The previous thread was getting a bit full so I thought I should start a new one while we could still link between them.

Hi Leminscate, I have that book at home, and I lost a shed load of weight on that plan way back in 2008. I am hoping I can re-introduce porridge after phase 1. I already have a blinding headache today, I was eating so many carbs my body is already wondering where it is.

By now I would've consumed:

Porridge, banana, two thick slices of bread in a sandwich with potato salad on the side, and perhaps a few biccies.

It's only when I write that down I realise the extent of my carb addiction.

vnmum · 02/04/2012 15:06

hi all, well i have been good this weekend PBB Smile

i have lost quite a few pounds since official WI on wednesday but i won't post up yet as not official day till wednesday but if it stays as i was this morning, i am only 2lbs off the weight i was when i got married, but am slimmer in body shape.

went to the gym this lunchtime and haven't been for about 2 weeks and 2 of the instructors told me i looked like i'd lost more weight, especially round my middle Grin, how pleased was I?! Ran home from gym too, part road part trail and it was 2.84miles. not bad really but I have only just forced myself to eat as just not feeling hungry so had ham and cheesey coleslaw.

waiting for Tesco man to arrive so I can decide what's for tea.

welcome back encyclogirl

encyclogirl · 02/04/2012 16:13

So it's 4.15pm and I feel quite light headed, but not hungry. I'm guessing this isn't completely abnormal? I remember feeling crappy the last time I attempted to low carb.

Dinner tonight is stir fry chicken with lots of spinach. I will just skip out on the noodles.

What is everyone else having?

Creamtea1 · 02/04/2012 16:24

PBB hi5s vnmum! Grin
Hi encyclo, I had:
chocolate poo for breakfast (coconut/almond/flax/sesame seed/cocoa powder & butter mixture)
chicken mayo, little gem lettuce & spoon of coleslaw for lunch
Minced beef & veg for dinner with grated cheese on top

pluckingupcourage · 02/04/2012 16:57

GetOrf if you feel as if you are at risk of bingeing, why not factor in one feast meal per week. I lost weight for PCOS (and conception!) reasons on a low carb diet (I am also at very high risk of diabetes so the low carb way is more a way of life now) - when I was low carbing to lose weight I factored in one feast meal a week, when I could eat whatever I wanted, and knowing that I could eat whatever I wanted would prevent bingeing and I would just look forward to the eat whatever meal. That seemed to keep the bingeing in check. I still lost lots of weight. I still do the feast meal thing, though I don't "need" to do it as often, and it has helped. Often when I got to the meal when I could eat whatever, I didn't really go overboard as it just wasn't as great as I had thought it would be (halfway through a jam doughnut I realised it didn't really live up to the hype Grin)

pluckingupcourage · 02/04/2012 17:00

encyclo - I think that the lightheadedness happens when your body has finally used up its sugar stores. I remember it well. Make sure you're eating enough (i remember nibbling cheese when I was going through the lightheadedness). One mistake I made was accidentally upping carbs just after I went into the lightheadedness phase and I was cycling in and out of ketosis which was harder to take. If you just ride it out you will soon feel very clear headed.

BIWI · 02/04/2012 17:04

Sorry you're not feeling too great, GOML.

Apart from my silly hissy cheat on Friday night, I've been good too! And the scales have finally rewarded me - down to 10.7 (and a half) this morning.

Hopefully things will continue downwards now.

GetOrfMoiiLand · 02/04/2012 17:05

I have no idea what happened this weekend - I think I just had a stressful conference and was very tired. I feel fine this morning and have no desire to eat shite, am back in the zone and had tune salad for lunch and some macadamias. Am looking forward to exercising as well this evening.

I think a feast day is a good idea - strangely enouigh I couldn't actually predict that I was going to go all out this weekend, usually I have no desire to eat things like bloody jelly beans and sabotage my good work. Oh well.

I have gone nowhere near the scales, but think I should so I know the extent of the damage!

GetOrfMoiiLand · 02/04/2012 17:06

Thankfully my kidney stuff has cleared up this morning - I live in dread of that coming back.

I never ever have a heavy period so wondering what that is. Plus I have two spots. And my tummy is awfully bloated. I am going to blame it on the wheat. Wheat - you are a wanker.

pluckingupcourage · 02/04/2012 17:11

I used to find myself breaking into the freezer for whole loaves of bread unless I planned a feast meal, I could never predict when I would suddenly find myself in the kitchen on my 8th slice of bread, so the feast meal saved me ;-)

Period - could it be your hormones settling down/reacting to low carbing. It had a massive impact on mine (though mine were so messed up before, I am perhaps atypical).

vnmum · 02/04/2012 17:42

my periods have gone wonky this month too. They have been regular as clockwork then this month I am a month late. There is no way I can be preggers before anyone tells me to pee on a different type of stick Grin as DH has had the snip. I have heard of the low carbing regulating periods but may have to do more research to see if it can make them late aswell, and there is no way I have too little body fat to stop them, you need an athletes body for that and mine is not one of those Smile.
My skin is still shocking, doesn't help that I pick sopts but my chin and forehead are a mess. Have been doing oil cleansing but it doesn't seem to be making a difference.

