Anyone following Zoe Harcombe or done it before?

I decided to give it a go on Wednesday, so am on day 3 today. Astonishingly, I have lost 6lbs in those two days... and I am not particularly overweight. I have maybe a stone or so to lose.

I am finding it hard going but doable... I think that by the end of the 5 days I will be maybe 8 or so lbs down.

Anyone know if it all then goes back on?

karen I've just ordered the recipe book from Amazon as I am devoid of ideas too. I figured if I want to give it its best chance of working, I'd throw myself at it. Plus I can ebay it if I fail ;)

karen3w · 23/06/2012 12:10

That's true Pinot. I should probably order it too. How long have you been following the ZHD?

I haven't even read up on phase 2 yet, it looks very complicated and I'm feeling quite tired due to lack of caffeine and sugar.

dearprudence · 26/06/2012 20:59

I ordered the book yesterday. The thing I dread most is giving up sweetener, but I'm going to give it a shot. I did Dukan for a few weeks and I lost weight quickly and kept it off, but eating so little veg can't be healthy long term.

How are you doing karen? Pinot?

karen3w · 29/06/2012 20:31

I'm on day 9 of phase one and doing fine, no longer craving sweet things and instead loving natural live yoghurt. Having lots of huge salads with olive oil and lemon juice with chicken drumsticks, bacon and eggs for breakfast. I feel so much better than I did before.

muttimalzwei · 30/06/2012 22:40

Can I come back on for support? Starting phase 1 on Monday...

Flossiechops · 02/07/2012 21:37

Hi there can I ask in phase 1 can you have meat and rice together? Haven't had chance to get the book yet, thanks Smile

karen3w · 03/07/2012 21:57

Hi muttimalzwei and Flossiechops, seems quiet here at the moment.

I'm on day 13, did phase 1 for ten days, going to be very careful introducing more stuff in phase 2.

Flossiechops, you can't have meat and rice together, that would be eating fat and carbs together which you should avoid.

Thegoddessblossom · 03/07/2012 22:01

Would highly recommend getting recipe book.

muttimalzwei · 04/07/2012 01:35

hi Karen hope you are seeing a good weight loss.Only finished day 2 and feel exhausted!

pookey · 04/07/2012 12:20

Hi good luck all. I think its a better option from a health point of view than dukan and there is a lot of useful info in the book and recipe book, but when I tried this before I found no success in sticking to phase 2 even though in theory it sounds easy. A lot of people on that thread 2 years ago seemed to drop out. Going to try clean and lean which is a bit more glossy plus doesn't do the thing of seperating carbs and fats. Will keep the harcombe books though as may try again at some point unless clean and lean is amazing!

pookey · 04/07/2012 12:21

would say harcombe is probably the best option for vegetarians.

pookey · 04/07/2012 14:34

Flossiechops, you can have meat and rice together in phase 1 you just need to stick to the limit of rice she recommends, haven't got the book to hand but its a small portion of wholegrain rice. this would also mean no other grains for the rest of the day. You can have fat and carbs in phase 1 because this phase is so restrictive in other ways.

muttimalzwei · 04/07/2012 21:16

It's 50g of rice! End of day 3. had coffee at work, oops. Also soy sauce with chicken vegetable stir fry, contains sugar! and an absent minded munch on my daughter's discarded apple. Will try and be better tomorrow!

karen3w · 05/07/2012 09:19

Sorry, thought it was no meat and rice all the way through, sorry for the wrong info, I clearly didn't read it right.

For me this diet is working better than anything I've tried before. I've lost 5lbs in 2 weeks which I'm happy with. But all IBS symptoms and PMS have gone which is great. I'm going to stick with it as long as possible.

Rome1 · 12/01/2019 01:31

Want to start The Zoe Harcombe diet but how do I prepare for it?also which book is best to get?

Moanranger · 15/01/2019 08:53

I got her latest, The Diet Fix, Kindle download for around £5. Started, then fell off the wagon for a couple of days, so have re-started. Basic principles, leave a long time between meals. I try for twice a day eating, but not always possible. Defo no snacking. Veg, some fruit, minimal carbs, NOT from wheat. Some food combining principles. Protein. No calorie counting. No drinking or as little as possible. She spells out v clearly how alcohol stops fat burning.
I think it is a good regime to wean you off sugar. As I am doing dry Jan (probably also dry Feb &Mar) that makes it easier. I think as it allows you some carbs (baked potato, oat cakes, porridge) I tolerate this better than a purely low carb regime.
Aiming for 1.5 stone off by end of March.
