I'll join you happyhappymummy, I'm going on holiday in August and would like to lose 3 stone. To be honest, anything would be good so I'm going to just put my all into it and see hoe much I lose!

I'm 5, 3 and weigh 12st 10lbs at the moment, stepping it up from today and doing my davina did later, exercise is my plan from now on, at least three times a week and more if I can.

I'm doing the old weightwatchers as the new one doesn't work for me...

How have you been getting on?

Also losing weight for a holiday works, I lost 3st 12lbs for one two years ago, the only reason I put the weight back on Is because I got ill and the medication made me fat again!

Hi! I've joined the 'todays the day' thread, come and join us there Smile I'm doing ww too (the old one) good luck for your first week, you can do it!

If you want a fast loss without the food part (I prefer when I don't have to choose what to eat) than check out Exante, its like CD but cheaper and you don't need to meet with the rep/support woman neither. However they do advise that you get the once over from your GP before starting.
I've been lurking on an exante forum and there's some fantastic losses in the first 2 weeks, some have managed to drop almost 1 stone :@
I'm thinking about doing it myself for 4 weeks only, I want to lose around 20lbs, I'm not very overweight (my bmi is just out of healthy range) but I'm a little dubious that it will work well for me with not having as much to lose, so I'm currently watching a few of the members with similar amounts of weight to lose as me before I commit to it.

Hey dondon :)
Iv done this before and wouldnt want to do it again. Thanks though.
I need life change so ww is good for me at the mo. I know its slower but the outcome is the same.
Good luck whatever you decide to do :)

Thanks :)
I'm also wanting a life change, I've already lost some and have started using weights (kettlebells) the results are quite good from the KB's, but I'm thinking about the VLCD like exante to drop my weight quickly for 2 reasons really

1/ I don't want to end up bulky while defining i really mean finding my muscles and I think I would at this weight.

2/ I'm too impatient to do it at a slower pace, I've lost around 12lbs since end of feb and I'm starting to get frustrated now. I'm exercising 5-6 days weekly and want it off quicker.

I only plan to do it for 4-6 weeks maximum, if of course I can stick it.

Do you know anything about Paleo or Hunters diets? That's how I dropped weight by following a loose version of it - It done wonders for the bloating in my tummy too :)

happyhappymummy · 13/05/2012 08:31

Oh really? Thats good :)
I need to tone also. Im waiting my induction at the gym. I exercise too and I think this weigh although the weight loss is slower its a feel good factor.
If you decide to go on a VLCD when you have achieved the weight be very careful coming of it as you dont want to put it all back on. You would have to introduce healthy foods back into your diet. Make sure you ask for advice on the exercise whilst on the VLCD too.
No never heard of these diets. What are they?
Well done on the weight loss so far :)

Thanks, Yeah that's exactly my plan - drop the excess with the vlcd- then straight back to the healthy eating I'm following now and increase the fitness.

I recommend KB's, I was sceptical about them at first- 1200 calories burned an hour (or 400 for 20 mins) 1 hour would literally put me in an ambulance lol but OMG what a workout! not only are they increasing my strength but I have repaired the separation in my tummy muscles from pregnancy, it's almost completely closed now.
My core muscles have improved lots, I can feel the muscles getting tighter and it's done wonders for a back problem I've had for 17 years.
Too much info coming :) but I need to inform the ladies - - my pelvic floor has improved by around 80% (at the moment) after naturally giving birth to 3 huge DC- I never really got "it" back to normal or even close down there and was considering using Kegal balls (even considered designer vagina surgery lol) but now I have NO need thanks to the KB's.
That's on top of tightening me up in the area's they are designed for- bum, thighs, arms, abs, full body really.
It's best to go to a class to be taught how to use them properly and with the correct weights but you can teach yourself as I done, just make sure the weight is enough, as women tend to go for the light ones which don't work and don't give good fast results, they are too light. I started with 8KG which was probably a little heavy for beginner so the next weight down would be perfect.
Sorry for rambling......

Paleo - I shouldn't have called them diets as they're not really, more a healthy way of life but you do lose weight on them.
Its about eating as our ancestors did, nothing processed, no additives, all natural fresh foods that are easy to prepare and easy to cook. Google it there's a lot of info out there about it with variations too, you don't have to follow it 100% to see results. It can help to improve/get rid of acne, stomach/digestive problems, diabetes, PCOS, some fertility issues, the list is endless. Good thing for me was seeing the effect removing certain foods from my diet had on my health, especially the likes of white flour, bread and some cereals. If I eat it now I look like I have gained 7lbs on my tummy within a few hours :( so I try and stay well away from it. It's horrible when you feel so bloated that you could "POP" but you know you haven't eaten much to feel that way. Paleo really educated me in what was/could be to blame for that.
