The previous thread was getting a bit full so I thought I should start a new one while we could still link between them.

OP posts:

Sorry to hear about your granny, Queen. I'd echo GOML and say make sure you're looking after yourself as well. (Although if you're conjuring up recipes like that chowder, it sounds like you're doing OK!)

Scales down another 1/2 pound this morning, despite a more carby day yesterday. Went out for an Indian meal with some friends and I did have half/three-quarters of a poppadom. The rest was OK I think: chicken tikka shashlik, mushroom bhaji and spinach bhaji. Then when I was at home, watching the golf with DH, I had half a bottle of wine and some cheese.

So I was surprised to see a loss this morning, but I'm not complaining!

It's possibly down to a brutal session at the gym yesterday. It started with an apology from my trainer, who said to me "you're not going to like me today"!

[bugrin]

PaquesJeLeVauxBien · 06/04/2012 09:45

Oh, and I had leftover roast pork and red cabbage for brunch, with lots of fat - and I've generally been increasing the fat levels, so I think/hope that's been the secret for me getting through this sticking point.

PaquesJeLeVauxBien · 06/04/2012 09:51

encyclogirl - what plan are you following? Only that would dictate whether or not you could have berries. (Try working out how many carbs there would be first of all, including the yoghurt before you decide if it's worth it)

But this blog article by Dr John Briffa, which I read this morning, is interesting:

www.drbriffa.com/2012/04/06/are-berries-good-for-the-brain/

Could be worth it, based on that!

encyclogirl · 06/04/2012 09:56

Well done BIWI! I must admit consuming buttery pork and veg first thing in the morning was surprisingly liberating! I felt like a rebel, living outside the law brekkie-wise.

I'm sure the brutal session at the gym really did help. What do you eat after a work-out?

PaquesJeLeVauxBien · 06/04/2012 09:59

I don't eat anything afterwards - I did have a small amount of full fat Total yoghurt before I went. Trainer is very keen on breakfast and always asks if I've eaten any. I usually have an egg of some description, but couldn't face it at 6.00am before my 6.45 session!!!

Creamtea1 · 06/04/2012 10:59

Well I had about 85 vodkas last nIght, have been good so far today. Does anyone know if the period water weight goes away once the period is here or is it in the days following its departure?

teaandthorazine · 06/04/2012 13:08

Am in frankie & bennys with ds, about to tuck into a bacon cheeseburger, no fries, no bun! The waitress thought this was nmost amusing Grin

And no popcorn in the cinema either!

PaquesJeLeVauxBien · 06/04/2012 13:09

[bugrin]

TheGoddessBlossom · 06/04/2012 13:44

Lunch today was some berries and greek yog, celery with some brie and 2 scrambled eggs. And a skimmed milk decaf coffee.

Am just going to post some of my meals on here as I have them so that you all can sound a klaxon when something looks not right if that is ok with you. Have gained weight this week, despite 2 gym sessions, and apart from the red wine, I am not sure what I am doing wrong....[busad]

PaquesJeLeVauxBien · 06/04/2012 13:49

You're not eating very much for a start!

Not enough veg and not enough fat.

How much water are you drinking?

lemniscate · 06/04/2012 15:22

Goddess - I think the main thing is upping your veg and making sure your eggs are cooked in a healthy helping of butter and/or oil. A bit of cheese in the eggs might help too.

I had a very similar lunch to you: 2 egg omelette cooked in butter and oil, stuffed with mushrooms also cooked in butter, spinach, cheese and tomato. I had this with a side salad of spinach in an olive oil and sherry vinegar dressing (about half a dinner plate's worth) and crudites of celery & cucumber to dip in guacamole and taramasalata (watch shop bought as some are loaded with bread). So not substantially different to yours but a bit more veg heavy and the cheese gives extra protein and fat.

PaquesJeLeVauxBien · 06/04/2012 15:51

Goddess - apologies, I misread your post and thought that your breakfast was yoghurt, and that all you had had for lunch was celery and scrambled eggs!

Did you have any breakfast though?

