Lots of you have said you want to do this - now it's time to put your money where your mouth is, so to speak.

Oh, alright, it's free. Grin

The plan is that we have two very strict weeks of low carbing. Which is why, doh, it's called a bootcamp.

There are 'rules of engagement' for the fortnight - but they're different if you're carnivore or a vegetarian. I shall post the rules for us carnivores, and flipflopflap will post the rules for those of you that are vegetarians.

Sign in with your starting weight - in pounds, stones and pounds, kilos or - if you don't want to reveal your weight, with 100 as an index - and what you're wanting to achieve in the two weeks. I know that not everyone is doing this for the purpose of weight loss, so you don't have to do this if you don't want to - but tell us what you want this fortnight to help you achieve.

The Carnivore Rules

1.Eat three, proper meals a day.
You must eat breakfast. It doesn?t have to be a lot, but you must have something. For the rest of the day, if you?re eating enough food and you are in ketosis then you shouldn?t be hungry. But if you are hungry, eat something. (Hard boiled eggs make a great snack)

2.Avoid processed food
Focus on pure, natural protein as the basis for your meals ? meat/fish/eggs. Things like sausages, ham, bacon, pre-prepared burgers etc should be avoided as much as possible. You can have them, but just not every day. Avoid foods marketed as low carb, e.g. Atkins Daybreak bars.

3.Eat lots of fat.

Eating fat helps you to burn fat. Honestly! Fry in butter, add butter to vegetables, eat salad with a home-made vinaigrette dressing (not made with balsamic vinegar though, as this is too sweet), add mayonnaise where you can (just check the carb count on your mayo first). Eat fattier cuts of meat ? e.g. pork belly, roast chicken with the skin on and/or eat the fat off your lamb chops. Absolutely no low fat/light foods of any kind!

4.Make sure you are eating vegetables and salads with your food ?
This is where your carbs should come from, and this is non-negotiable. But choose only those vegetables that are on the allowed list. You don?t have to weigh/count carbs ? this is one of the great joys of this WOE (way of eating), but if you?re new to low carbing it can be helpful to weigh your portions of veg in the early days, just so that you know how many carbs are in the sort of portions that you like to eat

*5.Be careful about dairy (apart from butter, which is unlimited). It can impede weight loss for some people. If you are still drinking tea/coffee with milk or cream, try to restrict yourself to max 2 cups per day. You may eat cheese, but don't overdo it. Full fat yoghurt is the best way to include dairy in your diet - but beware, it does contain carbs. Total Full Fat is the best.

6.You must drink a minimum of 2 litres of water per day.
The more weight you have to lose, the more water you should drink

7.No alcohol
If you really can't do this - at least try and restrict it to the weekend. Vodka with soda is the best thing to drink. Or Champagne, red wine or dry white wine.

8.No fruit
Really. Seriously. Honestly. None at all. Zilch. Nada.

9.No nuts/seeds
Whilst these are really good to snack on later - it can be too easy to start snacking on these - and before you know it, all your carbs have gone on nuts. Seriously - in bootcamp - don't do it to yourself.

10.No sugar or artificial sweeteners

First half day successful :o

Waist measurement 34inches, really need to get that to 30 or below.

Lunch was lettuce with a couple of cherry tomatoes, raw mushrooms, gherkins and ham with a teeny amount of honey & mustard dressing (not ideal) more fecking water....

Breakfast - boiled egg & black unsweetened coffee
Lunch - green salad with egg, ham and a leeedle tiny bit of parmesan (was lush) however I forgot to bring the dressing (am at work)

approx 3/4 way through my first litre of water

no sign of any twitching or gibbering yet

Picnic going well. Kids eating cheese a.d cucumber rolls, bananas and biscuits with squash - I managed 3/4 of my ham salad and have water. Evening snack is my downfall. And mullerrice. Going to abstein damnit!

Am starting L/c today and have had

Bfast - 2 boiled eggs, left over roast pork, black coffee
Snack - roast pork
Lunch - 'courgette carbonara' courgettes fried in butter with salami and creme fraiche and a bit of grated cheese on top. Now stuffed!
Supper will be marinaded pork steak with salad.

