Hello Ladies,

every time I look in the mirror--I am horrified with the very large lady staring back at me. My son was recently diagnosed with ASD and wasn't being too supportive for a bit.

I know I should lose weight, but I just keep adding more weight on. I really need the support and motivation to lose weight.

sorry, meant to say my DP wasn't being to supportive as of late--but that is because he was having his own difficulties with other things.

However you lose weight, you need to visualise yourself afterwards and believe you can get there, whilst a supportive DP will definitely help, he won't make the difference between success or otherwise, only you can do that. Think about how much healthier you will be and feel, about how you will like your reflection and enjoy trying/buying/wearing new clothes. Be excited at the idea and at the amazing changes we can effect in our bodies. You can do it!

Do you know how much you would like to lose or how you might do it? What is typical day of food/exercise now? Do you think you would be best following your own plan or could something like weight watchers, would the added support of a group help? Plenty of groups losing weight on here if you would prefer.

Hi glitter - i am in the same boat as you. I want (and NEED to for health reasons) to lose weight but nothing seems to motivate me. I have loads to lose and the only thing i have started & actually stuck to is parking further away from work and walking in (about 1/2 a mile away) - its not much but at least its a start - could you do something similar? i HATE excercise but this samll thing seems to be going ok. Would WW or SW help you? There is an offer on at WW atthe moment if you go before April (7th i think) its free registration and 1st week free too. Ive been to these before and do well for a while but then give up. Oh well............. I really hope you are inspired by the posts on here and I will watch and pinch all the tips with interest. darth x

I have set small achievable goals: one pound a month (I haven't got much to lose, I must admit) and NO MORE NEW CLOTHES until I get under 12 stone.

It can help to display a photo of oneself looking particularly large.

Hi FarSide - thats a good idea about the photo - i have a pic of my DC on the fridge hoping it will guilt me into resisting but it hasnt worked - if i put my big fat mug there instead it might have the desired effect! one can only try........

Would a picture of you slim motivate you more? A picture of you plump just makes you say 'sod it , i'm fat so i'll have another cake, biscuit, glass of wine .can't make me much worse.'. What do you think?

I read Paul Mckenna's book. I found it very helpful.