PaquesJeLeVauxBien · 06/04/2012 15:53

And I am [bugrin][bugrin][bugrin][bugrin][bugrin] because I've just been out and bought myself two new pairs of jeans. I didn't want to buy new clothes quite yet, as I still have some way to go in terms of weight loss, but both my pairs of jeans had holes in them at the tops of the inner thighs, and were scruffy beyond belief.

I tried on size 12 first, and they were too big - so 'go me'! - I came home with two pairs of size 10 jeans! [bugrin][bugrin][bugrin][bugrin]

GetOrfMoiiLand · 06/04/2012 16:15

That's brilliant BIWI - I know it sounds daft but I think there is nothing so cheering when on a diet to go down a size in jeans. I remember how chuffed I was when I got some new jeans a few weeks ago.

I ordered some dresses from the Dorothy Perkins sale last night (4 dresses for 40 quid!) so am looking forward to those turning up next week. They are all rather fitted so hopefully will fit nicely.

I haven't eaten much today (not hungry) but have just done a Jillian M workout so feel pleased. I am just off out to watch Titanic 3D (yes I know how sad that sounds!) and will have something to eat beforehand, and a glass of prosecco I think.

GetOrfMoiiLand · 06/04/2012 16:17

I like your namechange btw - I changed my name to French a few years ago (getorfmoiland in French is PatrtirMaTerre) but think your easter name of last year was genius (BecauseImWoeufIt Grin) - didn't you win a load of chocolate or am I making that up?

PaquesJeLeVauxBien · 06/04/2012 16:20

I did - I won a whole load of fabulous Amelie chocolates. And I ate most of them myself Blush.

I decided not to use that name again this year - even though I'm very fond of it - because I've used it every year! But I had a sudden flash of inspiration with regards to this one. Mind you, I keep seeing it all over the boards and wondering who it is!

GetOrfMoiiLand · 06/04/2012 16:21

I keep wondering who it is on this thread as well!

vnmum · 06/04/2012 16:41

fab news BIWI it's so good to get in smaller sizes. I tend to not want to buy new clothes till I am at goal but sometimes you just have to, and it really motivates you to carry on when you go down a size.

PaquesJeLeVauxBien · 06/04/2012 17:06

I think I'm also seeing the results of the gym/personal trainer as well. I'm definitely thinner than my weight, IYSWIM.

PaquesJeLeVauxBien · 06/04/2012 17:07

And actually, even though I didn't want to buy new jeans right now, I think they'll probably last a while, as I'm carrying my most obvious weight on my torso, above the waist line. (An ever-lovely muffin top).

Creamtea1 · 06/04/2012 17:15

Oh dear...
I've just discovered/eaten a MiM...genius and quite tasty and quite big also! So questions:
Are they supposed to come out as big as the cup?
Is it a bad idea to have one for breakfast a few days a week?
Will it hold together if I add some raspberries?
Anyone have any variations on it?
Does it help also with 'moving things along' !

GetOrfMoiiLand · 06/04/2012 17:39

I agree that exercise makes a huge difference - I would say 100% that I had had just dieted and not exercise pretty much every day, I wouldn't have lost has much weight, or more importantly wouldn't have looked as slim in my new jeans!

TheGoddessBlossom · 06/04/2012 18:01

bugger just wrote a long post and lost it. Basically. - was doing Zoe Harcombe which is carbs OR fats just not in same meal. So eat Porridge with hot water for brekkie. so am nervous about eating too much fat. Eat low fat greek yog for eg. But am low carb on all other meals.

PaquesJeLeVauxBien · 06/04/2012 19:21

Ah. I never quite got to grips with the Harcombe Diet, although the book made a lot of sense. I couldn't come to terms with the fact that you could eat brown rice in phase one!

I'm thinking of doing a 'BIWI bootcamp' for a couple of weeks, starting after Easter, if anyone wants to join me? I suppose it will be a bit like Atkins induction, but I feel the need for two weeks of strictness, and it would be good to have others along with me for the ride/support!

Creamtea1 · 06/04/2012 20:11

I started off with harcombe but then moved into more Atkins territory, I like her theory and ideas though.
Boot camp sounds interesting, what's the plan?