Lots of water too so far.

Been ok so far,had a boiled egg about 9.30 which i bought to work,then chicken salad for lunch.Havent decided on dinner yet but have a great choice as shopped yesterday.

Checking in :) No snacks this morning and not too tempted despite giving the last of the chocolate mini rolls to DCs. 1 litre of water drunk. Lunch was good - IPD roasted butternut soup complete with their suggested, and totally lush, topping of bacon and parmesan, spinach, celery and cucumber salad with guacamole and a couple of slices of parma ham. The children had the same just with a couple of slices of bread each so that was a super easy lunch.

Moussaka and green veg for dinner with Greek yoghurt, parmesan and egg topping rather than a cheese sauce.

Next hurdle is my cake decorating class this evening - there will be cake offcuts and buttercream and icing all available but I shall prevail, I shall!

Hmmm, just realised that reads like I put a salad on top of my soup... Bacon and parmesan was on the soup, salad was on the side :)

Right then, had 2 eggs, butter and some bits of salmon microwaved together instead of my normal porridge. With two cups of hot water.
As a snack 'cos I am starving after a morning with the kids and tescos I had a bit of my chicken brothy stuff with some soft cheese mixed in (about a heaped teaspoon.) And lots of water. AM waiting for some chicken to cook which I will eat with salad, I'll prob melt some butter over the chicken. Am not missing anything yet, but haven't eaten chocolate for 2-3 days anyway (and I don't eat wheat anyway.)

Just a thought, would it be better to have a general chat thread to share our experiences and to ask for ehlp or moan on and have a specific weighing- in thread?

I have another question

I've just put today's food into myfitnesspal to track the carbs. Broccoli's on The List but if you steam it it goes into carb overdrive - 6 carbs per cup! I was going to have shitloads. I love broccoli . Do I have to count it or is it OK?

I am developing an addiction for spinach sauteed in garlic butter; I've had it practically every meal since Thursday. I have green wee :o

Breakfast : Poached egg and a slice of ham
Snack : Boiled egg with peppery mayonnaise
Lunch : Pan fried salmon with the obligatory spinach.
Dinner will be chicken in a buttery curry sauce, with broccoli and green beans. Kids will have added noodles.

Have had a litre of water, plus two herbal teas and 2 weak black teas. Can't give up my morning cuppas just yet!

Fourthousand - that can't possibly be right. How can steaming something suddenly increase its carb count?!

Is it an American site you're using? Because they include fibre in their carb counts. That could be why? The Carblife carb counter has broccoli as only 1.1g per 100g.

Why would steaming the brocolli make a difference to the carb count? I was going to eat loads as well tonight. I'm concerned now Confused

I think if you cook something it does change its carb count BIWI - I read it in Dr Briffa (carb and GLs are different for potatoes dependent on how you cook it).

Plus raw mushrooms have different carb count to cooked ones.

I am sure I am not making that up.

I cannot believe the size of this list! Good luck everyone.

I have not eaten anything other than some cheese - need to go shopping.

I've ordered the rose elliott book as I don't eat much meat

Are any snacky things allowed at all?

I'm doing really well with my tea drinking- usually have at least 6 cups a day- I've only had a green tea & a peppermint tea so far!!

This is american, but seperates the carbs from the fibre, but it has different counts if raw or cooked.

I have totally given up on counting the carbs! It seems that no matter which app/site they're all different.

I'm just sticking to the lowest carb veg and having a couple of portions with lunch and dinner.

I lost half a pound between weighing in yesterday morning and this morning - so I must be doing something right.

Breakfast - 2 x boiled eggs
Lunch - Leftover lamb from yesterday's roast, cauliflower cheese, 5 x brussel sprouts
Dinner - Salmon, half an avocado and buttered asparagus.

Swam for 20 minutes at lunchtime, and got to go and start my friend off on the C25K tonight, so will be doing a little gentle running.

Been LC since Friday - no alcohol all weekend , I feel fantastic today!
