2012 21:21

Still here! Back to where I was two weeks ago at 132lbs, so hovering in a limbo really :(
I get sooo discouraged with this, daily weigh has barely moved on the scales. Have kept the faith, averted my eyes - whilst drooling in envy - at the magnums consumed by DC's, and all to no avail.

Disappointed with myself. Wine required and will darn well have some.

BIWItheBold · 28/05/2012 21:51

What week are you on Hepsibaah?

OP posts:
moonshine · 28/05/2012 21:54

You're right BIWI I am pleased (and I am eating better than I have done in years I reckon on stupid-type diets) but isn't the first few pounds just water/your glycogen stores?

Hepsibaaah - know what you mean about the magnums but if you had eaten them, then you probably would have been heavier and much further from your goal.

BIWItheBold · 28/05/2012 21:59

It doesn't matter, moonshine - it is still weight that you have lost! But yes, now the hard work really does start. It's no different from any other diet in that regard.

The big difference, of course, is that you are eating healthy food (assuming you're heeding Bootcamp rules and eating fresh, unprocessed foods Grin), and you will not be hungry. You will not find yourself gnawing your arm off at 11.00 am because you're so hungry after breakfast. You will not find yourself obsessing over how many calories you have left, and wondering if a plate of boiled celery will be OK for dinner.

What's not to love?!

Hepsibaaah · 28/05/2012 22:05

Week 7. Shifted 7lbs after the first 4 weeks (iirc) and then hit a plateau ans pretty must stayed there. My clothes feel looser, definitely, but the scales say otherwise.
Not sure what my plan is now, stick this out for another few weeks or give up like I've done before.
I wonder if I'm eating too much dairy? Have had cheese/cream/butter as fat allowed, but I think I'm going to cut back a bit on those as well, see if that helps? That plus maybe fasting for a day or so ....but what I really need is a decent bout of food poisoning, that would do the trick!

Going to bed to dream of magnums :(

BIWItheBold · 28/05/2012 22:11

Are you enjoying your food? That's the first question.

Are you sure you're really following Bootcamp rules? Absolutely to the letter?

I would agree that dairy is a good one to cut back. Cream is a difficult one for me, and I am careful to keep the amount of cheese I eat to a minimum.

Are you eating enough fat from other sources? Mayonnaise, oily dressings and fattier meats and fish should be key choices.

And are you drinking enough water?

OP posts:
BIWItheBold · 28/05/2012 22:13

Oh, and did you take your measurements as well?

OP posts:
moonshine · 28/05/2012 22:15

BIWI - you're right, I am not obsessing about calories (although I do try and calculate some days what I'm eating in an idle moment at work) but am just desperate to fit into more than 2 outfits.

I'm definitely carrying on for now because I can be greedy on this WOE Grin

OliviaLMumsnet · 28/05/2012 22:17

I was told I was looking skinny today.
0.5lb off
Grin

BIWItheBold · 28/05/2012 22:26

Moonshine - sadly weight goes on a lot quicker than it comes off. You will just need to be patient!

Way to go, Olivia! It's great when other people notice and comment. And half a pound off is better than half a pound on!

Bootcamp rules - Pretty much :( came of the rails week before last but was v careful to keep on track this past week. Have made some flax 'bread' and have been having that as 'toast', can't help but feel it might be that plus the cheese and cream. Can I use creme fraiche in place of single cream?

No to the other fats, or not as much as I could do - butter has snuck in. Love oily fish, hate fatty meat.

No to measurements as well
Thanks BIWI
really am going to bed now!

BIWItheBold · 28/05/2012 22:53

Ditch the flax bread - other people complaining of little/no loss have been eating this too, so it may not be helping.

Creme fraiche still dairy!

Butter is GOOD!

Hepaibah I just off to bed too, sounds like you're giving yourself a hard time. Don't -you have done so so much better than me for a start Smile. Seriously I am one of the flax victims - I had a bit of a hissy fit this weekend ( see previous thread) lots of people on here gave me support and biwi, map, willie and others gave me a talking to were v helpfully specific Grin. You,ll be fine, we're all helping each other it's a way of ife as well as a way of eating, which is a big change it's not surprising it's a bit up and down for some of us. Have a good kip, life is always better after a good sleep

WillieWaggledagger · 29/05/2012 07:24

i think flax is for maintenance stage to be honest. i do have it from time to time for a bit of variety, but accept it's not going to lose me any weight

hepsi i'm not keen on the fat on meat either, but i do use the fattier cuts and make sure the fat is included in the cooking process, even if i don't actually eat all the fat that is still there when it's on my plate (and I do try to eat it!)

heartstart · 29/05/2012 07:36

3.5lb off since yesterday Just one day without dairy, flax or processed food

doradoo · 29/05/2012 07:47

200g up this week here - but given I have sinned badly I can't complain.

Have posh wedding at the weekend so need a week on bootcamp and no booze/nuts (my big downfall) - will see how we go.

I do however seem to have lost another half inch from my waist so not all is lost!

Jacaqueen · 29/05/2012 08:07

Updating my weight today.

I am now 189lbs which is 2lbs down from last week and 18lbs since start of bootcamp.

I still have loads to go but I do feel a difference in my clothes and I think I look a lot better than I did a couple of months back.

Thankyou so much BIWI and everyone else who posts and keeps the threads going.

BIWItheBold · 29/05/2012 08:09

Brillant, Jac! 18lbs in the 6 weeks so far is fabulous progress!

OP posts:
MmeLindor. · 29/05/2012 09:23

I put on 2lb, but I am not surprised about that, considering the weekend I had. Will take it off this week, and hopefully a bit more.

Hoping to find time for the gym this week so that should help.

BIWItheBold · 29/05/2012 11:21

I think you got away lightly, Mme! Grin

NigellasGuest · 29/05/2012 11:25

Heartstart - that is amazing! almost worth eating a load of flax in order to lose poundage overnight when I cut it out again

Hepsibaah - I have double cream, not single - there are fewer carbs in it and it really really fills you up, use in place of milk in your coffee and you feel like you've had a meal! Or at least I do. (if you prefer tea I'm not sure what the best thing is. The idea of cream in tea is pretty horrible. i have had to cut out my afternoon cuppa).

Fatty meat - I've had a problem stomaching this. I hate fat on meat, makes me feel totally sick. So I haven't done this part. Except for really really cooked bacon rind, although I've not had that much of it. Maybe I can try chicken thighs with really crispy skins ...but I'm so used to getting rid of skins / fat from meat, that I wouldn't know how to get the skin crispy without drying out the flesh!

BIWItheBold · 29/05/2012 11:43

heartstart - I missed your post! That is brilliant. I suspect you had a bit of water retention going on there.

Crispy skin - pan fry chicken breasts/thighs on both sides to brown/seal. Then turn over so it's skin side down and keep frying till crispy. It won't dry the meat out - the skin stops that happening.

Am impressed by all the losses. And inspired.

Came home to pretty much empty cupboards though, so not sure what to have for lunch. Mum said, "I had to throw out all your diet stuff cause it was out of date". Must plan a trip to supermarket this afternoon.
