Want to lose weight and get fit . .

That's it in a nutshell Grin

Have read and reread many of the threads about losing weight and getting fit and can't decide which route I would be better taking, note I have been reading these threads for many months now and in that time the weight has been steadily going on rather than off . .

Anyway in a bid to do something about it, and taking on board advice given to others on various threads, this week I will ...

  1. Go for brisk walk 4 mornings this week.
  2. Drink 2ltrs of water.
  3. Have protein breakfast.

Am hoping by writing this down that I will stick to it, don't want to go all out and lose weight on some strict diet regime and then put it back on.

I want this to be a sustainable lifestyle change and each week take on board some more advice from the threads on here.

I think that sounds like a great plan for maintaining weight but I think you will not see much movement on the scales. Why don't you try running? Have a look at the Couch to 5k thread - running I will burn 400 calories in 30-40 min. Walking it's around 200 calories an hour. Bearing in mind you need to burn 3500 calories to lose just 1lb, the exercise only route just doesn't deliver results quickly enough to keep you motivated. Whatever way you lose weight it all goes back on if you eat more than you burn...however slowing it's lost.

I found the only way to really stick to it was to use food focus or some use mfp to log ALL food and exercise. If you do this and stay within limits you will lose weight. I have managed 4 st 5lbs but still use foodfocus for maintenance

Oh, and good luck Grin. It is worth it Smile
