If you are/were quite overweight and started exercising did you see a doctor first?

If you did what sort of things they they look at? Were there any tests?

I am about 3-4 stone overweight and am finally feeling motivated to do something about it.

Just wondering if I should see a doctor first? I have no health problems that I know of (apart from being very unfit)

I am going to start walking (with some gentle jogging) at first and doing a Wii fitness game I have.

I am hoping the answer is no because I am not in UK and doctor visit will cost me ?50 and possibly extra if they do any tests.

Thanks

No I didn't see a doctor. I have about 5 stone to lose - 2 stone gone so far.

I did some walking and swimming and then I joined the gym and now I do Zumba, gym and Pilates.

I think as long as you don't have any known health problems, chest pain or any other serious symptoms then you should be ok.

I would have thought for "just" 3-4 stone with no health issues no need esp if you plan to start slowly.