Thanks for the high five PBB, my wedding was 10 years ago this year and after my wedding day I have never been as slim until now.

teaandthorazine · 02/04/2012 17:53

My skin's gone haywire too. Am trying to reassure myself that it's a combination of water ++++ and hormonal changes due to not eating crap all the time. But my nose actually hurts with spots and I even have a spot in my ear! Bit gutting since I spent the best part of 2010 sorting out my skin with industrial amounts of benzyl peroxide... Ho hum.

On a lighter note, have just been shopping and my fridge looks AMAZING  The onions are frying for the celeriac dauph - this so doesn't feel like a diet!

encyclogirl · 02/04/2012 20:30

Still feeling all achey and fluey and v.v. lightheaded. Toughing it out though. I stopped in the shop on the way home and got some ready to eat prawns. What a fabulous snack!

I think I underate a bit up to that point tbh.

Can I have sparkling water?

I really want some chocolate poo btw!

Oooh, oooh, has anyone ever made cauli mash? I used to love that stuff. I can dig out the recipe if anyone wants it.

Dh bought some wasabi almonds. I'm gonna have some with a boiled egg in the morning. I have to watch it with the nuts though. Too yummy by half!

JaxTellerIsMyFriend · 02/04/2012 20:53

back from my overnight stay, which involved wine but I was good with food.

back to normal tomorrow.

AngryFeet · 02/04/2012 22:45

Ok day today. Didn't eat enough really and only had a few mouthfuls until 6pm Blush

Made up for then by having a yum salad of shredded lettuce, Mayo, pineapple, onion crispies and a chicken leg shredded on top.

3 hours later had dinner of lamb steak, cauli mash and broccoli.

Also had too much booze and not enough water Blush

Must stick to the rules! Can stay away from the carbs but need to make sure I drink water and eat more greens

AngryFeet · 03/04/2012 09:22

Grrr stayed the same. Consoled myself with a half flax/half almond Mim with melted cheese for brekkie. Was lovely :)

8 days till my holiday. I WILL lose that last 1lb to get my first stone target by then!

Yoghurty · 03/04/2012 09:43

Hey all,

Marking my place here because once again, I have let things slip and put all my previously lost weight back on again. So, once again, I am back doing 'the pink book' as I call the IPD! I have found that high protein/low carb is the only thing that really works for me- I lost 3 stone when I was 22-ish when someone told me about the High Protein Diet by Dr Charles Clark. I loved it and found it so easy- I then have used various others, Atkins etc over the years when i've needed to keep myself in check.
I found the IPD in about 2006 and it is my failsafe- I know it works and yet I still manage to never get past phase 2 (I lose the weight then get bored/complacent/stupid)
So, as of yesterday, I am 'back on it' Grin

Looking forward to seeing how everyone does- me included!

JaxTellerIsMyFriend · 03/04/2012 11:43

glad to have you back yoghurty

Ive put on 2lbs over my indulgent weekend/girls night out, but I am back on track - this has to fit in with real life so making smart choices with food has probably allowed me to have the wine.

Once my pleurisy has gone away completely I am going to get back into swimming and do some aqua roebics again... may even venture to the gym!

encyclogirl · 03/04/2012 12:29

Hi all, I toughed out my night of lightheadeness and shakes, then hopped on the scales this morning to find myself 2lbs down. IN ONE DAY! Obviously I realise this is water etc, but still...I've been steadily gaining these past 4 weeks, so to see a loss is fantastic.

I really feel like I'm committed to this WOE already. Every other time I've been doing deals in my head, figuring out ways to still have carbs while on this plan. Not this time.

What is MiM?

Welcome Yoghurty. It does work, you just have to totally surrender yourself to it.

GetOrfMoiiLand · 03/04/2012 13:09

I could bloody well scream.

10.7 last Wednesday.

Bloody bastarding 10.13 this morning.

I know I ate a lot this weekend but 6lbs?

I hadn't exercised in ages - I last exercised last Wednesday (did some Jillianing last night though).

I feel that a slack week (ish) and eating like Henry VIII in his latter years has undone all my good work.
