Course you can! I have just watched 'obese. A year to save my life' I'm inspired myself now!

I hope so!

Is 52 middle aged? I have lost over 4 stones, gone from size 18-20 to 12-14 [and heading for size 10], and now swim 4.5 K a week. I have also just got my 1st ever bike [and learnt to ride it], started doing weights and can do proper pushups for the 1st time in my life.
Go for it! Don't make excuses for yourself.
Seriously, being healthy and fit is more important than ever at this age. I want to make the most of whatever time I have left.

Deffo!
I'm 43, last year I was 13 and a half stone, this year 9 stone and a size 10. I haven't weighed this since my mid 20's.

I need inspiring too. How did you do it Fluffy?!

I cut chocolate, biscuits, cakes, crisps, ice-cream, biscuits for the first three months and lost a stone. Then turned it up a gear and cut right back on carbs. This speeded up the weight loss and took 6 weeks to lose the second stone and another six weeks to lose the third stone . The 4 th stone took about 10 weeks. Then I reintroduced carbs into my diet at weekends but the last half a stone still came of. I stopped in the new year and didn't cheat once for the whole 8 months. I eat everything now except for chocolate, cakes, biscuits and icecream.
Good luck.

I believe lots on the low carb bootcamp threads have managed it too!

Yes you can! I've lost a couple of stone in the last year and gone down from a size 14 to a 10 - or 8 in some items (depends on cut etc). I'm 49. I always thought of myself as "big" but discovered - finally! - that I am actually quite small! I'm also short at 5foot 4inches so have gone from being quite potbellied to being a small slim person. Did it through using myfitnesspal (lots of stuff on that on here), eating really well, and doing lots of exercise which has been lifechanging. I now have muscles instead of fat and bought a bikini last weekend and it looks fab!!! You can do it!
