Slimming World during pregnancy - any stories?

I joined Slimming World 5 weeks ago and have lost 12.5lb, so doing well. I have, however, also gained a little passenger (4+5), and am keen to continue on the plan. I still have 4 stone to lose, which I realise will not happen yet, but I also do not want to gain a vast amount of weight during pregnancy either. Has anyone actually done the plan and ended up weighing less after delivery? Is it realistic to expect to lose a bit of weight before delivery? Any experiences would be welcome. Many thanks.

Congratulations on your pregnancy!

I followed the plan loosely whilst pregnant, & although put weight on, didnt put nearly as much on as I had with earlier pregnancies. At its core, it's a healthy eating plan & that's great for the baby & you.

Since having my 3rd, I've been following it again & so far have lost over 2 stone (with another 1 to go).

Thank you tooblunt I am expecting my 3rd too Smile I was so big with DD2, so I have to avoid my cravings for Double Cheeseburgers! Well done on your weight loss - nearly there!

Thanks VQ, I lost 5st after DC2 (wasnt following SW before or during, only heard of it afterwards) so was pleased this time that I only had 3 to lose!! I continued to eat SW dinners but didn't hold back on chocolate & cakes at all when pregnant! I do also tend to have big babies with DC 2 & 3 being almost 10lb.

If you follow the plan in the main, you'll definitely limit how much weight you put on & if you follow it properly you could end up losing overall (depending on how big you are to start with) as that did happen with 1 girl in my class (but she was vv big & looked pregnant when she wasn't).

Good luck & well done on your weight loss so far. Grin

DD2 was 10lb 3 and that is one of my motivations!

I will give it a go... and talk to the leader tomorrow. I am concerned that my slowing weight-loss will alert everyone to my condition - I am up for a big promotion and I do not want the boss to get wind of it.

I continued SW throughout my pregnancy with dd. I lost weight up until part way through the 3rd trimester. I was iirc lighter after giving birth than I was at the start of my pregnancy. I will see if I can find my old book so that I can be more specific (sure I saw it recently as I am doing sw again).

CantSleepWontSleep · 06/03/2012 22:44

Actually my book was very much to hand. I weighed in 3 weeks after giving birth, and was 10.5lbs lighter than at the start of my pregnancy.

Tooblunt2012 · 06/03/2012 23:38

Wow! Well done Cantsleep! Grin

Wow! that is so very encouraging to hear! I lost 3lb this week, got Slimmer of the week, and felt very happy Smile

Good luck Valium. joined SW somewhere between 12-16 weeks pregnant, Then they did not really want you to loose, needed midwife's signature at some point and a max weight gain etc. I think I put on about 7-9 lbs at final weigh in at 39+ weeks then was at joining weight within 3 weeeks I think. After if you BF you get extra allowances. It was the only slimming club that 'allowed' pregnant ladies was a few yrs ago. Would def recommend it

ValiumQueen · 09/03/2012 08:00

Another encouragement, thank you.

I plan to stick to it and hopefully will weigh less once baby is born.

I'm intending to follow slimming world during my pregnancy. It would be great to weigh less than I do now after the baby is born.
I'm not sure whether I should rejoin a group or do it online.

ValiumQueen · 10/03/2012 20:00

I personally think going to group is very important. I have done many diets before, but only recently started going to group - it is really helping me knowing that I am going to group - the support and advice, and competition is very inspiring. Good luck!

Yes you're probably right valiumQueen
I'm at that sicky stage so I'll join when I come out of this.

ValiumQueen · 13/03/2012 21:02

Put on 1lb this week - had a special party at the weekend so cannot blame baby. It would be good to have company exexe I have the (feeling not being) sicky stage all flipping pregnancy! Grr!

Back on the wagon now.

1lb is nothing at all - I can do that easily after a big weekend!! I'm sure you'll lose again next week if you get straight back on plan.

exexe · 15/03/2012 09:15

ValiumQueen I was going to join up today but it coincides with a dr appointment so I'll join next week.
In the meantime, I've been living off toast and sandwiches as I can't seem to eat cooked meals. I'll try to up my fruit and veg intake.

I will join you then. I can already feel my clothes getting a bit tighter and I'm only a few weeks. I've been eating too much bread and not exercising due to that overwhelming tiredness. I cannot afford to go on like this. I will end up obese. I'm already in the overweight range.

ValiumQueen · 15/03/2012 19:29

OK exexe We can be slimming buddies! Not feeling very confident - cannot believe how bloated my tum is (is it triplets?)
